It's the same kind of respect people have had for the old guard of KZbin creators who started making videos before anyone knew there was any money or fame to be made. 58:00 I personally think this way every day and it’s part of the reason I feel grateful for every moment in my life, and my happiness levels are exceptionally high every day.
@harryb129932 жыл бұрын
I used to, now I just feel happy because I’m satisfied with myself. I see all life as worthless and so have no expectations or things to live up to, I live somewhat impulsively in the way that I think will bring me the most happiness while I’m alive be it striving for a goal or wasting days away relaxing. For around 10 years now I’ve subscribed to optimistic nihilism with a focus on happiness.
@vulnerablegrowth37742 жыл бұрын
@@harryb12993 At some point I just stopped thinking about happiness. It just became natural. And my gratitude doesn't just stop with where I was born. It's the opportunity to even be alive at all! My atoms could have simply been dispursed throughout the galaxy and I would have never even had the opportunity to live to live at all. Yet here I am. So lucky to have this life and be able to experience every new moment.
@Lolerburger2 жыл бұрын
@@vulnerablegrowth3774 Your gratitude should be aimed at the fact that you're physically healthy, but above all, mentally healthy. You would not be thankful to be alive if every moment of your life was mental torture; life is not a gift, a good life is. It's your stable mind that gives you happiness. The day will come when that stability will leave you, but for now things are good which is certainly something to be grateful for.
@vulnerablegrowth37742 жыл бұрын
@@Lolerburger yes, but putting value in the fact that I am alive makes it so my threshold for wanting to live is ridiculously low. Other people might feel their life is not worth living after suffering from much less pain than it would for someone who experiences gratitude like I do. The lower you can make your threshold, the more you will experience a will to live in every moment of your life. That said, I’m not saying that all suicidal or depressed people need is a little gratitude. There’s only so much it can do, but I find it helps make life more worth it.
@Lolerburger2 жыл бұрын
@@vulnerablegrowth3774 I get your strategy I just don't think it's a strategy you can choose to have, but one that you can afford to have. Being thankful for being alive is only a useful mindset when you're not in the red. It won't save you when your life turns to shit. Being alive in itself is not something to be grateful for, afterall you can't ever know what it's like to not be alive.

The issue with terms like feminism and toxic masculinity isn't that people have some huge bias against them for reasons that have nothing to do with their content. The issue is that these terms are nebulous, infinitely elastic, semantically inaccurate and provocative, and constantly rhetorically abused. Most feminists don't even have an accurate understanding of what feminism is, and when people speak about toxic masculinity they do so without any actual examination of the male experience. The terms are not just misunderstood, they are understood for the lack of utility they provide, and for their tendency to be wielded as weapons against others.
@ktg6192 жыл бұрын
I disagree. Terms like toxic masculinity have been pretty well defined for decades. It gets misunderstood by people who don’t care to understand what such terms mean either by mistake or deliberately (ie political pundits from the other side of the spectrum). I mean ffs, we have people calling anthropogenic climate change “woke politics”. Unfortunately, political terms are flexible.
@SynetheSage2 жыл бұрын
@@ktg619 Toxic masculinity is an incredibly nebulous and subjective term even in academic use, and its place in the common vernacular of modern discourse - especially among feminists - has been anything but conducive to communication and messaging.

