I was a finalist for a job that I didn’t get. The job re-opened at the same company a year later. I figured they had my resume already and would reach out if they were interested. I wish I had watched this video back then, but this will never happen to me again. I’ve also seen jobs I turned down for another job, in a difficult decision, reopen years later, but I felt embarrassed to apply after rejecting them years earlier.

This video made me realise that I'm really overthinking things. There's a company that I've applied at twice for an internship. Rejected both times because they didn't have a suitable internship project. Felt awkward doing it the second time, since they already got my application once. Would feel more awkward applying a third time, which would be for a real job. I'm overthinking it. I'm not going to lose face just by applying a third time when they haven't even met me. I'm not even uninteresting to them. I will apply once I've graduated. That's all that's needed. Just do it. The world is just that simple sometimes.

True, I applied for a position at the company for 3 years! Then, I finally got my foot in the company. It was very hard, when I spoke to their hiring manager they shared with me that the internal dept had a person internally set up for the role, but the hiring manager was required by the HR dept / policy procedures that the manage ris required to interview 3-5 people outside of the organization. I went thru 3-4 months.

Thank you for your videos, they've been helpful to me in this difficult time of trying to find gainful full-time employment. Here's my story: I worked just shy of 20 years in luxury home goods sales here in NYC, including furniture. Recently, March 17, 2022 to be exact I interviewed for an "assistant to a salesperson" at a great furniture company. When I interviewed I asked towards the possibility of transitioning into sales. The answer I received was "The turnover for salespeople is very low and in fact, a salesperson who left, wants to come back." I let that go and followed up with an email saying "I'd be more than happy to be an assistant because that way I'll learn this particular business from the ground up." I received a response thanking me for my email and that they're "still looking and they've not made a decision." That actually gave me hope. Then I noticed recently that as of April 4, this aforementioned company is posting an available position in, you guessed, SALES! The question I have for you is, should I apply for that though it's not the position I tried for previously yet expressed interest in? I feel it's a grey area.

I once applied to a job that I really liked and wanted. Then, as they were pretty close to my home, I even went there to ask about the job. They told me that due to xyz social situation they don't hire animore and they already have all the people they need. Okay. But the ad was still there. Knowing the situation I have ignored that ad. Then, after a month or so, the add was renewed. And, surprise! It was about the same location. Perfect, I said. No matter what they say, I'll apply again! And, when I was checking on my previous application, I noticed that it was never read! I was very disappointed but I have applied again. The same - they don't even bother. Then what's the point in posting ads if you never check on the applications? This is either a sign of incompetence or of fake hirings.

I know someone who did this who didn't get hired. Several month later, same role became open. He applied a 2nd and 3rd time within 1 yr. This person was definitely a perfect fit for the job. They were interviewed the 1st time only and after that, no interviews, just an auto reply saying they've moved on with another candidate. After the 3rd application, they said they were no longer going to accept his application, according to the hiring manager. I'm like, what the hell is that about? If he fits the role, u guys didn't have any complaints abt him, then what happened? I still don't know till today.

For me, the worst that would happen is that they would blackball/blacklist me if they still see me and failing the interviews over and over. I’ve tried for at least a decade trying to get a better job and I have no luck, even reapplying to jobs I applied to a month prior. I eventually gave up cause it’s like “why bother? They apparently don’t like me and have blacklisted me, or just flat out ghost me”. This video just hits home for me since I’m trying to escape retail hell and into a better paying full time job with benifits and better hours.

Seeing people sit at a computer applying to thousands of job applications is an ugly sight. People who waste time putting in applications could be spending time to invest and become their own boss and run their own company. It's a shame that kids aren't taught how to properly manage their money in order actually manage their own companies when they do become adults. People can literally easily make $90,000+ a year, but they settle for jobs that pay only $30,000-$50-000 simply because they don't "believe" that they can run their own company or employ themselves.

I have seen people get blacklisted from entire industry for reapplying 3 times. The algorithms figure if you are not a match that it black your name our entirely. Better move because your options have been exhausted or switch professions.

About a couple months ago or so, I applied for a job and it a couple weeks later I get an email asking me for an interview. I pass the interview with FLYING COLORS. They call me the same day and ask me to come for a second interview a couple days later. The interview with the second manager went OKAY. He said, this process will take a couple weeks and if you get the job and if you do not, we will let you know. TWO weeks come and go and nothing. The third week I emailed them asking them if the position was still open, and I got an email back from one of the hiring managers saying, "We are still in the middle of things, as we had some unexpected other staffing changes." I replied to them saying that is understandable and thanking them for their time and consideration. And she replied "Please keep checking what we have posted, just in case." So, I went on the company website, the position was just re-posted today. I tried to reapply but it stated that my application for the position was already in the system. I am not sure if I should email the hiring manager again.

I've applied 2 x to several companies but then regretted it. Unless you really LOVE what they do and it's your dream job, I say pass on reapplying to the same company. Of course, "persistence" is great and may work out or they will think you're desperate.
