Thanks for this informative presentation! Btw both chalk and talc are white calcium carbonate. Chalk "dust" is used for marking athletic fields and is super cheap in bulk.

How to make Elmer's glue at home" The same glue that is used in school. I found the recipe online. Pour 3/4 cup of water in a saucepan over medium heat. Add 1/4 cup cornstarch, 2 tablespoons light corn syrup and 1 teaspoon white vinegar. Whisk the ingredients together until they're blended well. Stir the mixture constantly until it thickens.
@PinkPoodleCrafts7 жыл бұрын
while I agree you can make glue that way, it is not elmers glue. Elmers glue is made with polymers :) Youre just making a basic homemade glue... or a faux white glue :) I dont know how it would hold up in a homemade gesso recipe because you need the polymers from the elmers glue :) But thank you for the homemade glue recipe :)

Great! Would you have suggestions on how to make acrylic gesso for gessoing canvas? Thanks
@PinkPoodleCrafts9 жыл бұрын
+Alan Silva do you mean regular white gesso? Because you can use the clear to do that as well. But if you want a regular white gesso, you would make it the same adding about 1/2 cup of white acrylic paint (depending on how poaque you want it add more or less) and add about 1/4 cup more marble dust to make up for the extra liquid in the paint. That will give you a nice white canvas gesso :)

Can i use plaster of Paris as a substitute for marble dust when making this? I'm starting to hate mod podge because of that glossy "matte" finish and there's no tooth to hold color once its dry. It tints but not that bright vibrant color I was going for.

Thanks a lot for such an awesome video to prepare Gesso at home. But the problem is I couldn't find marble powder in our local market (Islamabad, Pakistan). What's the alternate for this powder, can I use baking soda or cornflour instead (another issue is that I couldn't find cornstarch as well). So please please guide me in this regard. Hoping to get your response. Stay Blessed.
