Now that made us a giggle! Love the nod to Love Actually with the "oh it's the same" comment. From a cruise perspective we always pick up on the nightstand/bedside table and faucet/tap difference in cabin reviews

Absolutely fantastic. Truly creative. Having spent a lot of time in England, I found myself using the words of the country I was in. When I stop for petrol, I change his nappy.

That was so fun! Grits.....That was hilarious!! (I'm from the South, grits are yummy!) Love comparisons like this, and it's so interesting how language evolves the way it does, and often so regional. Please do more!

Hi Lil, I’m glad you enjoyed it! it was a blast to make, and to be honest, there were very few retakes, the girls did that in less than 30 minutes. Of course, being from Southern California, we love grits, but our dear friends from Britain that were with us on this trip most assuredly do not 🤣 Four of us and one other friend are cruising together again, specifically this December, and there are plans already underway for version two! Be sure to check out their channel as well, which you can find in the item description of this video. Thanks for watching - we hope you like the other content on our channel, which is mostly about cruising. Thank you also for taking time to leave a comment!

Here in Australia, we use most words the same as England but also a lot the same as America. I don't know how that came about! Interesting how the same language is used differently in different countries.

I've always trouble understanding why americans use the word "entrée" for "main course". In french its a dish served before the main course and/or entrance (to a building). In Swedish very similar word (entre/entré) means the same as french and regarding a dish served before the main course, "starter" i beleive it's called in america, is logical being the "entrance" or beginning of a meal. After all american english developed from UK english and how a word can change so much is quite fascinating.

Lived in England for 3 years at a young age and acquired my English there when I return to Venezuela where we had a very strong american cultural influense I had to endure this type of change in vocabulary. All of a sudden I was not wearing trousers but pants, I didnt love bisquits but cookies; not to mention spelling gaffes like "color" instead of "colour" and the likes

My brother who is British is married to an American girl. They met online and did a lot of their courting over FaceTime & the telephone. This was one of their conversations in the early days of their relationship. My brother: what are you eating? SIL: Biscuits Br: What type? I love chocolate ones. SIL: Eeew - who’d have biscuits with chocolate? Br: well what do you have then? SIL: Gravy, same as everyone else! Br: Eeew - that’s disgusting!!! Took them a while to realise biscuits in the UK different from biscuits in the US. Since moving to the US my brother has completely embraced the culture and now refers to biscuits as cookies and I now have to ask him to explain certain things to me when we video call as he now speaks American English 😊

Very funny. I dont know how they managed to keep such straight faces. As a Brit, i still have no clue about what a grit is. Also don't know what an American biscuit is, which can, apparently, be eaten with gravy, which may, or may not, be what we call gravy in the UK 🤣🤔

From what I understand, a "biscuit" in America is a scone, but fluffier and buttery. Our(America) gravy is way different than yours. It's made with flour, milk, sausage, and black pepper mostly. You're missing out. Plus I can't tell you how many Brits I've seen declare that American food is much better and flavorful. A bit biased I'm sure, but I haven't seen anyone claim British food is better, except maybe Gordon Ramsey lol

Surprisingly alot of the words we use that the U.K. makes fun of us Americans for, they actually invented but stopped using. Can we all agree that all languages have their pros and cons, but it would be stupidly boring if everyone talked the same?

😂 As the saying goes we’re two nations divided by a common language! It’s interesting because I do Americanise some words occasionally to be understood. Once someone thought I was called pizza because was pronouncing my name with a hard t as I would normally (peet-ter) so had to go American (pee-der) so they could understand! The American “risotto” really hurts my ears though. I don’t know why 😆 oh and you missed arugula v rocket…
