Digging a waterline for a new construction home and spreading dirt on the backyard. This was a house I dug the footings on and dug out the driveway. I have already dug the sewer line but they didn't know where the water meter was going. This is a different plumber than I usually work with and he likes jump in the ditch a lot lol. It's 3/4" pex sleeved in 1.5" pvc. We also run into a bunch of utilities that I briefly talk about, most are abandoned because of the 2011 tornado. Then I also have a little footage of spreading the dirt on the backyard and sides of the house. It was a bit muddy still but the homeowner is trying to get as much wrapped up as possible. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #waterline

When you were backfilling, I was thinking...gee where is your compactor attachment? I no sooner got that thought out of my head and the words come up on the screen...hahaha. Our power company in this area requires 3" schedule 80 in the ditch with large sweeps on each end, and atleast 42" deep. with yellow "buried cable" tape 1ft to 18" above the conduit, as well as a 1/4" nylon rope in the pipe for them to pull their cable in.
@littlefinkle7757
@littlefinkle7757 3 жыл бұрын
We have to put red "danger" tape 12" above our electrical. And are only allowed those same 2 fittings. Neighboring county will allow us to bend the schedule 80 using a small amount of heat.

If they bury cable 6” I think I’ve hit the lottery. Usually they lay it down and slap sod over it here. Cable and electric are always shallow here and the things I worry about most because they’re always seeming to be sketchy. Had a job at a condo a week ago where the cable was literally laying on top of the ground and the condo is 10 years old 🙄.

Did it help having foremen on both sides running up and down the fence barking orders? Looks like wet topsoil will be the order of the day for the foreseeable future. I bet Diamond Grove is a mud hole. That exposed wire pic almost looked like a mesh. A couple of years ago I was trenching an electric wire along a path through a field. The owner said that it was open from the utility pole to the house. So, I started digging. The first obstacle was the old analog phone line about a foot from the pole. I cut it... turned out it was dead. About 50’ in, I hit a black PVC waterline. It was dry. About 10ft. I hit another dry one. Then I dug into a 12ga Romex line. It was dead. As I approached the house I hit another PVC pipe. It too was dry. Just as I turned my backhoe around to dig the last few feet at the house, I see a guy walking along my trench. At each wire and pipe he turns either left or right and studies something. I watch and wait. He keeps coming and walks up to me. What ensues is... A history lesson about the property. When he was a boy, some “rich guy” built a big house just to the side of the path through the field. However, there had been a fire and the property was dozed level and turned into a meadow. What I had uncovered was his yard sprinklers, yard light wire and horse trough line. What bothered him was that I should have uncovered the wire to the garage. I shrugged and told him that I only found the one wire that he said went to the yard light. He left and I continued digging. I called the owner, told him what happened and asked when the electrician would be by to install the line. He was totally unaware of the history... but asked me to come back the next day and dig the connector from the house to the septic tank. The next morning as I was unloading, the neighbor shows up with a forked willow branch. He asks for permission to look for the garage power line. I told him to have at it. The septic is on the backside of the house... as I was digging the neighbor shows up and says, “I found it.” I told him to hold on a little bit and I would dig it up for him. He said, “I already did.” Well, I shut the hoe off and followed him. He had dug a 2ft deep hole about 8” in diameter with a post hole digger and hit the wire on his first try. Now, Brandon I have seen a few people using divining rods before. (The well digger for the property next door to me used two bent clothes hangers with success.). But, I never heard of someone so confident that they would show up with a clam shell post hole digger and dig for an abandoned wire just to prove they were right. But, he did. There are things in this world that I’ll never understand... and sometimes memories lie along side those buried lines!
@eliteearthworksllc
@eliteearthworksllc 3 жыл бұрын
Wow that is crazy I’ve seen or heard of that either. Pretty wild how people can remember that stuff. When my grandpa was alive he would record everything we did developing the property my parents and them built on. He filmed the water line install even step off the paces and recorded the depth. In the last 15 years we have fixed the waterline 3 times and every time I watch his videos and can walk to the exact spot where it tee’s or turns dig down 30” and boom there it is. I thought he was crazy when I was in my early teens now I’m amazed how smart he was.

@@eliteearthworksllc I worked in huge Corporate Factories fo over 45 years. Each of them had blueprints and engineers that kept them up to date. Unfortunately, changing from hand drawn prints to CAD, turnover in engineers and baling wire & bubble gum fixes conspired to make the blue prints nearly useless. Every time there was a new project... some forgotten change or old remains got in the way. Perhaps they should have hired that old neighbor to bring his willow diviner and keep them on track. Kudos to your granddad for being smart before it was cool!
