there's such a big thick line between having a kid crush on an adult and the adult playfully playing into it a little so as not to break his heart, and having her clearly return the feelings. they had to put so much effort and planning into crossing that line its crazy

Yeah, the boy having a crush on a pretty woman is fine, but the way she was clearly attracted to him during their romantic dates looked illegal! Does it freak you out when she kept touching him in the water fountain?
@jessicastjames6202
@jessicastjames6202 Жыл бұрын
Even "playfully playing into it" is still completely and utterly unacceptable. Any child with a crush on an adult needs to be immediately and very firmly shut down and redirected. It needs to be made extremely clear that, while the romantic feelings are a normal part of growing up, it is not ever okay for a child to have a relationship like that with an adult. "Adults reciprocating your feelings is fine and normal" is a REALLY REALLY BAD THING to teach children for reasons that should be extremely obvious lol. Doesn't matter if it's "only a little" so you don't "break their heart".

@@jessicastjames6202 i don’t think they meant it that way, “to act like the adult is reciprocating their feelings” they meant to not outwardly tell them off because it could lead to humiliation and fear of rejection when they grow up - it’s best for the adult to ignore the advances and not entertain the idea of a possible relationship because, yes, that would be extremely dangerous for the child

That last film could have been so much better if she just had like a babysitter sort of "date" with him before where she just has fun with the kid and isn't worried about trivial adult things, she clearly knows he's interested and all, but she could've just continued to be nice but keep her distance, but they filmed it like there was actually like some sort of romantic or sensual tension there. And that damned kiss makes me feel sick to my stomach. She should've just kissed him on the cheek or something, or talked to him like a teacher or counselor or really an adult with any semblance of responsibility that PLATONICALY cares about him, because that kiss was just so disgusting to see, she literally looks like she's 4 times his ag, the kid's character wasn't even in double digits. I feel like it should be stated that kids/teens having crushes on adults is fine and normal because they don’t know any better (i.e. a student having a crush on a teacher). HOWEVER, if the adult pursues the relationship, then the adult is 100% at fault and deserves to be in jail for the rest of their life.

He’s just saying that it’s okay because like many other young people I was young and stupid and didn’t know any better but if a teacher tries to go after younger folk it just ain’t ok. Another example of a creepy age gap in a movie is Another Cinderella story where the stepsisters show a embarrassing video of Mary (the Cinderella of the story) shows fawning over Joey (prince charming) in a magazine. Where he clearly looks older than her. Irl Selena Gomez (Mary/cinderella) was 15 and Drew Seely was 26 when this was filmed. These 2 played love interests I can remember if they kissed though.

@laceyrainbolt5432
@laceyrainbolt5432 28 күн бұрын
@@OwlBardthe most generous guess i can give is that they wanted their teen girl audience to be able to relate to/see themselves in the main character while she lives out the fantasy of falling in love with a hot guy. with few exceptions men in their 20s are better looking than teenage boys, and it isn’t uncommon at all for teen girls to celebrity crush on adult men and imagine romantic relationships with adult men. so it’s like a self insert fanfic. not that disney should have played into or normalized this of course! in the tv shows and also many of the movies at the time they portrayed age appropriate relationships, but in some of the movies they portrayed the hot mature dude who sweeps you off your feet, which is a fantasy and not a realistic scenario. so maybe they thought about it that way, like the viewer could also distinguish fantasy and reality, but of course their audience isn’t going to be that critical or discerning so in the end it doesn’t matter. i don’t see why they couldn’t have made, say, camp rock with nick jonas as the love interest instead of joe, but nick jonas definitely had a different/younger image at the time and i guess that just isn’t what they were going for. there are also restrictions for working with minor actors that don’t exist for adults, so it’s probably easier production and budget wise to have as few minors in the film as possible. plus adults are usually better actors than teens, so it’s just easier for them to cast an adult. in the end it’s all financially motivated, because that’s more important to them than portraying healthy examples of relationships for teen girls in every single movie.

That was the whole point...she was not good as portraying it that way. The director should have had her tone down the seductive actions and had her speak in a clearly playful way then it wouldn't be so creepy.
