I hate to add insult to injury, but us true Knick fans hated having Randle on the team. You’re 💯% right. He don’t care about defense. It’s a shame, because he’s a good defender, when he wants to play, which is very rare. We just wanted him gone. Even if it was for a cpl role players. Also, Deuce wouldn’t work (money out must be > money in). Same for Wolves. It would need to involve a third team. Can’t aggregate salaries if I remember correctly given our cap situation. So you likely need a team that wants a contract like Mitch which won’t be the Wolves already with Gobert and Naz.

Lots of comments below by fans who don't understand how the NBA works. League rules. You trade a player away; you can't re-acquire that same player in the same NBA league year. NBA league year runs from July to July. It doesn't matter how many times a player is traded in between, waived or whatever. There is no loophole not even a three-team trade can make it possible. If you trade a player away for value in return you can't reacquire that year. Knicks can't get Donte back until at least July 2025. Knicks are going to be a Second apron team next year. To get DiVincenzo back the Knicks will have to trade for him and trade someone who makes more than his 11 million per year salary. The only players on the Knicks roster that could be traded for Donte next July would be one of the five starters or Mitchell Robinson. So, who are you going to trade away? Not impossible to reacquire after next July but also not very likely. DiVincenzo is under contract for the next two season after this year. The earliest he could sign with the Knicks as a free agent will be the summer of 2027 and like I said New York will be a second apron team so they could only offer him a vet min deal that summer. Second apron teams do not have access to a Mid-Level exception to sign free agents. Long story short. He's probably never playing for the Knicks again.
