I feel like Drake dropped the ball big time with this album. With a title like “For All The Dogs” and him saying “girl don’t temp me” I was expecting toxic Drake, Future energy etc…I was so hyped for this album. Future and Travis Scott were sorely missed on this album and I thought since he had Snoop Dogg on the album Snoop should’ve narrated the whole album because he’s the biggest dog of them all. That was such a missed opportunity.

@ADifferentShadeOfUtop1anahh, it's better when we get a good song from them once every couple of years, because it's a lot of hype and they usually delivered. On paper a Drake and 21 savage collab album sounds amazing, yet their collab album wasn't that amazing, I feel like it would be a waste

You guys say he’s matured, but I think it’s the complete opposite. Listen to some of the R&B cuts on Take Care when he was in his mid 20s & how emotionally complex, intelligent & aware he is. Compare that to FATD & what he’s singing about. Now he’s hanging out with streamers & flavor of the month artists half his age. He acts so much more immature and childish now.

I was thinking this exact same thing. Like his perspective on relationships was so much more relatable back in the early 2010s. Now he just holds money over girl's heads and takes it away if they don't act right. It was better when Drake wasn't afraid to admit he was in the wrong and actually pursued real relationships.
@jxpertt
@jxpertt Жыл бұрын
Ikr, when Drake came out everyone knew he was a backpack rapper meaning he wasn’t about that street life or drugs or degeneracy which is why people loved his music. FATD he was talking about lean, X pills, hypnotics, shooting people in daylight. This isn’t Drake it seems like he’s tryna blend in with New Age music nowadays

Just did a relisten to Take Care from beginning to end for the first time in a few years and wow.... what a fucking album. I dont say this often or lighly but (for me) that album has no skips. Half the songs took me vack to me teens/early 20s where that album dominated clubs. I dont recall many tracks shifting the entire mood and vibe of an entire club like Take Care. Marvins Room may have moved into meme territory but its still one of the most beautifully produced ambient tracks that cuts deep. But its the lesser praised tracks and features that set it off! Lord Knows with Rick Ross, Kendricks Interlude, Make Me Proud with Nicki... you cant pick a bad track from that album. I know its fairly praised as far as drakes catalogue but its criminally underrates as far as all of RnB goes. Amazing album.

I was at the Drake concert early, walking through the stadium with my head down in my phone when I felt my body bump into another person's. Startled, I looked up to find myself staring into the soft brown eyes of Drizzy himself. My heart raced as I stammered out an apology, cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "Embarrassinggggg," he said with a warm chuckle, his smile making my heart skip a beat. In that moment, time seemed to stand still as I tried to find my words, utterly captivated by the unexpected encounter with the superstar I had idolized for years. As the concert's soundcheck echoed around us, Drake's laughter filled the air, creating a bubble of intimacy amidst the stadium's chaos. He leaned in closer, his hand gently tilting my chin upward. "You know," he whispered, his voice sending shivers down my spine, "sometimes the best moments happen when we least expect them." Without another word, he closed the gap between us, his lips meeting mine in a tender, electrifying kiss. The world around us faded into oblivion as the music played on, and we shared a stolen, passionate moment in the midst of the concert crowd. It was a memory I would carry with me forever, the night I bumped into destiny at a Drake concert . It was 5 years later in Toronto and who would I run into besides Aubrey himself. Upon bumping into me again, he said "fancy seeing you again". I giggled remembering the moment we shared on that beautiful night. We embrace again. "I needed this" drake said. "wait how old are you" he asked. I responded with my age of 18 and he said "oopsies. 3 years past my preference" and skipped away. I started sobbing uncontrollably ripping my hair out on the street.

