I've been watching these videos for a couple of months, along with a few other KZbinrs passionate Nutrition and Health folks (Christopher Gardner, Mike Todorovic, Sten Ekberg and Wendy Suzuki). I was 298 pounds (I'm 62 years old - 5'9) in January 2021. I lost 40 pounds my first year, sticking to organic food (mainly Keto), little sugar and low carbs. I kept the weight off, but in April, I started taking things more seriously. Your videos are EXCELLENT. When adding daily exercise, and fasting 20-24 hours per day, eating no grains, processed foods, or starches, I lost another 20 pounds, but instead of water weight, it's fat. I am rapidly becoming an agent of change among my friends and family. I started studying nutritional science and body chemistry- how what we consume interacts and effects our anatomy and physiology- it is FASCINATING.. and it all started with your videos. THANK YOU for keeping things simple and to the point- it keeps me coming back for more!

Dr Berg THANK YOU ! I was diagnosed with type 2 and refused to take the medication. The integrated health provider told me it takes a lot of hard work , "I said I'll do the had work"! I went cold turkey on no carbs such as Chips, biscuits, pancakes, rice, pasta, bread and sweets. Wowza! I experienced that keto flu pretty quick you talked about. Started eating a lot of veggies & salad , some tuna and salmon. Then I discovered your videos. I'm so grateful 🙏 Immediately what you named and explained resonated with me. I didn't understand. I wish you had a clinic/health retreat that I could come to. I'm a two Time C survivor and cardiac patient. I am feeling more hopeful and physically better but still need to be educated. I watch your videos every day now. 😊 God bless and thank you again. Ely, MN

My mother, 93, got off of insulin shots at 92. Doing only low carb because liver is very limited. Teeth are not very functional for large salads. Mostly well done greens and eggs and meats. Surely you can beat that diagnosis and find more joy. We make lentil bread and eat chickpea flour for gravies and filling soups.

I've been doing Keto since March 1st 2018. I lost 78 pounds the first year and then I lost my way a little bit. I didn't gain the second year, but I didn't lose either. I have been just getting by. SO I'm not new to your channel but I felt I needed to revisit the basics and get serious again. I just celebrated my 47th birthday and after eating all of the things that I have been without, I remembered why I began this lifestyle in the first place. Ugh! I feel terrible!! After consuming too much food and too many refined carbs on my birthday, I asked my boyfriend "How did we used to eat like this ALL THE TIME??" He answered "Because we were miserable but didn't realize how miserable we were!" Thank you for continuing to educate! We love your content!

Honestly I respect Dr. Berg but I am a whole food vegan who consumes lots of healthy carbs. I need them for energy and glucose, yet I have no trouble with my weight and I am very physically active. I can eat whatever I want and will not get heavy. Fats are important but I doubt I consume any more than 30% fats. Look up the "Broad" study, it allowed people the ability to eat anything in any amount as long as it was whole food and plant foods only. People lost an average of 19 pounds each and even 1 year later did not gain more weight. It is the most successful weight loss study every conducted. cheers on your journey.

I rarely comment, but I feel I should, because with this information mixed with a little will power and determination, I've achieved one of the most difficult challenges of modern life: weight loss. I'm a 58 year-old male, medium height and I reduced from almost 180 lbs to under 160 lbs in less than 3 months. I just wanted to share some specifics and timing of my intake (sample): Morning (9ish): big glass of lemon water w/ACV, french press coffee w/organic heavy cream. Then a light workout, stretching and sprinting, etc 30 minutes, every other day.. Noon: eggs with veggies (cauliflowered rice is a great sub for rice) avocado, cheese 4ish : tea/coffee, water (sparkling or flat) 6ish: protein with salad, usually seafood like shrimp, salmon, or halibut, and a home-made dressing of vegan mayo, dijon whole grain mustard, balsamic, olive oil, pink salt, pepper.. Note: a tasty treat is 100% cacao with some nut butter and pink salt I have also had cheat days, veggie pizza being one choice, and ice cream occasionally.. I should note that I have not had any alcohol during this time, and I've come to realize that it has not been as difficult as I thought..my body worked with me as I progressed. Haven't felt this good in years!

