appahman i bought the plans through www.timelesssurfcompany.com/. Highly recommend them and the forums on the site. I would say it cost about $600 total with wood and fiberglass. I prob went a little overboard and you could go cheaper.

Isaac Sarabia unfortunately it's heavy as heck. My guess is about 100lbs at least. It's a bear. If I were to build another one, I wouldn't fill it with foam. I think that really bumped it up.

@jasonpjensen3 жыл бұрын
Its pretty heavy. I would say maybe 80 lbs or so which is hard to handle and carry at that size. If I could re-do anything, I wouldn't have filled it with foam. I think that added a lot of unnecessary weight.

Cierra Crumley not officially. To be honest it would probably be cost prohibitive when you take into account the labor. Additionally shipping may be a nightmare based on where you live. That being said, it was a blast and I’d love to do another. If interested, let me know and we can touchbase.

Is the bouancy too little for you? looks like its riding low... no? What did you fill it with anyway? What type of foam?
@jasonpjensen6 жыл бұрын
Joe Wind no not an issue at all, other than I'm chubby :). I remember the day that we filmed this and it was actually really choppy in the bay and there were a ton of boats around that didn't help with wake. However, I have noticed that I ride a little towards the front of the board than our other commercial board. I used "good stuff" foam that you can get at Home Depot. Said it earlier in comments, but if I could change one thing, it would be to leave it hollow. I think that's what made it so damn heavy.
@bt71536 жыл бұрын
The foam wasn't needed for bounacy?
@jasonpjensen6 жыл бұрын
Joe Wind nah the hollow core would have easily displaced enough water to be buoyant. I also did the foam to confirm the seal but as it turns out I still needed to put in an air vent.
@bt71536 жыл бұрын
what does the air vent do?
@jasonpjensen6 жыл бұрын
Joe Wind with a hollow core you get air inside that expands with the heat of the sun on the board and the cool water below it. That can cause the wood to bulge and buckle. In time, it will cause leaks. The air vent has goretex on one side to not allow water in, but allow air to escape. Some other vents are manually opened after you get off the water to release pressure. Some of the fiberglass boards have this too

Can u make this in 2 weaks? Cuz i will have my big brothers place for 2 weaks and i think i could make it there if i bring some tools. Im 19 and mothers basement and dont want to disturb her to much
@jasonpjensen7 жыл бұрын
Hmmm I think that's going to be really tough. Those images that I posted were about 6 months in total. The biggest thing is building the rack to keep the curve on the wood. Not only are you building the board, but you need the rack too. Add in the drying time for glue and epoxy, it's going to be a tall tall order. This is also assuming that you have all of the tools (especially clamps!!!) and the wood already cut to size. I had to do a lot of milling and shaping. Sorry to be negative but I think the only way to do it in that short time is if you can plan 100% of your time and have all of your ducks in a row on it.
@faultierpuppy17 жыл бұрын
thanks for the response. i still want to make it. but i think i´ll do it in the backyard when i get home to my mom. that would give me much more time. and yeah the glue and epoxy was kinda what i was worried about
@jasonpjensen7 жыл бұрын
Puppy if you are using gorilla glue or titebond 3, you need about 4 - 8 hours depending on temp and humidity. Epoxy and fiberglass is really dependent on what you buy. They sell quickener if you are in a rush. However, I chose a very slow drying epoxy since I was so nervous of a screw up. I gave 24 hours between each coat.
@faultierpuppy17 жыл бұрын
thanks, i love all info i can get. i like building stuff and i like being on the water so this kind of build would be amazing. but now i have decided to do it in the backyard after i´ve been at my brothers place since i don´t like to be stressed to much even if i like being occupied. so i think im gonna do as you did and take the slow stuff since it is such a unique build and i really want it to be a success. i dont own my own paddleboard yet. i have a very good freind who has one and i feel like i steal it from him all the time, he let me borrow it all the time but i feel like i need my own

I don’t disagree. Flaw was in filling it with the foam. If I could go back, I would change that. Would it get down to 28lbs? Doubt it. But would be a lot lighter, and probably easier to handle out of the water and balanced.
