Hello. Here's a topic that I don't think is touched often in skincare videos. Most products I've tried and most products in general say to avoid the eye area. The problem is my eyelids have gotten extremely dark (hyperpigmentation) because of rubbing and eczema. I've been to the dermatologist who said the hyperpigmentation would go away on its own. I find this unlikely considering I had this for 15 years now. I've tried so many natural remedies and scoured the internet and cried because everything is either for the under eye dark circles or says to avoud the eye. Could you please make a video on products we can use on the eyelids and eye area that help with the hyperpigmentation there?

I'd like your thoughts on my current skincare routine (even from people, just to see if i'm on the right path?) Skin Type: Dry and Sensitive Skin, Rosacea on cheeks, with occasional hormonal acne on chin/jawline (leads to hyper pigmentation spots left over *sigh* ) Skin Tone: Medium-Tan (my pimples look red and then when they leave a mark its a medium brown colour) *Morning Skincare:* Double Cleanse: (First I use the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser and then I Cleanse with the Cerave Hydrating Cleanser) Toner: (I use the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Wild Oat Toner) Facial Spray: ( Cocokind Rose Water spray) Serum: ( either Niacinamide or Αlpha Arbutin, both from The Ordinary (TO) ) Facial Spray again Hyaluronic Acid from The Ordinary Cerave Moisturizing Lotion (the one in the tub) Drunk Elephant Protini Peptide moisturizer Eye cream ( Kiehl's avocado eye cream, im just trying to use it up, i dont like kiehls anymore after Dr V and Hyram's videos lol) One facial oil to lock everything in (I use very little as i find that my eyes burn if i layer tooooooo many products on my skin, i switch between Cocokind's Chia Oil or Viva Organics Jojoba oil as these are light weight for me) Rose quartz Roller to roll the oil (i doubt this works but its so cooling to the skin and i feel bougie LOL) SPF: Shiseido Clear Stick SPF 50 (no white cast!) *Evening Skincare:* (its lots of hydration dont judge pls) Double Cleanse: (First I use the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser and then I Cleanse with the Cerave Hydrating Cleanser) Toner: (I use the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Wild Oat Toner) Facial Spray: ( Cocokind Rose Water spray) Serums : (I layer vitamin C from Tatcha, Αlpha Arbutin from TO and Niacinamide) Hyaluronic Acid from The Ordinary Cerave Moisturizing Lotion (the one in the tub) Drunk Elephant Protini Peptide moisturizer Eye cream ( Kiehl's avocado eye cream) OILS GALORE! ( I mixed TO's rosehip oil, then Jojoba oil, Chia Oil, and The Body Shop's Vitamin E overnight oil), i mix 1-2 drops per oil in my hand, pat it on my face and roll with my rose quartz roller Spot treatment: I use Clean and Clear's salicylic spot treatment when I break out around that time of month or if i eat poorly, i have to find a different one as i just realized this has denatured alcohol in it :( Soooo.. Thoughts? Opinions? Be kind please! So far my skin has been improving, especially my pimple pigmentation, the only new product ive been using for a week is the Αlpha Arbutin from TO! The first day I used it my skin had a purging moment around my mouth and chin area but it went away the next day :O So far my skin has been hydrated, glowy and I wake up with plump skin and less redness! The one thing i noticed is that i need to keep my morning skincare simple or else my eyes burn throughout the day. But its so hard to keep it simple! I JUST WANNA LAYER EVERYTHING AND CLEAR MY SKIN RIGHT AWAY LOL but i guess patience is key haha!

Hi Dr Rattan. #1 fan here! Thank you!I'm 56. Never treated my face before. But just started as I'm wrinkling up faster than before. I'm taking notes from your videos and about following them - Ageing and Hyperpigmentation. My questions: 1. Can I start Hyperpigmentation Treatment without Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate? They ran out everywhere. 2. I used Drunken Elephant Sunscreen with plenty of CeraVe Moisturizer - Why did it dry out my skin so much? 3. I used CeraVe Moisturizer alone at night - it still dried up my skin as well 4. After applying moisturizers - CeraVe, Olay Regenerist, Srivectin, - I would find clumpy stuff on my face. Is it my skin peeling or the moisturizers' residues? 4. Olay and Srivectin do not dry up my skin. I'm puzzled ;) Thank you again!

Hi Doc, thank you so much for your informative video. Regarding the products you have used, I have two quries- 1. In your other videos with retinol, You have mentioned, we can't use ascorbic acid with retinol. But here the products that you have suggested contains retinol & the second one is ascorbic acid. Can you please clearify this and at what frequency we should use these as both are active ingredients? 2. Regarding this retinol, if we can't use it for the wrinkles around eyes can you suggest some brand names for retinol formaldehyde which will serve the overall purpose of anti-aging and which we will be able to use around eyes as well? I would highly appreciate your guidance regarding this.

Retinol and vitamin c formulated together is okay .they are formulated together in some encapsulated non reactive form ,at any case vitamin c would be very less and down the inci list . What she says when we shouldn't combine is being chemist at our bathroom and layering vitamin c and retinol by ourselves . Products that are formulated together are tried and tested . Hope it clears your confusion .

Thank you for this video! I'm a bit confused. Another Doc, whom you had on your channel, made a video a while back stating to not combine retinol with Vit. C. Would you be able to give any feedback as to why that would be a recommendation. Also, since you use sunscreen on your little ones, how do you cleanse their skin and what products do you use? I have a toddler and an 11 yr old. I am worried about the products I introduce to their skin. Thank you so much for all you do to keep our pigmented skin looking good! 🙌🏽

@@vysh-yz1lz hey I don’t think the two products recommended here were formulated together. If I don’t have those specific products available, I just want to understand the rule for combining vitamin c products with retinol products

Dr. V, finding you has been a blessing to so many of us. I can’t even thank you enough for taking your precious time to make these informative videos with such Grace, humor, articulation and so much more. I truly appreciate you. You are God sent to us. Having said that :), could you please make a video on how to incorporate Paula’s choice Booster Vitamin C 15% w/ferulic/E to The ordinary products for oily/acne/PIH skin. I know you already made a video on layering for oily skin but given that MAP 10% is been out of stock from the ordinary, some of us are purchasing vitamin C from Paula’s choice. Is her booster Vit C 15% ok to use with The Ordinary niacinamide/azelaic? You can just response here. Thank you!

@@toniroseracelis7278 It takes time to work. They usually review it for only a month or a week😕. It can take 6 months to even a year to see results from salicylic acid. Another reason could be because the molecule of betaine salicylate (the one used in cosrx) is bigger than your average salicylic acid. Thus not being able to penetrate deeper. Idk. From what I've read, 4% betaine salicylate has the same efficacy as 2% salicylic acid.

does there need to be a break period while using retinol? Is it true it can thin your skin? thank you!❤️

I think it can thin the skin that's why they say to avoid facial waxing when using retinol. Or if you really have to wax at least prepare by not using retinol for 3/4days before you wax

Yeah it is fine. I've asked my dermatologist the same before regarding tretinoin which is much stronger. Btw I would recommend you to go with retinaldehide instead of retinol. Much much less irritation chances and it only needs to make 1 step in your skin whilst retinol is not only irritating but also requires 2 steps.
