Just did mine today. Bought the fluid, the filter, the funnel, the adapter… Drain plug. I forget what else. Everything. Thanks for the video Cory, very helpful. Did the service on my 2016 EOS today and it went very well. Knowing in advance all of the tools required was a time saver. I did find it wasn't necessary to remove the battery housing all the way. Used a bungee cord to hold the box out of the way and access was easy. I drained the oil and measured it, was exactly 5 quarts. The most time spent was adding new and waiting for it to fill. Next service 40,000 miles.

Excellent method and video thanks corry. I did not have the VAG computer to get the temp to 35 deg c so i used a laser temperature gun that i pointed at the gearbox in several points from below. After running for around 15 mins the temp went from 25c to 35c.

Excellent tutorial! Probably the best DSG fluid change video on youtube. I just changed the DSG fluid myself on my '06 Audi A3 which has 151K miles on it and the fluid has never been changed. Everything went great! The old fluid was dark brown but still somewhat transparent. The filter was in really bad shape, it was falling apart but I was able to remove it just fine. My DSG actually seems to shift quieter and smoother now. I purchased the IDParts fill funnel and it worked like a charm. It only costs $30 so you guys have the best fill tool for the price, all other tools are well over $100. I also purchased Liqui Moly fluid, OEM filter, and OBDeleven scan tool as well as several other tools needed for the job.

Hi I have an Audi A3 2.0 2004 with a 8pi automatic gearbox it is a six speed I have drained and filled the fluid several times I found your video very helpful thank you however I have a problem when the gearbox gets warm the gears become very lumpy to change and abrupt when changing down or up this only happens when the fluid gets warm I am trying to find out weather it is the electronic valves not opening and closing or maybe I have done something wrong any advice would be really good thank you

Hi there! Thank you for this informative video!!! I have a 2004 Audi A4 1.8t with CVT Multi-tronic transmission.. It's a similar procedure, regarding filling fluid with slight differences in plugs, type of ATF fluid filter setup etc.. However the principles are the same proper fill temps between 35 - 45c, gravity fed pump, and drip fluid level check.. although there are two plugs on my particular transmission, one to drain and the other to fill.. I filled the same amount that came out 6quarts, while the care in the air, I then Attempted to cycle through the gears 2 second intervals on each PRNDS.. Unfortunately I got an abs light go on along with traction control light signifying brakes have failed.. There was resistance to the brake pedal as though it were pushing back against my foot, not sure if the trans is some how in sync with the brakes system (I have not touched the brake system at all), not sure whether I've done something wrong during the fill process to cause the brakes to react this way.. I have not put the car back on the ground to test whether this was a result of the wheels dangling off the ground freely.. I used a bug spray type pump with an adapter screwing onto the fill port to pump the Atf fluid in trans.. The pump builds pressure, 10 to 15 psi to pump fluid in trans.. not sure if pumping fluid in with this type pressure may have caused an issue V.S the gravity fed syle funnel.. Any feedback or suggestions will be great help and very much appreciated!!! Best regards Tony

Excellent video. I find the factory fill method a bit too much effort for the time it saves me (not a professional though). Filling through the filter housing is easiest for a home DIY. Has the least amount of spill and least amount of wasted fluid, and least amount of hassle. Trade off is it takes a little while to drain through the small return hole in the filter housing, but not a huge deal for a DIY job. The drain + measure + refill method is also easiest for the home mechanic, but if you have VCDS I would overfill the trans by .5 L, and use the method in the video to properly set the fluid level at the correct temperature.

I did this today and forgot to put the 8mm plug thing back in before I started filling. Make sure to remember that and putting the filter cap back on. I won't mess up again but both are easy to forget.

So I just finished replacing a DMF, o-rings and gasket for the mechatronic housing, DSG fluid and filter. Following the procedure in this video and the supplies I bought from your site. When I disconnected the funnel the only fluid that ran out was what was left in the hose. None came from the trans. Did I end up at the correct level or do I need more than the 5L jug I bought?

+IDParts.com The 09G is similar but no cartridge filter and a different fluid and a slightly different fill tool. I don't use the fill tool because I can fill mine from the top of the transmission. It is not really the top of it but people describe it that way and that is probably just for simplicity. All I do is get a piece of vinyl tubing and a funnel that fits in to it and fill it from above a little bit like the way he did it. I just don't use a lot of extra tubing that lets me keep it reasonably straight so that I won't have much fluid still in the tube when I take it out. I just use a funnel from the dollar tree, they come as a package of three different sizes. I find the middle size can fit the tubing I use the most easily and that is what I want so that I am less likely to lose my fluid because a filling accident.

Yes you can. But just a tip ... WARM the oil before you do it, it will go MUCH faster. When the oil is thick you will use so much extra time.
