@loto maiava Only up to a certain point and genetics play a large factor. Big Ramy is way bigger than his coach who has no muscle (chris Aceto). Sure knowledge comes with experience. But I've seen way too many big guys spew absolute garbage information to the public. Some guys can get big and shredded without even trying. The correlation between knowledge and physique is certainly not a strong one. Tons of coaches of professional bodybuilders are far smaller and much more knowledgeable.

Eating one large meal a day does seem less than optimal for maximum muscle gains. However, occasional fasting has lots of benefits like letting your system clear out, increasing autophagy, as well as increasing insulin sensitivity and strengthening your will. I do a 20-24 hour fast every other week, and break the fast with bone broth. Let your body digest food for 1-2 hours before going to bed. That allows it to do other important things while you sleep other than digesting food. It's better for your brain, esophagus and gut. I train fasted but not a deep fast. Only about 12 hours, then workout, then eat. I think it makes you weak if you can only exercise when you are perfectly fed. I would much rather be adaptable. In nature we would have to be able to kill or find food even while hungry, not after we had our perfect meal. At first training fasted felt like I was going to die, but now it doesn't matter. I feel like I can go on forever. Have been making better gains than ever, but my goal is overall health not just size.

You dont burn muscle when you are fasting as your body digest weaker damaged cells after it uses up all the glucosw and fat stores. Basically your body uses glucose first, then fat, then digests the weakest cells in your body for energy (autophagy!!!) which is incredibly anti-disease and anti-inflammatory and GREAT for anyone especially those that push their bodies. Just an FYI. And Especially if your in ketosis your body goes into a muscle sparing mode where your body will not break down muscle(i forget the chemical released that keeps this from happening) unless your life depends on it. He makes some sense here but not all of what he is saying is totally true. Respect but not all accurate info. In the 90's these methods of esting 5 or 6 times a day where created by bodybuilders and i followed them but now we know about hormone manipulation ( for those of us that lift naturally) , autophagy, & inflammation intelligent diets, etc.

Human beings have been on this planet to 6 million years, our bodies have evolved to stand temperatures and time without food. Insulin receptors activate to store carbs as fat for periods of time when food is not around. No human in this period are every 2 hours. When we don’t use this ability to use fat reserves we lose this ability, we become insulin resistant. Our bodies have a duel fuel system which is amazing, if we never reach ketosis are bodies will lose this ability. When the body is fasted it goes into Fight or Flight mode, it produces HGH and other important hormones. In response to acute stress, the body's sympathetic nervous system is activated by the sudden release of hormones. The sympathetic nervous system then stimulates the adrenal glands, triggering the release of catecholamines (including adrenaline and noradrenaline). Your body will not lose muscle mass because of this flight or fight mode. A hungry animal is the strongest and most dangerous. There are many studies on this by doctors and scientists who have won Nobel prizes for this study. The body gives first priority to digesting food, it stops many functions when food is in the stomach. Only when the stomach is empty will the body start to fix problems, when the stomach is empty the body starts Autophagy, which is eating up foreign bodies like virus’s and dead cells and starts to renew them. Look at what the experts say in this field.

Bro, there are tons of studys, that truly prove, eating once a day. Is healthy. Super healthy. That's how humans started. Some did not eat every day. You have to catch your meal. There is a cancer center in Toronto Canada that cures cancer with fasting. Because your body eats the bad cells first. It knows what cells are bad and eats them. If you fast, your body eats bad cells and fat. You would have to have no bad cells or fat, before your body would eat your muscles. Every time you eat, your blood sugar goes up and your body does not burn fat in that state. Prove fact. That's why if you eat every 2 hrs, you will always have high blood sugar and never lose weight, unless you exercise. Eating every 2 to 3 hrs works with you because you work out. But a person who's lazy and does not want to work out. Eating once a day, will lose weight 100% over time. Just like you gain weight over time. If a person does not work out and eats like your saying every 2 to 3 hrs, that person will just keep gaining weight.

