few ways you make your lifestyle a calorie burner one: 1) avoid cars/motorcycle for any distance less than 10 kms, instead use cycle 2) always use stairs 3) get up from from work every 2-3 hours and walk for 5 mins 4) do different kind of workouts , cycling, swimming, running , bring variations, 5) do resistance training, 6) target doing HIIT every 2 to 3 times a week , maybe 20 mins each

I have been jumping rope since lockdown in 2020. Then I could jump 1/4 lb jump rope 1000 times in 1 hour 15 minutes. Gradually I was able to do it in 10 minutes. Then I shifted to heavier ropes. But since last 2 months I had stopped jumping rope as my weight had plateaued and I was doing other body weight exercises like burpees. To my utter surprise when I started again after 2 months it felt completely different completely difficult and bit challenging. I am able to progress more after this break and feel more motivated to jump rope.

I'm no expert but since I also do both I'll chime in. I prioritize resistance early in the day while I have more to give, then jump rope later in the day so the two don't get in each other's way, and so I'm more recovered from resistance training by the time I'm jumping. But I only jump a max of 4 days or so a week, sometimes less, but then I try and walk when I don't jump. Just so my body doesn't get too beat up

Against all advice, I started doing it in socks. I can wear chucks now. But if I wear any kind of tennis shoe with any kind of angle, I end up in pain. So I’m convinced you just have to condition your feet and use the same type shoe every time or just go barefoot and work your way up. So many people recommend against barefoot, but I have found it’s really enjoyable.

Jump rope definitely can burn fat , but more importantly it has to be incorporated with a proper diet and calorie control. The best thing about jump rope is it is convenient, doesn't need much of space/can be done at home with a basic non expensive jump rope and best part is it just require 30-45 minutes per session, which is not much to ask for really. Dan, love everything you do. However, I think we always slightly disagree on this issue of "intensity" and weighted jump ropes. I'm aware that I know nothing in comparison to you, but some people are deterred from exercise when it requires "intensity" due to the effects on the body, a lack of desire or inability go high intensity, or due to potential increased hunger signals following an intense workout. Therefore, everyone who dislikes weighted ropes, or going very intensely, can burn exactly the same number of calories by simply adding an additional 10 to 15 minutes on to the end of a work out. If you look at the studies: I think it clearly shows that to burn the same number of calories it's always a case of "a shorter work out with high intensity" or "a longer work out with less intensity". I'm not arguing the point that weight ropes will provide more of a stimulus to muscles, but again, anyone who dislikes the use of weighted ropes can simply add some body weight exercises in with your jump rope workout. As long as you watch Dans workout videos, and either adjust your intensity or duration, you'll be on the road to achieve your goals.
@JumpRopeDudes
@JumpRopeDudes Ай бұрын
I agree with what you said abt extending the time to burn a similar amount of calories. However I believe there are greater health and physique benefits to pushing one’s body closer to its limits. Secondly, when making KZbin videos for the JRD community I recognize we have people of all ages / athleticism / weight / genetic factors etc. So for that reason I’d rather say “go as intensely as YOU can” rather than suggesting some ppl do one thing and others do something else. These videos are meant for you to interpret and apply to your particular situation. Basically, I just want you to do what feels right and best for you 💪🏼

Im no expert, just a guy who has recently taken up jump rope, Thanks to JRD. It could be a number of things, if your new to ropes (or running) your knees might not be strong enough yet, call it a shock to the system. Aches and pains come with the training, but if it's more serious, go get checked out before taking on any new activity. I switched to jump rope because running hurt my knees too. Ropes have much less impact. - Warm up with stretches before jumping, ankles, knees and hips, while your at it, do shoulders and neck too. couple of minutes will do. - Stay on the balls of your feet, Landing on your heals increases the impact. - Consider your footwear, I just got Nike GT cut academy basketball trainers. They help me loads. Running shoes work too - Jump on a mat. - Maybe your jumping too high - I did this too. you only need to jump enough to clear the rope, if you keep catching the rope with your feet, focus on technique. (it does get easier, just takes time) - also consider the Crossrope Rope-less system. Just until your joints get stronger. I use them and for me they work just as good. you will naturally jump lower as you don't need to worry about the rope. - Knee supports - until your knees are stronger. - Add body weight training to the routine (push ups, squats, jumping jacks etc.. ). it makes you stronger, your still moving, and gives a little break from jumping. Check out all the great routines from Jump Rope Dues videos. They are great.

I hope this helps - I'm a runner (but started jump rope thank in large part to this channel 😁) and shin splints for me indicates one of or a combination of overuse and a problem with shoes or the fit. If it's a case of overuse/fatigue, it means I increased activity too quick and I need to dial it back. Also, consider your shoes and the fit. With activity, your feet swell and what might be a good shoe fit in a store will now result in your shoe being a half or full size too small. First, consider arch support insert if your shoe has a removeable insole. I use to use Powerstep but there are many good ones available. Lastly, maybe it's a case of your shoe life running out and time for new shoes? I know it might be a little pricey but I really recommend visiting a local running store and having them properly recommend shoe type and size. There are varying levels of arch/ankle support in shoes and I've always found the advice at the running shops to be worth the price. Best of luck!

I always make sure to stretch my legs and ankles and warm them up. Don’t just get off the couch and start jumping. That helps a lot. And drink water

Man boobs make sure if it is just fat or breast tissue...if it's fat, exercise and diet will help get rid of it, but if it's breast tissue (gynecomastia), I'm sorry surgery is the only option.

I think weightlifting is awesome and used to lift a lot I just don’t do it anymore because I don’t like going to the gym. I like exercising outsides and using my body (pushups, pull-ups, jump rope, surfing)

So to be clear, Dan… You do not use any kind of iron weights or enter a gym ? That’s the way I wanna be. I want to quit weightlifting. I don’t want to spend all this time. I’m nearing where my body should be. And I don’t want to live this weightlifting lifestyle anymore.
