That's fantastic Joe. I am sure that your sister loves those speakers. As a budget audiophile, it has always been a dream of mine to be able to build my own speakers. Imagine having speakers that sound exactly how you want them and not having to pay a fortune for them. Thumbs up!

It's really satisfying to design and make your own speakers. It does take a lot of experience to get something to look and sound how you truly imagine. That's the tough part actually.

Wow those sound amazing for their size. I would recommend listening to playback on a decent system or some good headphones. That baaaaasssss was impressive for such a little driver. A little EQ and you could get that response super flat. Nice work.

That's right, a bit of DSP would make these sound sweet. You can also do some work using a basic graphic EQ too. But yeah, these slap! 🤣

these sound kind of Mid forward, and yes, you can hear that 2k drop. Very impressive for a small box. Really impressed with the vocals.

I have used these speakers before and the one thing that i found is that they need to be burned in for a long time but after they work in they sound Amazing. They are a little muddy at the beginning then they brighten up and mellow out. Play them on the louder side for a couple hours. They are also really forgiving on the box you put them in. Can’t beat them for the money

I say, add the tn28 tweeters on top, and maybe a sub driver, though the sub driver is super optional. I got to listen to a set of these drivers in a similar box, they go SO low for what they are

Oh no way! Those are freaking awesome! What is your experience working with these BMR drivers? Please tell all! I saw some gloss towers and some satellite speakers. I'm curious about both.
@davidhoover2446
@davidhoover2446 5 жыл бұрын
@@joentell very nice! The cube speakers with subwoofer are sealed. Standard slope .7 I believe it is. They are the 3.5" ones. The system uses 1/2 inch MDF. The signal can go in via RCA or bluetooth, which are both fed to a mini DSP. The speakers/sub crossover is at 90Hz on those. High pass on sub is 30Hz. EQ is minimal on the satillites. A small boost at 2K and a small cut at 12K. They sound really nice, especially with the sub going to 30Hz. I designed the sub to be efficient down low, but with a high impedance from 70-90Hz, so I could push the EQ up near the crossover point and still drop very low. They use two 50Wx2 Sure amplifiers from parts express. I build 5 if these for a client. They were very happy. I used Styrene Acrylic on those for the gloss black. The small towers was a budget build for my brother and sister in law. RCA ins only straight to a 15w x 2 amp. I built in a ramp up from 500Hz down to 50Hz to compensate for lack of baffle size at least a little. They are very impressive sounding. They have a little smiley faced sound (probably due to a small baffle), but it sounds very pleasant. The on/off button is an automotive soft touch button. Rap music isn't even a problem with those. I used Duplicolr Laquer on those and I'll never do that again. What a mess! lol. With Styrene Acrylic you don't need a reperator or acetone to clean up.

@@joentell the BMR's are probably the best overall band for the buck. I just built using the 3" ones. They only go to 150Hz, but they get so loud, I learned I need to upgrade from 1/2 to 3/4 MDF. I really like the drivers for general listening and cheap price! They have a great musical character and dynamics I never thought possible at this price.

How would those BMR sound in a vertical array with 4 spkrs per side, that will be cool.
@joentell
@joentell 5 жыл бұрын
I saw on the product page for these at Parts Express, it looks like someone did just that. I bet it would sound pretty good. Multiple drivers is a good idea because these have a low sensitivity. Link in the description.

Wall resonance?
@joentell
@joentell 5 жыл бұрын
The wall does affect the sound, but I'm using it as an extended baffle and to enhance the bass response. These tiny 3.5" drives need all the help they can get especially because the way I've tuned the enclosure. They have padding on the back so they don't resonate ON the wall because of the contact.

It took me 3 years to watch this video? LAME! Should have done this years ago. These drivers seem to be the perfect ticket for car audio when you have to use them off axis it seems. Ordered the 2 inch version to try out and see how that will work in my front stage. After these? Its just going to be some PRO audio drivers if they don't meet my output requirements. One day? I'm going to go to a SPL show with a Meet Joe Black CD, and a thumb drive of test tracks and see what they can really do with orchestral pieces and kettle drums. being that I'm a musician, I have some pretty stringent requirements for reproduction , especially my own vehicle. I'm hoping that these Tectonic drivers are part of the puzzle. If not these? Time for some JBL Horns in the dash. :-)
