@Nick Thomas Absolutely! He's very smart. I too have believed for years now that no 2 individuals are equal. When feminists talk about man & woman needing to be equal I wonder if there are even 2 women who are equal to each other. Of course, the only real equality that can exist is legal equality i.e. making laws that are applicable to every individual regardless of the categories they may belong to.

Melanie Eccles here from Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. I'm feeling pretty intelligent right now because I listen to this very intelligent man - Douglas Murray, who has obviously read many books and written some too, and I agree with everything he says! Good on you to hit the many nails on the head. You conversation about Nicki Minaj. I am a straight white female who waited till I was 54 to get married. I struggled a lot growing up and into my 20's and 30's with my relationships. I came to the realization that what I was going through was a result of my influences and experiences up to that point and I started to understand that if I wanted the outcomes of my relationships to change then I had to change to course I was on, even if that course had been set by extraneous circumstances set forth by the environment I grew up in. Now, it was up to me to change that course and I did. When I see women flaunting their "stuff" in ways similar to Nicki Minaj, I think to myself, "what message are you sending and why are you doing this?" I learned that, in most cases, you reap what you sow. Having said that doesn't mean that men get to do whatever they want but the woman has to take her fair share of the responsibility for the outcome of the interaction.

I can listen to DM all day and must have watched a good ten hours already of him talking about his new book. Each time too he manages to come across as fresh (and not remotely peed off at regurgitating the same stuff!) but I'm so glad he brought up the mental health thing near the beginning of the talk. There's a holy trinity of mh disorders at the moment (aspergers, bipolar, and adhd) which many seem to be almost proud to be diagnosed with, because (i think) it marks them out as quirky, interesting, more sensitive - or that their suffering from the everyday slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, life etc, is somehow worse than that of the everyday person's. I do hope that Douglas takes this one further. Enjoyed the webchat!

In my opinion, the worst thing that could have happened is including aspergers into the autism spectrum. Classic autism is so far away from aspergers it is damaging the ability of those with classic autism to get the attention and services they desperately need. It puts an unrealistic expectation on their ability to move through life.

I keep asking..."Can you not be depressed, just as a normal human being without getting a clinical certificate anymore?". Today as soon as you say to anyone, I am not feeling good..or I feel low, suddenly everyone frantically, automatically asks "Have you been clinically diagnosed? I have been you know"....and its as if its a competition and stage to act dramatic a bit. It is ridiculous! Glad a rational celebrity saw this and called it out!

But that doesn't mean that the next ten Black applicants have to be hired just because that other man got shafted 20 years ago."

DOUGLAS: Brilliant, as usual. (Spoiler-alert: Identity Political statement!) As a 67 year-old Christian man, who has shared life with another (atheist) man for 36 years, we were once interviewed by EDDIE MAIR as to why I was so hostile to 'gay weddings'. I was unsure; but you have provided me with the answer. Whilst I was fighting just for my Human Right to live with another man, back in the 1970s, without fear of violence, that was ALL I wanted. I didn't want 'marriage'; because Heterosexuals need to sort out what THEY mean by 'marriage', to start with. For most of them it is certainly not ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN FOR LIFE! I see those who pursue 'gay weddings' as being just as shallow as many heterosexuals are: people who want a 'fuss' to be made of them.

tzi ling chew the point is that they are all crimes and they are all bad and they should be severely punished by law. But we have found ways to be reasonable and civil over how to reduce the risk on the first two but on the third one somehow half of the world’s population are the culprit (except the tiny minority of male feminists) and not a small percentage of people. That’s the equivalent of lumping the good neighborhoods with the bad ones for a theft that only happens in a bad neighborhood. I see all of them as bad crimes so not sure what the significant difference between them is.

At the root of these problems is a philosophical one: what constitutes moral conduct? What is morally good? And who decides? What exacerbates this situation we are in is that it is coupled with the demise of the teaching of philosophy in academic programs. And so we have people on the Right and people on the Left making moral standings that are devoid of introspection, and based on a lack of philosophical foundation, riddled with misconceptions, contradictions and obfuscation.

During the time I worked in the government upper management changed from men to women. It would seem that women would be more caring about the employees they managed but they were not. In fact they seemed less understanding of any personal issues that might show up in a workplace, more didactic, and in fact annoyed by turning to them to resolve any work issues. They mainly seemed to be concerned with their own career and could be quite brutal in taking over projects proposed and run by employess that seemed to serve their career goals. This might be a generalization, but it applied to the three women managers I had to work with.

