one of if the best renditions of this wonderful French carol, arranged by Sir David Willcocks. The selective orchestra is just the right amount and proper instruments. The oboe is so haunting. Goosebumps!

It's angelical. If you love choirs you'll get shivers from this piece of art. I always think of the unfortunate who do not understand the greatness, the beauty and the emotional content of these compositions

Brought me to tears. I know the melody from The Beggars' Opera - but this is something else. Very moving to hear Germans sing so beautifully in French.

Tellement gentil! Quelle est cette odeur agréable, (What is that agreeable fragrance,) Bergers, qui ravit tous nos sens? (Shepherds, that delights all our senses ?) S’exhale t’il rien de semblable (That wafts like nothing similar) Au milieu des fleurs du printemps? (In the middle of spring flowers ?) Quelle est cette odeur agréable (What is that agreeable fragrance,) Bergers, qui ravit tous nos sens? (Shepherds, that delights all our senses ?) Mais quelle éclatante lumière (But what exploding light) Dans la nuit vient frapper nos yeux (In the night just struck our eyes) L’astre de jour, dans sa carrière, (The day star, in its pathway) Fût-il jamais si radieux! (Was never so radiant !) Mais quelle éclatante lumière (But what exploding light) Dans la nuit vient frapper nos yeux. (In the night just struck our eyes) À Bethléem, dans une crèche (In Bethlehem, in a manger) Il vient de vous naitre-un Sauveur (Was just born for us - a Savior) Allons, que rien ne vous empêche (Let’s go, let nothing prevent you) D’adorer votre rédempteur (From adoring your redeemer) À Bethléem, dans une crèche, (In Bethlehem, in a manger) Il vient de vous naître-un Sauveur. (Was just born for us - a Savior) Dieu tout puissant, gloire éternelle (God all powerful, eternal glory) Vous soit rendue jusqu’aux cieux. (Will be given to you until the heavens) Que la paix soit universelle (Let peace be universal) Que la grâce abonde en tous lieux. (Let grace abound in every place.) Dieu tout puissant, gloire éternelle (God all powerful, eternal glory) Vous soit rendue jusqu’aux cieux. (Will be given to you until the heavens)

I think this is NOT the Willcocks arrangement - where is the Baritone solo last verse with choir backing? That was the major contribution of his arrangement!!

Usually hear this done a cappella - like it way better with string accompaniment. One of the better carols for Christmas.

The oboe often is representative of the shepherds in Christmas music and as such fits some of the text in this lovely, lovely carol.

I'm so confused! A French song arranged by an English guy sung by a German choir conducted by a Russian dude? At least, that's what I'm picking up from the description. Regardless, this works! So beautiful!
