I'm a registered nurse at VA primary care in Tampa. I wish we had someone like Dr. Cucuzzella there. The scale of metabolic disease I see every day is overwhelming....I'm tempted to mention low carb diet to my patients but I know I can't...

So much to learn. A great interview. Thank you. I’m 63 and have taken my life back with low carb and am about to go off my hypertension meds. Im doing this for my Dad who passed at 63 being a type two diabetic with cardiovascular disease. If only he knew this, it would have saved him and he would have really enjoyed the low carb way of eating . ❤

Dr. Cywes, what you said about difference in children putting on weight or not. I used to ask why did my mother and two sisters not put on weight but I was always overweight eating just about the same amount of food. My mother used to dish up our meals and made our sandwiches for school.we did not have junck food but I think the bread and pasta was the problem Only at the age of 69, a year ago did I come across you and a few other carnivore doctors. I have lost 20 kilos, lost all my joint pains and now have a good muscle mass that has rectified my balance issues. My digestion was a mess and is 98% cured. I still need to loose another 15 kilos. Thank you for your videis they are very useful to me.

Dr Cywes Question, you mentioned that lean protein doesn’t trigger a response of insulin. Is that to say it needs high fat with it to increase a response from insulin.(which I think the fat would actually not trigger insulin increase). But if one was on a carnivore diet eating 2 meals in a 4-6 hour spaced window(IF), each meal around 120-150 grams of protein with 30-50 grams of fat each meal, but no carbs. Wouldn’t the high protein eventually trigger an increase in insulin since the excess protein over 30-40 grams can’t be used up or stored, gets converted to glucagon in the form of gluconeogensis thus triggering an insulin increase similar to that as if you ate carbs. Thx

No. That's the Achilles heel of carnivore. Insulin is triggered by GLP1

@@robertcywes2966Have you recorded a separate podcast on GLP1 regarding the healing of insulin resistance and high blood pressure? I have a fasting insulin of 6.6, HBa1C of 5.7, blood glucose of 97, and BP of 130/80. Been on low carb for 7 years but can’t improve those numbers. I also do intermittent fasting almost every day. I also wear a Dexcom G7 intermittently for ten days. From your comments today, it sounds like I could benefit from a low dose of GLP1 to finally get better blood sugar and insulin numbers and get off BP meds?

Ask most type 1s that are Ketovore or Carnivore and they have to bolus for protein and fat. Yes, getting back into homeostasis is key, and nutritionally a goal. Now, I urge critical thinking about, not just the 'junk food' issues, but also emerging understanding of the 'junk light' adverse effects on all of us. Our current lifestyles are so pervasively becoming indoors living, but leaving our evolutionary adaptation to thrive in daylight orchestra of all wavelengths of light outside! Isolated narrow band of light produced by LED lights, has been taken totally 'out of context' and introduced as a sole exposure regime that is very toxic IMHO. Laws of physics actually DO apply to biology, who could have thought? Search: quantum biology of light, near infra red in daylight, for emerging awareness of medical harms playing into chronic disease progressions. Junk light, is hand in hand with junk foodIMHO.

Over and over again in this episode, his guest was making an important point and was about to get to the punch line, only to be interrupted by Dr. Cywes, who turned the conversation in another direction. We never got to the guest's point. Example: the story of the eight-year-old girl with fasting insulin on 90. What happened with her? We were just about to find out, when Dr. Cywes interrupted, and we never got back to her story.
