This video is for everyone feeling overwhelmed by our modern, fast-paced lives. It's for everyone that tried a dopamine detox before but tumbled right back into old habits
We're going to look at a dopamine management strategy that will work in the long run without being unrealistic.
But, have a look at the video and you will see.
I truly hope the little tips and tricks help you as much as they helped me.
It was the very first time that I got my phone and media consumption under control.

Thank you for this video. I am a scientist and try to tell people this dopamine detox is not what they think. I made three videos in this topic. I think more creators should talk about the truth more and more.

I very much agree. It also seems on us to find manageable and sustainable strategies to keep the negative impact of living in reward rich environments as small as possible :) Hard topic to tackle tho

I watch Kalle Flodin a Swedish KZbinr that lives in the woods in northern, Sweden, has the type of life he wants, but mentioned he is not always happy all the time. And living out in nature is not always sunshine and rainbows but hard work as well.

Happiness or, let's calm it calm and peace is to find within than around us. Even tho I think nature helps a great deal 🙂

Great video. When I tell people I’m trying to minimize easy pleasures they think I’ll get burnt out by doing too many hard things, but I always seem to become the most burnt out when I mindlessly indulge in the cheap dopamine hits.

Thanks a lot, Jake :) Very much agree with that, I yet have to get burnt out from discomfort and physical work. But give me two hours on SoMe and the world falls apart

A stunner of a video, Till! Your production style is getting more flair, with the camera work and editing choices. As someone who can often fall victim to that distorted sense of purposelessness, it’s nice to see your leveled approach to decluttering one’s sensory palette. I’ll try to take your approach to my own life going forward, kind sir! Wishing you all the best! 💪✨

Thanks a lot James! This one took a while to produce... It felt like the right choice not to let us have a choice. In the end we are all pleasure driven... Wishing you all the very best too! 🙂

Great video Till! For the most part, if I have something planned or to do during the semester I am good like that. My mind is pretty much like, "We have to get this stuff done!" I tend to have the opposite problem of taking a break but I am learning to time them better. However, now that the semester is over for me I seem to be going on KZbin a lot more. Other social media sites I do not have a problem with though. Also, I un-followed a lot of gaming streamers with a few exceptions and I do not game a lot anymore only once in a while. I found that it was for the best I kept getting distracted and although, I see the benefits with gaming and played great games in the past, it also provides the illusion of accomplishment to some extent when that time could be used to really do something. For example, understanding more words in Swedish it is a bit of a small dopamine hit but the rush is not so, huge that I feel like I am coming down off a large high which makes me want to progress. The same with Tv. Typically, I only watch TV on weekends and only for a few hours. As for coffee I have limited it and I am getting used to dark chocolate. I still eat my favourite chocolates from time to time but it is nice to not feel all bloated and gross.

That's a very good path you're on there! It feels to me like caffeine usage makes it easier in general to get lost in KZbin or other social media :) and generally the less structure the more opportunities to slack. Self-employment is a tough one in that regard 😅 great that your keeping the gaming under control. I guess for many streamers and professionals it turned into work nowadays

@@tilldaling I used to watch BigBossIncarnate, not any longer but he told me he wished he would have learned German earlier in life before he became a gaming streamer because now, daily streaming is literally his job.

I definitely think that TV, videogames and social media, has had a long-term negative impact on my life and will continue to do so until the day I get my discipline in order. It has heavily affected my way of thinking and my attention span. I deleted my Facebook, Twitter and Reddit account 3-4 months ago and use much less time on those platforms. But instead I have substituted it with Discord, KZbin and Netflix. The "effortless rewards" as you describe, I think is a good way of thinking about it. It's not that dopamine is bad, but there are definitely "healthier" and more fulfilling ways to get it. My current lifestyle as well as my friends' definitely don't follow the "everything in moderation" principle. Perhaps if I were to seek out dopamine/pleasure from completing a long hike, projects, studying and exercise, I'd feel less guilty about it. To do this though, I feel like a hard reset is needed for me to get on a good track long-term. To completely disconnect my gaming PC and only use my laptop for study and work. Then when I'm bored, substitute it with something like podcasts while going on a walk and stuff like that. Some time ago I also switched to a dumb phone, and I used that for a couple of months. It helped me quite a bit socially, since after a while I didn't have the constant urge to check my phone. Some technical things made me not use it, but I recently bought another dumb-phone, that does not have these problems... perhaps it's time I make the change. This video was very motivational (and very beautifully edited as well!), so I just felt like I'd share. To express what your video made me think about.

It did so with mine as well. I'm not sure if discipline is doing so much tho. It sounds like freedom could be great for you, depending on if you have an android phone. Podcasts can be quite similar tho, with loads of information, and little effort. I'm very glad you are feeling this way about the videos here, maybe together, we can start a movement toward a slightly slower life :) Cheers, Till

I watched a movie about child slavery and felt jealous of the children. Not Kidding. They were mining for Micah. I live in Canada where for ten months there’s practically no sun and everything turns to ice. Theres an abundance of purposeless and meaningless fast food jobs, but because employers prefer hiring only immigrants, they are even hard to obtain. This all sounds like complaining and making excuses, I know.
