so i think this boils down to its business not wanting DL on the team is fine, they can hire or not hire whoever they want. the fucked up thing is the lying to Steve and mis representing your teams interests to DL. just say your not comfortable with having him on the team and you can or can not give him reasons thats up to you but dont kind off pretend you want him on the team then ghost him while telling others its him or you and that is it. Dodo is doing like grade school behind the back shit and who knows if Steve knew about it unless Steve comes out and sais something which he wont.

Lets be real Doublelift during the last 2 entire splits of his career( NOT including 100 Thieves Dlift). Was actually horrible lol. Man was struggling in the Seraphine/Enchanter bot lane meta. He couldnt play Senna as well previously and his mechanics took a nose dive off a cliff. These were the years that CoreJJ was still the Best Player in the North America. Dodo is still two- faced but I wouldnt want that version of doublelift on my team if my job and rep was riding on it. That dogwater all Korean TL is still bad but at least they didnt have to watch doublelift complaining about motivation issues playing with the Best Player in The LCS as a duo laner.

People tend to not realize how good he is, so im not surprise that TL was thinking to build a super team with him in it. The man retired came back and still manage to get 3rd in spring 2023, probably top 4 adc still in the league. I do think that he is unaware that they are people who hate him behind his back, based on his actions. Last point, people hate on him during Spring 2019 when he was "unmotivated" and replace by tactical. Just put it in perspective. 2018 he went to worlds and perform really well as his role but overall as a team, did not do well. Came back 2019, and probably his best performance, got a quadra, played well in almost all games, but again the team didnt do so well. On top of that RIOT came out with the new system where Spring Split holds no value to worlds. So you have a guy who played well in worlds for 2 years, let down by his team, is fair to be a little unmotivated. Since 2014 to 2019, this was the first time he felt drained and people assume he gave up on the game? On top of that, he has to play a 5 month in a spring split that had no value??. The man put ur team on the map, won you 4 titles, back to back twice. You cant give him a little pass? for one split that "DID NOT MATTER". The icing on the cake is, He went to TSM and won Spring split . Proved everyone wrong. Hes the GOAT of NA, so why are we shocked? that TL is considering to build a superteam around him? I truly belive he can come back today, on the right team and still placed top 3 or even win the split.

They were 3rd in regular seasons (while having a 0-2 record against the other 3 teams in the top 4 and 1-1 against the other 2 teams who made the playoff) and ended at 5-6th overall. So while technically they did get 3rd but really they were 5-6th with a negative winrate against non bottom 4 teams. Saying spring split has no value because it doesn't help you go to World is not a good argument as you think it is. Winning spring split means you get to go MSI, the only other international tournament where you get to see how you match up against the other best team in the world. He did went to TSM after his 9th place with TL and won spring 2020 but that is just more reason not to get him if he can just not try and sabotage the team whenever he want to. And this isn't 2020 anymore so he is very much washed.

Dom is right in that any GM would not want a player who "didn't try in Spring Split". But Dom is also glossing over the fact that Dodo was being a snake in the way he went about the roster acquisition stuff too. Steve communicated to Dodo that they should be in talks with Jojo. Dodo told DL he would talk to Jojo. But Dodo never called Jojo's agent. That's a huge red flag. Yes, a GM won't want to have a player who has a history of not trying. But a GM shouldn't ignore what the Co-CEO wants them to do.

Both things can be true. Dodo could be underminding Steve and signing DL is an insane thing to do after what he did in 2019. I don't see why these things both can be true(to people in the comments). You shouldn't want to sign DL, because the guy is clearly not motivated enough to play at a high level anymore. You shouldn't go behind the back of the owner who is employing you. Something isn't adding up here, and I don't feel like we are getting the full story from both sides. I think it is insane that anyone considered this guy for a team after hearing him talk about the situation. Seems like a spoiled brat.
