Part of the no dress up rule is definitely because creepy people shouldn't do creepy stuff, but also that disney adults generally don't look as good in the costumes as they think they're do. It would ruin the park if most of the characters you see were the trailer park version.

Well I think really it’s because they pay their employees to be the characters, they only want one Cinderella there, it ruins the fantasy if another adult is cosplaying the same character. They want the illusion that our Cinderella is the real Cinderella, but kind of hard to make that believable when there’s like 10 Cinderellas walking around.

That woman better never tell a doctor about her symptoms because they're gonna do a lot of allergy and other various (possibly invasive) tests on her that will induce a lot more mental health issues than going to a regular park and not a theme park. I once worked with a Disney adult. She had been a janitor there years previous, moved thousands of miles away, then proceeded to have a Beauty and the Beast themed wedding. It was... odd. She was nice enough, but more than half of what she talked about was Disney, her time working there, and the many, many times she went back to visit. Like I was worrying about paying rent, while she was worried about financing her next trip to the park.

The fact that GROWN ADULTS were acting like they were in motorcycle clubs, wearing the stupid cut-off denim jackets and all, “claiming” different areas of the park, FIGHTING over said claims. Here’s the best one for me: a group of adults, forcing people who wanted to join to “shadow” the group by following the group around all day while nobody talks to them. 2 of my friends from high school joined those stupid social clubs, and it was a great source of hilarity for me but also I’ve never wanted to violate the Geneva Convention against a group of humans before Disney “social clubs” existed

at 13:31 they have very clear rules that Jedi Robes are not allowed in the parks. When they introduced Star Wars Land they had a doc on what you cant wear which includes any military style clothing (imperial officer stuff), Fur suits (wookies), and any hard plate clothing (Rebel orange pilot outfits and storm troopers). Jedi robes were specifically called out as not allowed. What is even more funny is they sell Jedi robes at the stores in Star Wars land and have to explicitly tell you you can't wear them until you leave the park. 250$ just to have someone tell you you cant wear them till you get home. PEAK Disney TM magic right there.
@SkipperJane
@SkipperJane 4 ай бұрын
Having spoken to cast members about this, you can’t wear the robes, but you can wear the tunic and you can carry a lightsaber. Apparently the tunics are permitted because Batuu is situated in the “First Order” timeline point, and there’s no Jedi as face characters to confuse people.

So, if they don't want people dressing up, it won't matter ultimately about the IP of the costume. My parents were Disney adults. I was raised Mormon, and they always idolized Disney as the pinnacle of what safe entertainment should be. We went to Disneyland for the first time when I was 10, and something broke inside their heads - they got us annual passes despite the fact that we didn't even live in California, and they would suddenly decide, "The kids need school clothes" even though I was a teenager and did NOT want Disney clothes. Over the next 7 years, they'd ruin themselves with credit card debt and have their home repossessed in 2003, despite the record home value growth in those years. Dad's house is still full of Disney garbage, and he takes out HELOCs for it (because nobody ever tells a Boomer they can't buy a home just because they have no money). I hated it from the first visit. I'd be pulled out of school during midterms by surprise, just to stand in lines all day, and then spend all night listening to Dad's raucous snoring. Ugh.

I have high functioning autism, complex ptsd, and have had seizures for years ... I had an extremely rough childhood with a lot of abuse and my gf and I of 8 years are disney adults with no children that go to disney the thing about it is for me is I have an extremely difficult time expressing myself emotionally or having an kind of excitement about life in general seeing small kids actually having a good life and getting to do things a kid should do is extremely uplifting to me. Dont get me wrong I enjoy going to disney for all the rides and foods and sights but just soaking up all the positive emotions in the area is quite therapeutic at least for me.

years ago my boyfriend accidentally left his phone in his pocket and got onto one of those rollercoasters where you hang from the underside of the track. naturally it fell out, and the staff ended up making him get on the ride again to "look for it" until he blew chow. looking back on that i honestly think they were just fucking with him for forgetting/breaking a rule lmao, because we went to the lost and found like 20 minutes later and it turned out they already had it (it had completely exploded upon impact with the ground. obviously), and how the fuck are you supposed to spot a bunch of tiny phone pieces laying on the ground while you're getting thrown around at 55mph on a rollercoaster

By this point, Disney is effectively a religion, with Disneyland and Disneyworld as its Meccas, as fans make the pilgrimage to the holy site, fans collecting memorabilia as if they were religious artefacts, devoting every waking moment to the honouring of the Mouse, and watch their content as if it were holy mass. It's genuinely creepy that people can surrender so much of their free will, to a soulless multibillion dollar corporation, just because they happened to enjoy its content as children, as for me, Disney was just a fraction of the content I enjoyed in my early youth, I have a balanced diet of Don Bluth, foreign cartoons, Non-Disney animated features, and yes even rated R, I was only five when I saw my first rate R film - Backdraft, I have a liberated childhood, I have my suspicious that most Disney adults, were overly sheltered, and had limited exposure to anything restricted by their parents, hence the obsession with most things Disney, I have noted this phenomenon with other fandoms before.

in the original cartoons the first real appearance of "Pluto" is that of Minnie's dog Rover. There have been some Pluto looking dogs in the "Chain gang" cartoon, but they were bloodhounds that gave chase to Mickey while he escaped from jail. He later was renamed Pluto and became Mickey's dog.

Funny thing is, no one really clowned him on it cause he was 50, about to retire, and straight up did not care anymore so he would just cook you right back.
