Who else loves the moment with Krillin and Trunks. "Oh, and Vegeta's gonna die." It seems like a joke, (and tbh it kinda is) but it displays his experience. He saw Piccolo Jr, Raditz, Nappa and Vegeta, The Ginyus, Freeza, the Androids, and now Cell at almost every form of their strength. He has a great deal of feeling out the power levels of those around them, *especially* when they are stronger than him, and when he encounters Perfect Cell, from a single backhand, he could tell that Cell far surpassed Vegeta's current power. Oh, and when he can also feel Trunks' power, and then calls him on his bullshit, it's pretty funny.

The power difference between Krillin and Frieza is bigger than SS2 Gohan and Perfect Cell yet Krillin can cut through Frieza, so again these are just the anime crapping on techniques to make characters look good. It's like if they made the solar flare not affect opponents stronger than you. It wouldn't make any sense.

What's interesting about Krillin's Destructo Disk is that Perfect Cell here is actually the first person to take the attack and come out completely unscathed. Even Frieza had his tail cut off by it - IN HIS SECOND FORM! It's such an obviously useful technique that Vegeta and Frieza both decided to use it themselves after seeing it. It seems to me that the Destructo Disk is actually the single most effective skill in the DBZ-verse.

So - I think had Trunks told Vegeta he’d surpass him during this ep, the loss of pride plus the sheer anger would have thrown Vegeta into SSJ2.

Vegeta would have demanded that Trunks prove it and would have probably died laughing when Trunks breaks out the Super Saiyan Third Grade (aka USSJ) because Vegeta is also capable of using that form, but unlike Trunks he knew the drawbacks so he never bothered to use it when getting wrecked by Cell (this is something that gets pointed out by Cell in the next episode). Also if Vegeta was to go SSJ2 in the Cell saga it should have been after Cell killed Trunks seeing as the death of Krillen caused Goku's first SSJ transformation and the death of Android 16 caused Gohan's SSJ2 transformation, but Vegeta suffers from an issue of "not the main character syndrome".

YangTheInsane ye, abridged Cell has just been amazing. Imperfect Cell was this great green goblin like villain. Perfect Cell just has such great lines, so much charisma and just generally so much more personality than the actual dbz Cell.
