I think specifically with Robin Williams, is that he seems like the kind of guy that doesn’t write anything down so that you’ll say the first thing that comes to mind, and so sometimes it happens to be someone else’s joke

Because he was primarily an actor, and had a troubled mind. His stand up side, was just how he opened another door. That's why people don't associate him really with that so much. That was his night job. His day job was his acting as others to save himself. Standups that sit around and yap about stealing and not be seen enough is always petty tears floating down the drain.

He would record shows at Comedy Clubs. The worst thing you can do is steal jokes from Comics. It was known for many years that he did it. It backfired on him many times but the worst time was when the man he stole the jokes from appeared on Letterman the day before Robin Williams did. Robin obviously didn't watch the show because the next night he appeared on Letterman and repeated the same jokes from a new comedian that Letterman had introduced the night before.

We noticed a sign at a Comedy Club in California with his photo saying not to perform if you see Robin in the Audience. I asked the Manager what it was all about. This was years before he was actually accused of stealing jokes. They said he was coming into the club and stole jokes from up-and-coming comics. One year he got busted when he appeared on David Letterman. He hadn't watched the comedian the night before because Robin came on the following night and made the exact jokes that he had stolen from the performer earlier in the year. Letterman was very uncomfortable with it but also laughed a bit.

Saw mark curry on the Kat Williams tour in Bridgeport. He has an original style of delivery where he tells run on exaggerated stories. It was fun to see such a unique style and approach.

I love when people criticize a comic juggernaut like Robin Williams. The guy was a comic force for over 50 years, not to mention a pretty incredible actor( Good Will Hunting, Dead Poet's Society, Good Morning Vietnam, etc...) . These guys are talented(They still can't hold RW's jock), but there is no comedian today has surpassed RW's at his height or had his artistic impact. All that, and he was a good human being. Never saw him try to tear anyone down.
