I get excited every time I see your channel. I really really want to try this with platycerium ferns. They are very rare and grow very slowly. And are extremely endangered in the wild.

You mentioned that you want some orchid seed to work on...I will likely have some Bletilla striata (Chinese Ground Orchid) seed available shortly if you would like a pod or two.

massive respect for torturing plants?

The monstera one might not be a fail yet at least. Ive noticed a lot of plants coming into the nursery that are quite clearly from tissue culture that tend to have 1 stem that is far bigger than the others and looks like a normal cutting, but then it has like 10 baby plants all around it at the base that grow so much slower. My guess is that for a lot of the vining aroids they probably grow first out of the node, and then start making extra plants on a delayed schedule. Not sure if subdividing one of the baby plants on its own instead of using a node circumvents this in future cultures, but its just something i noticed in more mature plants that have been going out for sale lately.

I'm on the isopod wagon too. I didn't expect this to happen. Don't tell my family or friends. I keep them in bins. Send help

Merci beaucoup for sharing. Can you tell me how you sterilize the Phalaenopsis stems. I never succeded: either contaminations or I kill the germination eye on the nodes. Thanks a lot ❤

Did you take off the roots from the cacti before you put it into tissue culture? Was just wondering how you did that. 😊

Have you tissue culture Hoya Kerrii variegated? I want to do that one and I was wondering if you have a video. Thank you for your videos they are supper helpful ❤

Looking forward to update on monstera with new protocol. Been hesitant to try on one of mine. Not worth it if only get 1 lol
@taylorhillard48684 ай бұрын
I feel like there is still benefit to tissue culturing monstera even if you only get one. Mostly because youll end up with a clean tissue culture that has multiple tiny nodes that each can be divided and cultured again. Whereas for a normal cutting you would end up with a bigger plant and for the same amount of time investment get only one new (albeit larger) propagatable node.

I hope you're able to have success with the anthurium projects! so cool that you got all that free stuff. oh, and newbie question... is there a reason to use plastic wrap instead of something like parafilm like you would secure Petri dishes? or is it just to save cost?
@plantsinjars4 ай бұрын
Parafilm would work too. I just use plastic wrap because it's cheap

which website did you get the cactus from? I think it's pretty cool looking. Also have you ever tried growing morel mushrooms before? I didn't know if you knew of a recipe for morel mushroom culture. If you would let me know that would be sweet. Thank you.

Hi Laur, Should I use horizontal or vertical airflow type of the laminar flow hood for tissue culture? Can you share your opinion on this? Thanks!

Either works but I prefer horizontal personally

I want to try tissue culture. I have some electronics background and built a HEPA filtered incubator. But I can't buy chemicals in New Zealand because I am not a business. I've heard that TC used to be done using Coconut milk. Can anyone verify that?

I would like to see cymbidium orchid seed pod sowing, as I will be having 10 seed pods ready in 9 months time in which I will be sowing myself. Try to approach a orchid society in your area and ask some growers if they know how to obtain seed pods.
