Thank you to shotgun for being target practice for the F-22 it can't be much fun to constantly get shot down by this thing lol and a very big thank you to Grinnelli for his work on the F-22 and his massive contribution to the community.

I had a suggestion for an encounter. As Russia is, from what I understand building 12 SU-57's from current orders against NATO forces they would likely be heavily outnumbered. Perhaps a 2 or 3 F-18 / -16 / -15 vs. 1 Felon or even at some point a 4 vs. 1 scenario where the 57 has to beat the odds. Maybe explore these limits for both aircraft. Just how many adversaries can they manage on their own and perhaps a 2 ship flight vs. a squadron one day.

Former Raptor pilot "Dozer" commented on a forum; On takeoff at full combat weight of 70,000 lbs, pulled pure vertical at 570 knots and at 30,000 ft, noticed slight buffeting. When he checked the airspeed he was at Mach 0.99. Would be good to see how well the Raptor zoom climbs above its next opponent. Now, does anyone still believe each engine produces only 35,000 lbs thrust? GS, seems you can score kills using only your pinky toe in the Raptor.

Only 35,000lbs? Those engine are currently the most powerful on a fighter, also the F22's airframe is cosiderably lighter that it's predecessors.

The Raptor has the thrust but due to the 2D thrust vectoring nozzles that thrust is diminished. The F15 with 23,000 Ibs of thrust is 375mph faster due to a lack of 2D thrust nozzles. I expect the Raptor to climb pretty violently due to its lightweight fuselage. Though it probably can't break the sound barrier going vertical like an F15 can.

People try their best to make these realistic but at the end of the day nobody here likely really knows the true extent of these beautiful aircrafts capabilities and how they compare. The F-22 Raptor is more manuverable. So raptor would likely win in a merge. It's literally the major reason why YF-22 was picked over the YF-23. Can dogfight better.

@@myusername3689 The F-22 has 12 control surfaces. The inherent design of the YF-23 meanwhile left it with just 6. Making it difficult to perform advanced dogfighting tactics and manuvers. Against an Su-57 in a merge? It would be at a *disgusting* disadvantage as Russian or many other pilots could easily exploit the limited control surfaces of a hypothetical F-23, look how it's distinctive tail combines both functions of Rudder and Elevator. Also I *highly* doubt the YF-23 had better Turn Rate... Sustained or instantanous. Almost *all* sources say otherwise that the Raptor was more agile. Even YF-23 pilots said the YF-22 had apparently just "slightly" better turn rate.

Is thrust vectoring pre-computed into the control laws (whether in game or real life?) or can the vectoring toggled on/off depending on limiting IAS? Seems like you just begin the first circle, yank the nose around with the vectoring and get an AIM-9X off.

Real F-22 pilots snuck into Russia, landed undetected at the Sukoi plant, and changed the blueprints for all SU-27 variants. Now when they hit the cobra button the pilot ejects along w/ multiple balloons, and glitter.
