I want something similar for my 1976 Dutch Craft rebuild, just a few feet taller. I have a 120V refrigerator that is 5’ tall with 8-1/2” of unused ‘extra’ width between it and the stove- perfect for a pantry/spice slide out. I wouldn’t build it like this either. I thought plexiglass so near to the floor was superfluous. Plus for such a little cabinet there’s a lot of redundant bulky material. Sure, it’s strong enough, but there’s other ways of creating torsional rigidity while actually increasing capacity. If your application does not need access from both sides I’d consider using 4mm or 1/4” plywood as a ‘back’ and build structure around that. The idea is excellent regardless, and he did a nice job. It’s two years too late probably but there’s a number of good instruction videos on KZbin on setting up drawer slides. Plus Blum and others have great instructions included with the product. That’s how I learned years ago when fancy drawer slides were new and I don’t think youtube existed- reading the paperwork that came with the slides.

Priscilla Robles, not yet. I want mine to be an upper cabinet on the kitchen corner and, with this COVID thing, I didn’t found an ideal way to do it, although I think I’m gonna make a drawer and install it vertically. And I also have been building a kitchen floor cabinet and countertop, because I need it more than organising the cooking pot lids :)

excellent job, how is the left/right stability when fully opened? I'm thinking of doing something similar but narrower, to hold pots & pans on each side of a stove , blum slide are nice, I've been using soft close , looking for reasonable priced metal pegboard is a problem I'm having ,may use wood strips instead.

Thanks I am new to your page and this video gave me answers and some questions, I been looking to do some of these for my new kitchen plus I doing one for my pots and pans cabinet that’s double door, 22 1/2” wide. If you have a video I will look for it. Thanks

I'm afraid I don't have a video on how to install the Blum undermount drawer slides. It's fairly simple to do, but the instructions are a little hard to follow. They come in a variety of depths. The ones I used were 21", which is perfect for a 24" cabinet.

Did I miss something or did you completely skip over the part of how and what the drawer fits into? Don’t you have to build an outer box for the drawer to fit into or was the carcass already there?
@Woodumakeit

I had already built out all of the kitchen cabinets, and this was the last thing to add, so the carcass was already there. I did make an earlier video of the corner cabinet for the sink, but didn't video anything else for the kitchen.

great work . have to ask you about the exhaust vent above the cooking range. how was this installed. does it vent via the side of the house or through the roof ?
@Woodumakeit
@Woodumakeit 4 жыл бұрын
The vent goes right through the brick wall and exhausts to the outside. It's not the most energy efficient device due to air leakage, but it works really well. It's likely original to the house from the 1950s.

ps...what would you suggest if table saw cannot do dado
@Woodumakeit
@Woodumakeit 4 жыл бұрын
It's a little more tedious, but you can get the same result with a table saw blade with multiple passes to cut the thickness you need. It's important to use a blade with a flat top grind (FTG) so that you get a smooth cut.

I cannot see where the notched out parts come into play. When you added those slide thingies to the bottom of the cabinet there were no notches.
@Woodumakeit
@Woodumakeit 5 жыл бұрын
The notches are only at the back of the cabinet and they allow room for the cabinet to run over the track of the drawer slide which runs under the cabinet. Those orange clips are screwed into the bottom at the front of the cabinet and they are used to connect the cabinet to the drawer slide.

Fabulous video and project but the music....!!! We don't need Star Wars playing in the background when trying to focus, analyze, and retain what you are doing. You are a handsome man and in great shape so easy on the eyes. You made a great spice rack that was lovely and useful. You are an excellent teacher with a soothing voice and very pleasant manner. The visuals were terrific, the audio was clear as a bell. Each step was explained very well. I was so enjoying the video, but then the music began.... !!!*&%$$#@##!!&^$!!@#$%@@^Q^W$&%^$^!!!!! NEVER, EVER ADD MUSIC TO ANY DIY, DEMO VIDEO. IT RUINS THE ENTIRE VIDEO AND CHASES AWAY SUBSCRIBERS. As a content creator you probably wanted to spice things up (pun intended) with some music. However, see it from a viewer perspective. We are passively watching, not in action. Our emotions start to get engaged when you turn on the music. This is not a time to engage emotions of excitement with a Storm Trooper march. If you get excited, you cut your hand off on the table saw. This a learning demo where you have to think, analyze, remember details, and learn. All the facets of your rational brain are engaged and firing away as you process what tools were used, do you have money to buy that tool or this, the quality of the wood, the details of the build, hardware, finishes, dimensions, measurements, and then Star Wars intrudes again with the marching of the Storm Troopers -THUM THUM DI THUM THUM. Your cognitive functions are now as scrambled as the Enigma code. What just happened? Oh its the music again! Another clueless male with his testosterone loaded music. My dear man, please reserve that testosterone for the bedroom frolics and let us have the blissful Zen of silence in the workshop with only your delightfully soothing voice and the sounds of wood being shaped by precision machines. Silence soothes. Music shreds the ears. No music please. Silence is golden. You can cook too? Geez! What a renaissance man! That blancmange looks so good! And chocolate torte is my favorite. Ok, the tips on LED lights, the excellent build of this cabinet are all too good to pass up. Subscribed, despite the music, darn it!
