There are more than “dozens” missing and unaccounted for and many many hundreds of bodies still in morgues. I do not want to get graphic here. Unfortunately in the tens of thousands is the death toll & the mainstream media have been reporting around 300 dead… it is in the multiple thousands. My brother lives in Asheville. People on the ground doing the recovery work have the facts -as horrific as they are. 😢

I don't know that I believe that but I live in Hampton TN about 20 minutes from elk Park and we got flooded significantly. We were left to believe there were no deaths and yet the refrigerated body truck I seen in my very small town was big. Also seen dozens of recovery rafts coming in a cpl days after. That number sounds pretty high tho but there's no way you're going to tell me just a few hundred ppl died from this storm no way in hell. There was at least 20-30 ppl die that I know of in East TN

I watched another man was rescued out of his home there a week later. A mudslide had trapped him. He was alive, but died later in hospital. imagine a week alive trapped in home squashed by mud. Terrible

They talked about looking for bubbles in the mud to find people. That torrent of trees boulders houses cars was a freaking blender. Homeless camps. Communities towns. Camp sites. Houses 40 feet above the creek. Washed out. Rivers ran down those mountains where there was never even a stream.

After seeing videos of hundreds of boulders washed down by the flood waters, I’m afraid you’re right. Unfortunately there will most likely be many people never found who were washed away with those boulders and other debris. In my experience after a tornado, you have to ask for the grace to accept that loved ones are gone and make the choice to remember them as they were. It’s horrifically difficult but necessary to stay sane.
