Ford Transit custom cutting out & not idling P042E EGR Fault *FIXED*

Investigating & fixing a Ford Transit Custom 2015 Model 2.2 with poor starting , Not idling & cutting out, not revving at times & no throttle response. Engine hesitant at times. P042E / P042E-00 EGR control stuck open fault code stored in ECU. 2.2 16v 99bhp engine code DRFF

After further diagnostic work the EGR Valve was found to be "partially working" but not operating its full range... therefore it doesn't log a fault all the time.

I’ve not used one before tbf mate so I’m not really sure , it should give the same p codes and if it does actually data it may have the same details

Hy good video. Do you have an ideea why y can have the same errore code like you have, after a new EGR valve and a registration in the ECU for the new EGR valve? His FAP is almost full. this can inpact sow much on the EGR valve? or May be a brand new EGR valve broken? Thanks in advance and from France.

Thanks for the comment , u may have a faulty egr.. they do need to be configured .. although there are a few other issues that may cause the code to come up .. also you may need to check the wiring

@@diydaly thanks a loot. Fixed whit a new Ford EGR valve. The one we instaled at first was remanufactured and was faulty. Thx for support.

Can you re-use the gaskets?

You can usually get away with reusing them but really it’s best it you can get new ones as they are crush gaskets

Hi , yeah there will be a option on any decent diagnostic machine to tell the ecu a new egr has been fitted