Given what just happened to Jordan Peterson, do you still believe that in Canada, people are not told what to think?

Just watched this: informative and entertaining, thank you! In a lot of his interviews, Douglas comes across as quite serious (not surprising, given the subject matter), so it’s lovely to see his sense of humour shine through here. 👍

I am already reaching my 9yo daughter exactly that, being aware of how you present yourself to the world. The thing I'm focusing on now is how you don't need to show your flesh to look beautiful. Dress classy, it's far more attractive & gives off a completely different impression. It's hard bringing up both boys & girls but I'm 49 now & they're not going down any rabbit holes, I've learnt a lot over my time. Knowledge is power, teach your kids yourself, arm them with knowledge & the tools to think critically ✌🏻

If you don't mind a 60 something male give you some advice I'll tell you what I've told my 4 adult daughters. 1. Don't be a victim. Even if bad thing's happen to you. 2. Take responsibility. Not only for yourself but as much as you can bare for those you care about. There are no better lessons to teach the young :-)

At 5:20 Doug talks about the diseases that confer status vs. those that don't. That reminds me another thing that could almost make a book of its own and that is the ubiquity of syndromes or disabilities among virtually every school age student. I don't think there exists one young person who isn't at a minimum ADHD or autistic--I think either of those come as standard equipment with every child. That leads to the booming industry of special education. I can see in the future schools that, if they have an enrollment of 1,000 students, then it will have to accommodate 1,000 tiny cubicle like rooms for the one teacher that can adequately meet the ever expanding and specialized needs of every student or face litigation if heaven forbid that students in spite of all the accommodations that are made. When I was in high school 60 years ago, there was a special education class of maybe 20 youngsters who were so minimally capable of any kind of edification through no fault of their own, that the classes were just more or less baby sitting. Today, I don't believe a normal person could tell a special needs student from a highly functioning A+ student.

@@ChrisWillx honestly, just hearing articulate and thoughtful discussion keeps my sanity. Your mention re: the double standard applied to club behavior, and the impossible ideas that we are forced to accept resonated. As well as the " hands off" MGTOW approach that more men are embracing rather than wrestle with the social justice threshing machine.

@@ChrisWillx it's as if the social contract between the sexes has been voided, and men are acting like they are in a minefield. Because we are. False accusations on the job, or at school now carry lifelong consequences regardless of what due process finds.

At the end when you and Douglas were discussing statues the image of Rodin's "The Thinker" popped into my head. Except, instead of him sitting with head in hands he was bent double staring at his navel. That would so readily describe the era we are in. Great interview.

The 'overcorrection' point is an accurate description of many social issues, often the progress made on an issue isn't met with a relaxation of the lobby, only a larger cry for justice, inverse of the lone person shouting for justice to start a movement.

You had a show saying you pay a price if you speak out loud....Yes you do! The price I am paying is people don't like the Truth. They will use it against you, instead of listening. Now I don't know what happened but this means that you and I think way above ourselves and go beyond duty and make an effort for human kind. Not ourselves. So I need you to do me a favor. People are not able to understand a lot of this Truth I am talking about. But I need confirmation of something. My government is too young to understand. But what happens if you find some Truth that is not being dealt with no matter where you look? I want to reassure you I got your message on bi-polar. I have sat in many doctor's offices and have never been diagnosed with bi polar, and I have two sisters who have it. So if I have a predisposition to it, I am not diagnosed at this time. My husband is sick with PTSD if that is what your message was....But thank you. I am aware. Dissed by Judas. If you have any pull in England at all, go to Richard Dawkins and ask him for me, and get back to me, (is Evolution faster if chemistry supports that in our environment, because I have a huge belief that is what is happening in Evolutionary Biology). But tell him you have to think the whole picture for this_ Thank you....Please get back to me on my site....with just a yes or no! It so important because I have to talk to someone about this...It is the Health of the World at stake. Just tell me yes or NO! Carolyn D Hogarth @carolynhogarth

re: Anaconda and the dementing contradiction, let it play itself out. Let women who want to play that game play it. It is detrimental only to themselves. Men should simply learn to steer around that trap and let women who engage in that game fall into it themselves. Not a single woman who plays that game will *ever* be happy or if they eventually come out on the other side of it, they will have suffered a lot in the meantime.