0:24 INTERMITTENT FASTING - go as long as you can without eating - eat when you’re hungry - it’ll take 3-5 days to get into FULL KETOSIS (complete absence of cravings or hunger) - TMAD (two meals a day) with a 20-hour fasting period - OMAD (one meal a day) is ideal for people going through menopause, experiencing slow thyroid condition, and a history of dieting 2:45 WHAT TO EAT - 2 - 4 eggs 🥚 - avocado 🥑 - cheese 🧀 (not ideal for people with prostrate condition) - organic bacon 🥓 (with less than 1gm of sugar) - 2 T. almond butter or peanut butter - 3 - 6oz of meat - 4 - 5 cups of steamed or raw vegetables with olive oil balsamic vinaigrette dressing - a handful of nuts - salmon or sardines for omega-3 - seafoods - fat bomb - 6oz chicken with skin or chicken wings 8:04 KETO DIET TIPS - can consume vitamins any time of the day - 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar + lemon with water - 1 cup of coffee in the morning with MCT oil or coconut oil (skip oil if still not losing weight after two weeks of doing keto diet) - urge to snack? eat more green vegetables and healthy fatty foods - craving for carbohydrates like bread? take B vitamins or nutritional yeast - add sea salt to your diet WHEN TO EXERCISE? Morning is the *best* time when you’re in your fasting phase.

IF go as long as you can Try 2 meals in a 4 hour window. That gives you 20 hrs of fasting (4 eggs a day, avocado, some cheese, bacon, nut butters, vegetables [salads, raw or steam vegetables], olive oil balsamic vinaigrette for dressing, salmon or sardines or seafood, fat bomb, chicken with skin, wings, moderate protein, sages, olives [fat], apple cider vinegar, coffee [fat coffee or reg]. If you have an urge to fat it usually means you need more fat. Use sea salt. Best time to exercise in the morning while you’re fasting. You know you’re in ketosis is when you have no cravings, you’re not hungry anymore.

71 year old female here, packing the Covid 19 (pounds) and a few extra. I caught your video on ACV in water to lose weight and get off sugar, and it led me to all your keto information. Instead of being disgusting, the ACV/water combo was absolutely delicious! That was so right-on, I started about 4 days ago with a muddled version of Keto, but at least I cut out the sugar and known carbs. (Didn't know grapefruit and blueberries are a no-no.) I don't have a scale, but immediately, I had more energy, more stamina, better ability to concentrate - important because I am a writer and journalist-podcaster who needs her brain to be sharp. Every day I've been watching a few more of your videos and learning the rules of the road/tricks of the trade. IF today for the first time and amazed at how long I was just not even thinking about food. When I was overwhelmed with the desire to snack last night, I had asparagus w/ACV and olive oil rather than a wedge of cheese. Sleeping better, dreams clearer... and my pants are loose! Don't have a scale so I don't know the poundage, but I can see the loss of bloat in my face - there are angles and bones in there! Even more important, and something I don't see in any of the videos so far, is the change in my mood. From years of carrying around a low grade depression compounded by physical weakness, I suddenly feel... not just "better," but optimistic and (dare I say it) happy! When one gets to this age, there is always the fear that it's never going to get any better and it's all downhill from here. HAH! Keto is putting that to a lie. Walked double my usual distance today (my dog takes me for two walks a day) and felt like I could have done more. Have I finally found the way to eat that my body's been needing all these years? Is this not a "kook fad" but a truly scientific way to nourish my body for my best possible life? More will be revealed... including my hip bones. Thanks, Dr. Berg!

What happens is that most people work during the day and they r tired and hungry at night when they can cook and are so hungry they eat a lot… and even if they haven’t had enough time to allow for digestion…they are so sleepy they can’t wait and sleep. Force their body to get up early to work… but their body is full of quasi digested food…they cannot be hungry in the morning. Under those conditions (full stomach) some force breakfast and problems start

For those who are struggling with not eating. I suggest drinking black coffee n the morning, 2 hours after you wake. It'll suppress hunger all day, and now over 2 weeks of regular fasting, my minimum is 20-24 hours of fasting, no cravings no nothing. often I go over that and stop at 28 hours. The longer the best. I've noticed my heart palpitations have disappeared, and previous illnesses have subsided if not one altogether. Our bodies are marvelous things.

Hi! I need to watch his Step 1 video again. But, just for a quick synopsis: I just started Intermittent Fasting, and trying to combine it with the Healthy Keto diet he's recommending. I need to wait until I'm hungry, right? Even in the beginning? It's been nearly 24 hrs. and I'm really not hungry... Also, I'm doing it for health, not really for weight loss...maybe a bit of weight loss, but majorly for health. Should we just do this for a couple of weeks? Sorry, that part is not clear to me. (I believe if one eats a lot of meat, although I know he said 3-6 oz., I believe we have to watch our pH? Sorry, I'm a bit unclear about how this all works together and it doesn't appear that I can ask him directly? TYIA

I’m on my second week of keto as a pescatarian. I started the 12:12 for the first week and now I’m on the 16:8 … I start eating at noon and I can’t believe how two meals a day has been filling me up perfectly and it’s much more enjoyable then when I was constantly snacking. I was eating what you’d considered really healthy, I was 230lbs and came down to 195 but I plateaued for a couple months now because of my insulin levels. I always snacked on fruit especially frozen mangoes. so now let’s see if keto and IF takes the rest of that weight off because I’d like to be around 175.

