I cut snug holes in 2x4 with silicone and wood screws attaching the hose from shop vac to metal garbage can lid. the second hose done the same way on side. the extra 12 ft hose was $17.88 and it works exceedingly well.

i was thinking about doing this but putting my vacuum lid which contains the motor and everything on a trash bin so i can just dump the wood chip at the trash canister.

Can I have a 4" hose going in and a 2.5" hose coming out or do the inlet and outlet hoses have to be the same size in order to balance out suction. I'm looking to connect the 4" hose to the bottom of my Rigdid table saw and the 2.5" outlet to my shopvac

Klein Kustoms i would be afraid the shop vac wouldn't have enough power to move the material through the 4" hose. It would be an interesting experiment though.

Looks good Mike! I went with a China knockoff dust deputy... Seems to work. 👊🏻

shhvance They look almost identical and it works really well.. I had offered to do a review but it never worked... So I went for what I could afford with hopes of doing a China review instead one day. LoL

Ah, I saw what looked like heavy shavings picked up and separated. In my opinion that is not exactly "dust". Neither my miter saw, my table saw, my band saw, not my router create "shavings", they create saw "dust", dust larger than sanding dust but much smaller than shavings. You didn't show your "dust" collector picking up and separating sanding or sawing dust. My Big Question is does your collector separate these items? I only have to pick up shavings once every two years or more, what about in between times? Swimming in saw "dust" here. How about a vid of your collector separating something a lots smaller?

A dust collector and a vacuum are not the same thing. A vacuum is designed for low cfm and high static pressure. A dust collector is the opposite.

It should work , if you use 2 cans (one inside the other) it will prevent the can from collapsing
