To give Kuvira some credit, you have to remember how bad things were under the tyranny of the earth kingdom. And the subsequent fall into anarchy when the monarchy fell made things worse. Kuvira sees the conflict between the old authoritarian regime and the current lawless citizenry, and aims to solve that conflict by introducing her own totalitarianism, which eliminates the class warfare and brings back stability.

It's also worth noting that she's *right* about Suyin. The nation, an entire continent, has fallen into bloody chaos and she has the one city-state that can act as a rallying point and center for re-stabilizing. And she just...doesn't do anything about it. Because she didn't want power? Okay, then *give it up* after you succeed or ensure someone has oversight over you. "I hate Anarchy, but I'm gonna beat it with Anarchy!" Totalitarianism, actually... which is pretty much the opposite of Anarchy. "Why does she think she's the victim?" Um... she doesn't, really? It's called manipulation/propaganda? You can literally see it working on Bolin, as he parrots her exact narrative back to Mako in the next scene. Which is why Kuvira stops doing it when she is alone in the room with Suyin. She knows she cannot manipulate her, and she doesn't have to, because Suyin's an enemy, not a subordinate. so she states the initial necessity of her cause, emphasizes the strength of her current position and threatens Suyin. I might be misunderstanding the intentions behind your remarks, in which case this entire comment sounds condescending as hell and I'm putting my foot further and further in my own mouth, but that question sounded sincere, and if it was you are severely underestimating Kuvira here.

Anarchism, in essence, is the flattening of unjustifiable hierarchies. Kuvira is more aligned with fascism which is pretty much antithetical to anarchism.. A leftist critique of anarchism in the short term is that, if the withering away of the state happens before power is situated in all people's hands, then the people with the most power both within and without that society will simply waltz in to take power back, exert dominance, and regress. This shows last two seasons show this perfectly. While I don't believe every writer on the show is some hardcore leftist, I know there some people that know their theory for sure

No fr. Idk why the stank faces came out when that comment was made lol. Literally season 1 Korra stormed into Tarlok's office and was about to attack a world leader to get her friends out of prison. There was a policy to arrest non benders out past curfew. Asami was out past curfew. Thems the rules. The rules sucked, but they voted on those rules. Mako and Bolin's arrest was controversial, but they were interfering with Asami's arrest at that point, which warranted their arrest. Either way, Korra had no legal right to do what she did. We just only see it from her perspective and are supposed to trust her "sense of justice" which ultimately gets proven right cause she's the main character and plot. She did the same thing with Asami's dad. Of course he wasn't a world leader, but still. Bottom line is Korra does what Korra wants and she always gets what she wants. Kuvira does exactly that.

Unless Su thought that the position would drive her into a power hungry state where she couldn't let go as well, she could have prevented all the problems that showed up in this season. As the Ruler of Zaofu, she is already a political figure and is on friendly terms with other major political figures and World leaders (not wanting to have anything to do with the late queen was more likely due to the queen being a massive B* more than anything else).