38:35 I agree with this completely. I think most people have fundamental understandings and arguably agreements on woman's issues. Like obviously no guy wants to see a girl get raped and surely a lot of men wants equality of opportunity for not just woman but everyone as a whole and visa versa (woman wanting equality for men). I think the problem is when "femcels" or extremely radical feminists label themselves as feminist and then it makes all of the rational feminist look bad because everything the radical feminists says is more provocative so their "voices" will be a lot louder since in todays culture at least in my belief, radicalism and tribalism gets "clicks". Thats why you'll see people like hasan and vaush find really good success on twitch, and then people will get outraged by some dumb things they say, but it makes them money so they don't care. Another example of this would be like a lot of moderate political youtubers not getting a lot of attention because well to a lot of people their takes are boring and uninteresting. PSA Sitch in my opinion is one of them, had a thriving channel when he made political videos but then when he switched to live streams he slowly became unpopular which is unfortunate.
@Sesshounamaru72 жыл бұрын
Not really, men want the sensation and social image of been the good guys and been the good neutral decider of whats fair and whats not, to have the final world and base it on their perspective which will get laved objective and rational then anyone who disagrees with them is enotional and irrational (this is what happend with folks like jordan peterson) where instead of listening to people living the issues been complained they will point out how it's all individual issues and not something going on in society that needs to change. Lots of allies of woman issues or LGBT issues, stop been allies the moment that littliltes things are asked for them aside from vague posturing. Thats why we end up not trusting the 'other side' and have to take care things in our hands, but we dont get listened so we have to be louder, and when we got listened its due to us been Upity and not the topics we bring to the table... I agree people have good intentions in their hearts but that means absolutely nothint if they always side with innaction, just like MLK jr mentioned in the latter for the White Moderate where people not been afected by the issues will rather side with the opresor for pasive justice (lack of conflict) than side with the group afected to get actige justice (freedom from oppression or achieving equial levels of fredom to and fredom from)
@XoloYT2 жыл бұрын
@@Sesshounamaru7 Well why is it so hard to say that you just want the best for everyone and equality of opportunity for everything no matter where they come from or how they were born? Just huge fundamental issues here for instance. You appeal even slightly to leftist ideologies: Your pinned as some sjw, leftist, commie, libtard. You appeal slightly to right winged ideologies: Your pinned as some racist, nazi, bigot, ____(insert) phobic, etc. So obviously with that being said when news articles, twitter, or just the internet for example want to slander people by calling them these things when a represent a certain ideology of course they are going to be turned off or repulsed by whatever they represent especially since most average people don't have the time or lack the drive to search deeper into peoples motives whether it be sociological, political, psychological, etc. since its so much easier to just name call the opposite side. I mean honestly I still don't like Hasan or Vaush and hate their ideologies, however I'm at least open to watch their videos so that I can understand the perspective of someone on the opposing side and see if there is possibly even I can learn from them and their thoughts.

@@XoloYT even destiny has mentioned in the past how naive he used to be about how all prople need is the correct information presented in a way they can digest and then everyone will understand everyone, but overtime realized some people are simply evilz or hatefull and no amount of silver plate will fix the fuckup-tery they had growing up where they did. Your goal and thinking is a good cause but its something that right here and now doesnt have the material conditions to be actes upon, this is where the meme of enlightened centrist comes from, from wanting people who are hated, to compromise with people who hate them with or without a valid or rational reason.

I stayed in the Barcelona Gothica for a time, and it was blaringly clear that the reason it's not vehicle-centric is because a lot of these places were established well before the age of mass travel. Like, in order to plan your city around cars, as a lot of modern American cities are, the car must first exist. It's really only an embarrassment in retrospect and with points of reference with which to compare American to European cities. The people who started planning their cities around vehicles could never have known that it would wind up being such a shitshow.
@PennDraken2 жыл бұрын
Surely many american cities were founded before cars became widespread. After the destruction from two World Wars, many cities in Europe had the potential to become car-focused, but opted not to. In the US, planners decided to themselves demolish entire neighbourhoods to accomodate for cars.

i think the problem with some terms is the baked in assumptions and the effect of what is done in the name of an ideology have an effect of the term, and a word like racism is a word thats morally loaded, so adding systemic to is and then say oh now the moral loading and and the bad things done by racist people is gone? i think thats intelectually dishonest, so i think thats a terrible word to use, the word racial differential outcomes is a much more accurate term. and since there are many supporters of the "systemic racism" term saying all white ppl bad. and people feeling attacked by it who opposed it both make sense due to the terrible term chosen. same can be argued for feminism, the word equality already existed, so why have loaded words just try to use more accurate and neutral words, I think it would help a lot with healthier discourse

you two have a great vibe. I hate it when people say that about depression., with more knowledge about there about how the brain works, there's no. excuse to not comprehend mental illness. not understanding it like 500 years ago when people thought demons and spirits controlled people and they didn't know shit ab out how the brain works, well yeah. but today, no excuse. America has way much of a car culture, but then you're a fucking huge country so it makes sense. NYC seems like the most European-esque city in terms of public transport. The Metro looks as good as the London Underground or the Paris Metro.
