Always liked that scene in the original. Vegeta was at the peak of his power, stronger than he probably ever thought he'd be with all the Zenkai Boosts, and then finds out that he still doesn't hold a candle to Freeza and he'll die helplessly without ever avenging his race's genocide. The Ginyus actually aren't Frieza's soldiers or in his army. If I recall correctly, the Ginyus are a team of assassins that have taken several jobs from Frieza before in the past. I'm sure Frieza paid them a lot too (being that he was the ruler of the universe at this point in the series) so they worked under him often but they aren't a part of Frieza's army.
