I'm 34 and kids tell me I'm too old to start Skating. So 10 months ago I started skating with the help of Skateboarding made simple. The BEST step by step instructional videos available. I'm no Shane O'Neil... 😂 but I'm happy where I'm at with my skateboarding. Thankyou Aaron Kyro and the Braille team. Much love from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺

Krys Marsh It’s a good idea to start skating late in life, that way you can get a head start on your knee and back injuries before you hit retirement. Hey if you break your hip at 34 you can learn to use a walker before you get real old.

I've been loving skateboarding since I was just a kid but there was any mentor in my hometown, then I discovered your tutorials wandering randomly on youtube and in few hours I developed an addiction to braille videos, so I've bought my first complete on internet and following each single step I've started to pushing around my board, developed confidence and tried the first ollie of my life, after each step of pratice after experiencing frustration I landed it, it was so beautiful, an amazing feeling. Now I just can't stop having fun with my board skating around every corner of the town. I just keep the board with me every day everywhere and it's so satisfying praticing and progressing in it day by day. thanks a lot to all braille members for doing these educative videos and entertain us. Skateboarding is most of all heart and discipline applied on the board everyday, and I honestly think that without your videos this probably remained a desire stored in my wardrobe. Thank you guys, keep rockin' it with your vids

Hi guys! I'm a great fan of yours, I follow Braille Sk8 channel since Aaron early kickflip tutorials and I really appreciate everything you do for new skaters. When I was a teenager I would have loved to have any tips on basic and advanced tricks but I had to rely mostly on VHS pro videos as in my town there were no skaters at all (I'm from southern Italy) and everything was super hard. Your videos helped me when I got back on my skate and even though I've got some major problems with herniated discs in my spine (well yeah I'm actually 34) I hope I will never quit and your videos will always keep me inspired and eager to skate more! Thanks a lot guys, keep pushin'!

That's just crazy. She just learned to Ollie in aprox an hour and a half! It took me almost a year or more to learn to Ollie by trying to figure out the movements and break it down on my own. At this rate she will land a rolling 360 flip within a week or so lol! I would definitely say that the videos absolutely work. I wish I had them 20 years ago!

veteran skater, I am in love with how the system breaks down tricks into the base components. fundamentals are so important. When I coach the youngsters at the local skatepark I take a similar approach, but I was super impressed to see her pick up the base movements of an ollie so quickly. When every skater learns how to ollie, they basically go through thie same process, but fumble around it, and try to juggle the components in various orders until it clicks. this wastes a lot of time. I am super happy that someone took the time to break it down. The internet is amazing, for many other reasons, but in regards to skateboarding, it is great to have resources like this. Back in my day, we had to fumble around in the dark, tons of trial and error, talking with friends, and figuring out tricks on our own without resources. it took much longer to hammer out tricks.

I get you're just wanting to pitch a cool idea so I'm not hating with this comment, but trust me this would not go well at all and there's a very strong likely hood that one of the guys would snap their ankle or ankles. Climbing shoes are built as stiff as they are because when Climbing your ankles and feet down move around that much and that quickly, but with skating that stiffness can very quickly become a problem.

AARON! Something you mentioned on SMS 1 that really helped me that you didn't mention in this video was to lift your front foot as fast as you can right after you get a good pop with your back foot. It doesn't look like she's lifting her front foot fast enough. That tip was a game changer for me last year and now I can easily ollie layed down full size trash cans with total confidence. Thanks for that.

I did the same, except I knew how to pop the board really good, I do get off the ground, it was just the foot sliding motion I had troubles with at first. Now I do both a good strong pop and I slide my foot till it reaches the nose (I can see the white mark on my board), but I can never land on the board. The board keeps going too far forward and I end up landing on the tail and falling backward. (I am trying it on grass, if I did it on concrete I would definitely slam my head a few times doing that).

@p00ktube
@p00ktube 6 жыл бұрын
+Ignitable Virus I agree. You can really see it well in Aaron's slow mo 'how to ollie' videos, but they don't actually talk about it. As a kid I wish someone had told me that, because I just kept mashing the tail against the ground and trying to jump off it. It's like an entire step that Braille never mentions. You pretty much can't pop until you've taken your weight off the board, which is where the tip of the back foot comes into play.
@Jin_Jon

I'd have to agree. There's no explanation of the 'pop', which is super crucial, and makes the front foot sliding up the board possible

I watched all the ollie lessons and I still can't figure out where I'm wrong. I did the steps a million times and feel I got a good hang of it, and I actually do manage to jump once every few tries, but the problem is my board spins behind me and either goes out of control or I land the ollie 90 degrees sideways. Now before you jump, no it's probably not my shoulders. I've looked around on the internet (there's actually a Braille video about this too) and most say don't turn your shoulders. Well I did every trick in the book and it still turns. I even held on to a crossbar in front of me to ensure my shoulders stay pointed forward but my board still keeps turning. I just can't understand where I'm wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe you are flicking your foot the wrong way try and flick forward you might be flicking sideways

Thanks for the answer first of all. I think I'm doing it right. I did the second step a million times and I'm consciously trying to push my foot straight up the board. I filmed myself doing it but it's to quick for me to figure out, since I'm obviously not an expert and can't really analyze it. I don't have slow mo on my phone :-/

That would happen to me a lot too. The secret is keeping your leg that slides up very straight. Without knowing it, you’re slightly shifting your weight to one side and that’s why you don’t land straight and do like a little angle.

you might be scooping the board with your back foot rather than popping straight down, maybe try popping the board up with only your back foot on the board, get it to go straight up and strait down

here's a tip that helps me a lot: stand on flat ground and just jump straight up. then, jump with both feet but drag your front foot up like you were doing an ollie. now with the same timing do the same exact thing on a skateboard. also the three most important parts in an ollie are: popping hard enough with your back foot, correctly dragging your front foot up the board and kicking the board down at the right time, and timing.

i got a suggestion for the ollie many people keep there foot way too far to the middle when i learned how to ollie myself i put my front foot on the bolts and slowly worked it back so my foot could learn the motion but its shorter. might be usefull to give that a shot for people who are new

Surprisingly, I learned the heelflip before I learned the Ollie. Being goofy footed, I'd always kick outward with my heel inadvertantly while I was trying to learn the Ollie and then finally landing a heelflip. The Ollie took me such a long time to learn but I did master it: 3 or about 4 feet off the ground pushing my front foot forward, bringing up my back foot so if I were to Ollie a bench or a fire hydrant, my back trucks would clear it. Chloe here is learning much faster than I did. She'll be skating in no time.

Between SMS and Skater Trainers I think it put me on a good pace to progression. Most of my riding is to the office so it's not like I can attempt ollies and stuff on the way. I think I would get some odd looks running around with ripped slacks. So the days I can't get to the park, I get my board with the Skater Trainers and practice. Good job Chloe!

I think the biggest issue i saw with a few of her earlier ollies happens to be the same problem i had when learning heel flips. she was dipping her head rather than keeping it over her body. typically the board ends up behind you when you dip your head.

This video was made to show that it works, not an actual test.For something to be biased, it has to be based in opinion. Maybe if he was reviewing SMS it would be biased, but just showing that it works for a beginner skater is not biased in and of itself.
@rageagainstthetoymachine2410

it DOES work, so even if the video WAS biased it would still be factual. I've never seen any other trick tip videos break it down to a science like this, with the practice steps and shit, wish I had something like this when I was just learning how to skate, even today i'm learning a few things from the more advanced SMS videos.
