Now that brings back a few memories, some good some scary! But you have made a lovely, proper restoration of this one. I still look forward to the Jaguar Code3, obviously, but a standard motor looks great. Thanks for the reverse shout out - the name swap is my own fault! That glass was a recalcitrant bugger!

I remember looking for one of these models a few years ago. A lot more expensive than average. Beautiful model, though, and you've done a lot to bring back the era of classic racing with this result.

Lovely job on that one Martin, plenty fiddling to be had on this model by the looks of things, this one still on my shopping list. With all that hard work you did on it and the finger print in lacquer syndrome surfacing it’s ugly head, you must have been absolutely gutted, done that on several occasions twice being able to smooth out the finger prints by leaving the models out in the hot summers sun ( no good at this time of the year) but such a shame after having done all that hand painting on it but your end result was one to be very proud of. A great tutorial on how to take apart and reassemble this model, I enjoyed your video very much! All the best, Nick🐸🐸🐸🐸

Great work Martin. As the Ecurie Ecosse raced D Type Jaguars as well as Tojeiro and Lister cars, that's what should be in and on the transporter. I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time in the real one as a kid as my father was at Ecurie Ecosse. Years later when the by then dilapidated transporter was being rebuilt and restored Chris Keith Lucas was kind enough to give me a tin of paint from the mix of Royal Flag Metallic Blue that went on the real one. Ecurie Ecosse... E cure eh E Coss 😀 There is also a much larger plastic version out of Hong Kong by Clifford toys.

Sometimes there are struggles, but slow and steady is always the way to go. Springs in these old toys always seem to be a bit fiddly to put back in and take out, but you managed well, Martin! I appreciate you demonstrating this one. I've never worked on one, but it's nice to see you trailblazing in case I ever do. Tight windscreen to remove, a fiddly spring to take out and put back in--these are all important things to know. I appreciate it, man!

Hi mate, quite a large casting that one. It came up beautiful with the blue and light blue. When you said that they had changed the paint formula I had a dreaded thought that if they had gone to enamel your clear coat would crinkle up witch is what happens when you try and put acrylic over enamel. The custom one for jags will be a good one to see, might be a bit of a job filing the raised lettering off the side though.🤬 Funny you mentioning canal boats I been watching a channel with a lovely couple who are on there boat all year round, there boat is called Rhapsody in blue and they travel all over England in it, beautiful scenery and wildlife and a wonderful couple. My brothers and I had a 16 foot cabin cruiser in the late 70s and because of our last name Mower, we called it, Moah's ark.😂😂🤣🤣 catch you on the next one mate.👍🏻

challenges upon challenges. :) but nothing can stop one of us! looks great, love the extra detailing! ^^ The effect of the paint not drying reminds me of back in the days where I made the mistake of thinning down a cup of enamel paint with lighter fluid. apparently that destroyed the hardener or binging agent, and it took a week to dry and never really got hard. it was just a larger detail on one toy, but still. ( I use lighter fluid to clean brushes and thin down a bit of enamel for washes or small mixes. it also works in the airbrush. but long-term thinning isn't working out.) anyway, does anyone have an idea what they used as a base for the original truck? I'd assume they based it on some modern bus with a tube-cage body, somethign from the 60's; those can be pretty modular and easy to reinforce. no NEOPLAN, though. maybe a Guy or a french Berliet?