I been a Drake fan since the comeback season mixtape and this is the first time ever that I couldn’t even go through the whole album on the first listen. As an illusive drake fan I can half agree with you. First take I listened to it all the way with another friend back of the album was not listenable, but i did love the collaborations. I actually found teezo being probably my favorite feature on the album besides j Cole. But In the past few days I’ve gone back to the album and enjoyed a lot I think it really fits with the fall season coming up. But overall a 7.6-8.3 out of 10 compared nothing was the same or take care witch are both 9.8-10/10, and I think it will age well but certain songs will not be listened to.

Totally agree with you guys It feels sad saying this cause I was so hyped for this album, more than clb tbh... By the end of it I was kinda "tired" already, just a few songs I wanted to go back to, nothing really grabbed me, wich is pretty unusual for me on Drake's projects. I remember even when DLDT dropped, I was instantly hooked, wanting to play the songs again. As a real Drake fan I'm underwhelmed.

My expectations were by no means high going into this album, but I still managed to come away from it feeling disappointed. As respectable as his work ethic is, you can only keep things interesting for so long when you’re running on a quantity over quality model. This album severely lacks passion and any of the elements that made early Drake albums so strong. If anything, I see more of the old Drake on CLB than I do on FATD. I hope he truly takes some time off and lets his best recordings accumulate into a concise track list.

All the features on this album were his dawgs. Family, mainstream artists or people he has known for some time. All of the features on the album were able to either outshine him or felt more comfortable on the production of the beats than Drake. So who was this album really for? Us? The fans? The OG’s? The modern audrience? Maybe this album was meant to put a spotlight on all the dawgs he wanted to shine…

We all got fooled by the album title but it all makes sense tbh. The B word is a term used towards dogs and the B word is also commonly used towards woman. Hence “For the Dogs 🐶 “ or for the ladies. Which fits with the theme of the album since it leans heavy into R&B. And ironically enough he’s even throwing shade at RiRi on the album too 😂

I don't know what you guys were expecting from Drake. This was not that bad that you're suggesting, definitely better than CLB and Honestly, Nevermind. He's never going to back to his 2011-2016 were he was trying and dominating. I'd rate this album as good. It was an enjoyable album. I'm actually happy with the album because it kinda showed he tried a bit more than his last two solo albums (CLB and Honestly, Nevermind).

I think if u disregard it being from drake, and just taking in the music content it’s actually a very enjoyable album it’s just that drake is held to a different standard because of what we know he can do. Yes it’s disappointing and definitely not drakes best work, but there still is quality in this album. My best advice for everyone is to listen to the album again and just try not to think about drakes past work, you will get more enjoyment out of it. Also Bahamas Promises is one of his best R&B tracks ever I’m sad u guys didn’t bring it up once

Something told me that FATD was going to end up being MID. Especially since I personally couldn't get through Certified Lover Boy because I got bored with it halfway through the album. "There is nothing interesting about a lot of these songs - no story being told, no emotions being conveyed, no statements being made." That is a bold statement! Rating the album as mid makes me also wonder whether you have actually analysed and listened to the album well enough. Tried Our Best, Away From Home, 7969 Santa and Polar Opposites (which you claimed to be a weak outro) are examples of great songs in terms of performance, content and production. Critics are not listening with an open mind, due to their expectations of wanting Drake to make songs similar to his previous classics, that everyone has a specific emotional connection to. Curious to see review a year from now - you heard it here first.

I agree with alot of the points made..especially with his level of output..he's definitely putting out too much music in a short time span..however I actually like the album. At first I thought it was trash but after a few listens it better resonated with me. I think the main reason people don't like it is because people were expecting "the old Drake"? But my question is why would you want that?...I think we fall victims of nostalgia too much instead of embracing evolution...Drake has nothing more to prove....tbh 8am is a dope track but me personally I wouldn't he able to listen to 23 tracks of a 8am type of vibe/flow, I would get bored. And no I'm not young. I'm 33(an old head and long time Drake fan) but I don't wanna listen to 23 songs of Drake being deep and super lyrical on every track..needs to be a good mixture..only problem with FATD is that it wasn't a good mixture. It was too lopsided and I agree that 8am felt like it didn't fit on this album.