With other diets i was always hungry, starving myself, basically just a pain, just waiting to get back to stuff myself with junkfood. Right now i just feel satiated after every meal, i barely go hungry, my mental clarity is through the roof, and ofcourse because of my lost weight, i can walk around more freely and just be happy in my skin. Thanks again! Jeroen from the Netherlands.

Dr Berg, I’ve shared your videos with all of my friends and family so they to can live a healthier better life. I can’t say enough about how much I / we appreciate these videos and your supplements. I watched one of your videos on fasting and I have benefited a lot from the 16/8 intermediate fasting. I don’t eat for 16hrs but eat for the 8 hrs and that’s about two meals a day. I typically will drink coffee (black) in the morning which carries me through to 1 pm when I might eat something but only if I’m hungry. This intermediate fasting has helped me control my appetite, lose weight and put me in a state where I don’t crave the junk foods anymore. I’ve learned a lot from your videos especially on insulin and weight gain/loss. I can’t say enough about how much I appreciate your videos and your vitamins/supplements which I suggest everyone should get. I have a lot more energy and mental clarity which I didn’t have before I started watching these videos and implementing them in my life. Not only did it stop my weight gain, an inexorable curse I hadn't been able to kick, but it drastically reduced my allergies and eliminated pain I didn't even know I had until it was gone. I couldn't do my current job without the mental clarity it gives me, so I can credit it directly for advancement of my career. Can't recommend keto highly enough! I eat between 12 noon to 8 pm. Between that time I drink coffee, tea or apple juice. Normally when I am flaring up from UC, I feel so tired and don’t want to do anything after work but just lie down and stay in bed. Intermittent Fasting and Keto diet really helped me a lot on my energy level and not pooping 20 or more times a day. I found Dr. Berg through KZbin recommendation and I am so glad that I did. Hello! Today it is my 100 day on Keto and OMAD and thanks to Dr Berg and this pattern I have lost 13 kilos and I just feel great! My blood values, electrolytes, sugar, magnesium etc are all in the normal parameters. I feel not bloating any more, no fatigue and I was hungry only at the begining about 3-4 days. I still watch the videos of Dr. Berg to maintain my motivation because I want to keep Keto and IF for the rest of my life. PS My whole skin is more luminous and clean. Thank you, Dr. Berg and nice greetings from Austria!

a tip for a good keto drink is lactos free milk or almond milk, coconut milk something like that (anything without sugar) mixed with cacao (just 100% powder no additives) and then a big lump of coconut grease in there and heat it up and stir. so basically just a cup of hot coconut-chocolate! i dont like coconut fat in coffee because it messes with the taste but with hot chocolate it works well. try it out.

Loving the new journey - I started watching Dr Eric's videos and everything he said made sense and I had no problems understanding the concept of ketosis. But after 3 weeks of strict keto eating I was getting worried as nothing happened then bang it all started to happen and the weight is now moving so Ive lost 2 kilos in the past week. I've never been a big eater and have always fasted so eating at 6pm then nothing until 1 or 2pm the next day is a perfectly natural thing for me. Im 56 and have been trying to lose menopausal weight for a number of years. I used to be a normal 60kilo and was this for all my adult life then wham, over the past 10 years Ive had 20 kilos creep on up and remain solid neither up or down for the past 2 years no matter how much I trained, dieted etc... Now Im into my 4th week on keto and Im eating between 1pm and 6pm, drinking my acv drink twice daily, Im not hungry and then when I am, its at about 1-2pm. I still walk 5-10km a day and Im not bloated anymore, my gut is starting to actually not distend after each meal and my diverticulitis is not as noticeable and quite calm. It will be interesting to see how the rosacea goes and if my joints stop hurting... I previously just put it down to getting old and such is life and had given up... but now Im super excited to stay on this journey... Im not even missing my evening glass of wine! no cravings for it whatsoever.... So my little fatty liver is thanking Dr Eric ...

I know those days, what to eat to stretch the dollar, while going to school. One time I was 2wks and 1/2 from eating, Rent went up and so did energy cost. Winter was a cold one. and I di not have any boots, or winter hat, or gloves. Had an exam coming up and had to study. I had Popcorn seeds, that was All that I had, I thought if I popped it with baby oil, I could have some thing to munch on while I studied. The turn out was not good. but the results what came out, was baby oil smell. . I hated those days. Far too many have NO clue how many college students trying to make ends meet, work and school , and pay does not cover much after all the school courses , books and supplies and transportation to make it. I wonder how many go hungry. Pasta is starch, and the sauce if homemade is full of sugar. Home made. is I think is ok. To day I can not afford Eggs, and fish, because to cut costs, I do not have a refrigerator, or stove/oven, too costly to Run and too cost to buy energy efficient . I know there are many college students living in their cars. or found an apartment building with a boiler room . I live in the North, and it is too cold to be sleeping outside. Problem is far too many do not know where there are resources for Free meal, at a Mission , or food banks. They are around, welfare sometimes helps. Hopefully you can find these places near you to be able to afford the vegetables and fish needed.