I have done intermittent fasting for 5yrs and I have stayed in shape after losing 5 inches off my waist 5 years ago. Every time you eat, your body releases insulin which will retain fat. You will only burn fat and heal if you stop eating for at least 10 to 12 hours. You already said that your body starts healing and recovering when you sleep. When you sleep at night, you are also fasting for at least 10 to 12hrs and that's also when your body releases natural anabolic growth hormones. So when you fast, your body releases growth hormones which burns fat and retains muscle mass. On top of that, if you fast beyond 18hrs, autophagy occurs which your body starts healing itself by regenerating new cells.

Mike ! huge fan of yours .. From a medical point of view , Eating each 2 to 3 hours a day is exactly the way to go if you want to pack up mass but the only problem with this approach is that each time you eat those high carb/ protein meals you get a huge spike of insulin , meaning you are having a huge spike each 2 to 3hours a day .Over a period of 2 to 3 years you start to develop insulin resistance which would eventually make you pre diabetic and may might end up having diabetic type 2 . You can’t just say don’t fast at all but you should rather encourage it . May be after 6/7 days of constant eating every 2 to 3hrs , you take a day off for fasting . This would greatly improve your insulin sensitivity , allows your body time to reset ,and even build more muscle when you come back to your routine . Most importantly you won’t run the risk of becoming pre diabetic

Great for bodybuilding bad for longevity. I'm trying to find the balance between aesthetics, performance and longevity. Intermittent fasting helps balance out inflammation, reduce risk of cancer from too much cell proliferation from stimulating protein synthesis every couple hours. Today we are bombarded with way more toxins and environmental stressors than we were say 20 or 30 years ago. So we have to keep that in mind. If you want to age quicker and increase your risk of cancer eat every couple hours. I prefer 3 meals and a pre and post workout protein/carb combo.

You don't digest your food immediately. If you fast for 3 days you are still passing the food for 3 days. That means you are still obtaining nutrients for 3 days after eating.

Let me explain why it works. IF usually used for fat loss.Dummies eat 2 meals a day, 1000 kcal each. Their maintenance 2000 kcal. Then they go to the toilet and flush 200 kcal from each meal that leaves them in the deficit of 400.

I went thru a cutting phase with a friend. I went from doing a three day split of heavy basics to a six day split of 7-8 exercises per session/ up to 30 total sets. I was on a low carb diet to start with but dropped the carbs even lower and tried intermittent fasting. 16/8. What I noticed is my strength kept climbing as my bodyweight dropped maybe 5lbs in a two week period and leveled off. Eventually, my strength increases also flatlined on some exercises. I never forged myself on 300g of anything. The two meals I ate after working out and my all day job were moderate. Before all this, I ate 5-6 small meals a day and my total cals were maybe 2000 on the high side, 1500 otherwise and I've built muscle. Yes, I'm natural. Only supps were vitamins which everyone should take anyway unless u live on a farm and grow ur own food. What my results were is that I lost some fat and maintained muscle and kinda got ripped. Honestly, I don't believe we need all that food we're led to believe and the body is still absorbing food for hours, even days. No I didn't lose muscle. If anything, when I ate normal again I felt pumped all day and I got new pr's in my lifts. Nothing works forever. What worked in the past probably won't work as u progress thru the yrs.

Just do a morning fasted cardio, eat a good nreakfast meal, and small meals throughout the day while low carbing, and train like a beast. And some anabolics can help keep alot of muscle wasting away even while cutting.

It actually takes more discipline to space your meals out and not give in to hunger cravings than it does to gorge yourself on one big meal. That's why people like fasting so much...they only have to eat one or two big meals but that doesn't mean it's a better way to get your nutritional needs met.

5 - 10 more years of this way of eating and your pancreas will be shot. Never in history has food been so available. We’re not meant to eat every two hours, lol. Caloric restriction is actually one of the only things shown to matter when it comes to longevity. How many 280 lb. centenarians have you seen?
