It's not the same logic for aliens though. For life on another planet you just need another earth in the right zone from a star with water and life could happen. And that sounds crazy but if the universe is as big as we think it is. It's almost certain that there are many 'earths' out there. Mermaids are entirely another thing. It requires the evolution of a fish? To transform into half an ape? And to keep evolving while it's also able to live deep enough down in waters we have found yet? And none of their remains or half eaten corpses have ever been found.

When I was 11 I was fishing in a boat with my grandfather on the groundhog River in Northern Ontario, Canada. It was early morning and we had just started out. I was at the front leaning out slightly watching the wave caused by the bow, my grandfather was manning the motor. As I watched I saw a human head and back rise up out of the water inches from my face. It was a human body until it reached the bum, at wich point it became a fish with large green scales from the waist down. The tail was not that of a fish ie up and down but rather that of a dolphin side to side ie a fluke. Strange because these rivers are fresh water and fluked animals live in Salt waters. I know I was not dreaming because it made certain to give me a good splash with its tail before diving down, never to be seen again. Strangely my grandfather did not see it.

Well ,she was a stripper at an exotic bar ( makes sense now? ) that was over 20 years ago. But not my last encounter. The 2nd one was on a personal level. And one that could have took my life. I wish I was making this, shit up. But it's the truth. The other encounter was in Florida. I could write a book about what I experienced but, Heck I'm just glad I'm alive because at the time I didn't know she was going to try and drown me or take me back where she came from, or what. Humans have been traveling over sea since the Vikings. These guys brought back a Buddhist statue, so they've literally sailed to Asia at least once. Some drunk, lonely sailors who imagine a woman in the dark waters of the night, sharing the story on every harbor is hardly a miracle. People traveled, told and inspired stories and whenever someone "saw" something they linked it to the tale they heard. Also humanity imagined half-animals since forever. Egyptians made them their gods, Greeks invented half human, half horse/goat/fish/snake. Whatever made a good story. It's hardly surprising to find the same tale on different parts of the world, especially if they've been open to travel once.

One of the villages here in Fiji in the highlands has a full skeleton of what we call a "Ikayalewa" meaning "Woman fish" if translated. A chief of a village near the ocean called Levuka hunted the Ikayalewa about 100 years ago and caught one. He sent it up to the village in the highlands as a gift. The skeleton is still there to this day. Human top half and fish bottom half with tail still intact. The chief owns it and never lets anyone touch it. I was fishing in the dam at Buffelsjag literally three days ago, and I now reckon the myths of the mermaids are probably based on sightings of large barbel or sharptooth catfish, as they are very abundant there

So why would people 50,000 years ago who probably didnt have contact with other cultures would paint something such as that if it wasnt real where would they get that sort of notion from?

Title: Mermaid in South Africa Video: Guy starts fishing 😳
@estherkritharakis94434 жыл бұрын
I grew up listening to my grandpa's mermaid stories. I highly believe there is something out there on the bottom of the sea that d/t the change in climate strange things are surfacing to the top. Creature unknown to some humans I believe there are preexisting animals that are hiding else where in the world and as I said things are changing so they are coming up and we may not be prepared to handle these things. Thank Jeremy Wade. My family and my family had watched you through out all your investigations all over the world. Thank you. If I had children this will be one of my best TV shows that I would allow them to watch and learn.