I do a modified kinda keto diet and I get close to the same results. Small breakfast and lunch with a bigger dinner. I don’t really fast other than post dinner and that’s when I work out to keep busy. A 30 minute to hour workout daily, under 1500 calories, no sugar and no carbs. That is melting pounds off without the hardcore fasting. I’m naturally a snacker so I just eat snacks under 100 calories with no carbs or sugar.

Alexbaltimore you could kick the snacks entirely if you fasted to one meal a day. If you feel hungry before the next meal, just consider more good fats with the nights prior meal next time. Trial and error. I have no cravings on the same routine otherwise

So the best thing to so is try to stick always to the keto. I love the awe on peoples faces when I tell them how old I am. Haha, vanity I know, but I used to feel so bad before. Still have to lose more, as I am not at goal by all means, but it is not that far. :)

I am astonished at hearing what we are able to eat on KETO. I do not know what planet I was on but when I did Atkins 20+ years ago, I did not think we were able to eat all that salad! Of course, I don't remember being able to eat so many fruits and veggies either! I realize the diets are different, but they are also the same. I am very happy about this and need to do a lot of research to broaden my knowledge and scope of foods. I was so depressed yesterday because I had brain fog and could find nothing I wanted to eat, which led to more depression and me wanting to call it all off! I was up at about 5 this morning with my computer watching Dr. Berg videos and ordering B1 vitamins to help me and count myself lucky for finding such a knowledgeable Doctor as him to guide me through this maze! You’ll be surprised at how easy that is to do. Although I’ve never intentionally done it, I sometimes haven’t eaten for 30-40 hours simply because I’ve “forgotten to eat” or quite literally haven’t had time. Once you’re accustomed to 20 hour fasting, you no longer suffer food cravings. I however, certainly wouldn’t consciously go more than 24 hours - intuitively that is, but I’m sure there is some science behind it!!

I started an IF routine before focusing on the details of WHAT I was eating, and did very well for over a week (which surprised me, I'm a boredom-snacker). Along with ACV in the morning I got my digestion straightened out quite a bit, my belly bloat was reduced, I had plenty of energy and just overall felt better. Then I weighed myself, and saw I'd gained 3lbs... xD So now I'm diving into the keto aspect of it to hopefully lose some body fat. We eat fairly healthy but I do love me some pasta and whole-grain bread, giving those up might be rough! Thanks for the videos, especially these that just touch the basics. I prefer developing one habit at a time, trying to perfect it all at once would almost guarantee failure. Small steps!

I’d been 170 for 2 years, now I’m almost to what my was before (160 for 2 years and before 140-145 for a few). Just gotta keep going to 128! FYI. I still feel hunger pangs though; yet crave no particular food. And cheat with diet soda every couple days. Trying to quit. I eat only one meal a day. Just started the big salad and it’s great! I think that Dr Berg offers great advice and a sound alternative to healthy living. But, with that said, Keto is not the only approach to losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I really like IF and it definitely has its benefits. I’ve been battling weight issues my entire life. So, I understand the consequences of being overweight and unhealthy. I learned how to focus on eating healthier, getting enough sleep and exercise. A caloric deficit is the key to maintaining healthier insulin levels, contributing to weight loss. I eat a bowl of rolled oats with a banana every day; I have a baked sweet potato every day as well. My insulin levels are in check and I’m not only feeling great, but I’m so much healthier. I’ve dropped a considerable amount of weight, and I find it easy to maintain this current weight loss. I realized that I was eating way to many calories a day; didn’t get the proper rest; and failed to incorporate exercise. I do IF and eat primarily 2 times a day, making SMART choices with my meals. I totally agree with Dr Berg on the importance of IF and how it effects the bodies ability to keep our insulin levels in check in order to burn fat. Everyone is different, and everyone will have different results. A caloric deficit is key to any weight loss program and insulin levels, especially combined with an IF style of living. Even Dr Berg says that although we’re not necessarily counting calories, a calorie reduction is evident when IF. So, don’t be afraid to experiment with different foods because Keto is not the only healthy option out there. And I want to be clear, I’m not against Keto. I just think that there are other options on the table for people looking to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
