Ageing is inevitable, but what if everything we've come to believe about ageing is wrong and we're able to choose our lifespans? What if ageing is a 𝑡𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 disease?
In this week's #HealthyLongevity #webinar, Prof David Sinclair from Harvard Medical School shares a bold new theory for why we age. Prof Sinclair is also the author of "Lifespan, Why We Age - and Why We Don’t Have To" (lifespanbook.com/).

I guessed before googling and thought he looked late 40s early 50s. I googled his age and apparently he's 53- so at best he looks a few years younger than he is... I also don't really trust him. There may be some science behind some of what he's saying but most of it is conjecture that he stands to profit too much off of. He has patents on his version of NMN and then he verifies some of his claims with his own companies. He also advises MetroBiotech which tried to get NMN banned as a supplement so that he could sell his proprietary version of NMN.

I have been watching Dr. Sinclair. His book is also very educative. I love that book. In there, there's no point increasing lifespan without health span. The goal should be to live longer while staying young and healthy. Sinclair believes that in the foreseeable future, it's possible for humans to live beyond 120 or even 150, without the frailty, diseases and disability we now associate with old age. I hate aging and the illnesses it brings over time. This is why I am now taking NMN supplement by Vitruvin constantly.

Agreed. A thorny issue. I have chosen to take HRT and been on it for 20 years. I am ageing very well so far. My mother never slept through the night once she turned 52 until she died. Lack of deep sleep alone takes a huge toll on resilience.
@Optimization_Coach
@Optimization_Coach 2 жыл бұрын
For those of us that work in and around the HRT field proof is in the pudding so to speak. The big issue is how to deliver the hormones and how much hormone is proper for each person. But in general, HRT for peri and menopausal women can really improve quality of life no matter how many days they have remaining. I have seen women in their 80s benefit tremendously!!!!
@eugeniebreida1583

I DO sincerely wish NUS/Brian are checking our comments - as the omission of women’s hormone levels, which Fall off a Cliff in mid-life is, frankly, malpractice of human scientific research. W/grateful appreciation to Brian and David - truly wish that last/critical question had not been brushed aside . Can someone help me find NUS’ discussions which DO include these “gender differences” - seems most need to include them. How will mainstream med get on this train, if scientists like yourselves do not bring up within EACH presentation? Thank you again. (Am 63 and losing it due to near zero positive hormones, other than cortisol, insulin, etc) Good luck!

Great to see the progress at NUS, and also in David's lab. The reprogramming efforts are really interesting - but my concern is that it may be decades before it gets translated to the clinic, and will be expensive if it turns into a therapy. Perhaps Altos Labs can speed things up. I think the NUS efforts at identifying supplements and drugs that are most helpful in aging are the big win for the next 5 years - drugs like rapamycin.

Seen people age 50-60, looking and acting like 30 years old. With perfect skin and wrinkle free. Doing 0 supplements, fasting, superfoods or any other so called health practises. They are just in tune with their body and live joyfully. Having good genetics helps alot also. Your own intuition can be your best tool. What to eat and when to eat. Most people are not in tune with their body's circadian rhythms, however. Also seen people age 40 doing all kinds of supplements, fasting and exercise for decades. But they seem to have aged terribly. So untill we see 60 year olds looking and acting like 20. Nothing incredible special is going on. It's 2021 and I think we're just started to grasp the basic understanding how aging works. it's incredibly complex. In this timeline your best bet is probably living as naturally and in tune with nature as you can. Looking at the blue zones. The real paradigm shifts are probably still a few centuries away.

Everybody wants to remain as independent as possible in old age, no? Muscle mass decreases with advanced age resulting in weakness and balance/coordination issues. The ways to combat this decline is to work out and keep as much muscle on one’s frame as possible. Give NMN supplement a shot and see if it works for you coz what works for one person might not work for the next. In my opinion, I am satisfied of taking NMN by Vitruvin Nutrition along with my work outs, walking kms, and yoga...

A fascinating idea, 80 or 90 years is the most extended life for people. We hope just facing death in proper condition, healthy body, happy life, not a life for a much longer time. Intermittent fasting and taking astaxanthin is the way I'm doing it.

I bought Dr. Sinclair's book "Why We Age and Why We Don't Have To." It's so educative and phenomenal. Through him, I learned about NMN supplement particularly by Vitruvin Health 500mg, it's been a couple of months now as also recommended by a close friend. All I can say is that it’s cost-effective, overwhelming energy is felt, and promotes your overall health...I am looking forward to feel and see the same result in the following years…

Steven, for how long you are taking it and what daily qty? I have been taking 1000 mg of NMN and Resveratrol daily for 2 years, but have not taken any tests except regular annual blood tests which all look good. With good diet and exercise it is difficult to see what is really making a difference - diet and life style or supplement. Some placebo effect s likely likely present so feedback from all of us is important as we are all part of one large randomized trial. What is UCLA test? I am in NJ - curious if I can get tested for biological age somewhere in NJ.
