just a suggestion, if they do ever do it again they’re unlikely to find this comment here bc i believe they generally look for ideas on their most recent video and it’ll probably be fairly distant from this video. you’ll have better luck if you comment this a few months from now when the idea has faded a bit, when they’re more likely to repeat again. 31:04 I see your Ulysses and raise you a Finnegans Wake. Can't finish that book, even if you finish it. I've read it three times from cover to cover and haven't finished it yet! *And never will, for it is endless and boundless*
@VictoriaEMeredithАй бұрын
I gave up on Finnegan’s Wake. I looked at all the words in Ulysses, twice. All of them made anti-sense and annihilated all meaning. I’m pretty sure it did permanent damage to my brain.
@leopoldbloom4296Ай бұрын
@@VictoriaEMeredith I'm sad to hear that. In no way do I want to be prescriptive, especially about something so strictly personal as experiencing some work of art can be, but it does make me sad that you didn't get any enjoyment from either of those books. Finnegans Wake I can understand, to a degree, but Ulysses has been such an evergreen, joyful adventure and a true treasure trove for me that I find it hard not to try to persuade others to not give up on it. I wish everyone would find in that book the enjoyment I found. Is there such thing as the opposite of gatekeeping? Because that's what I try to do with things I like, particularly such important ones (important to me, that is). Ulysses was a formative experience for me, and it was one of if not the main impetus behind my becoming interested in literature at all. Since then I try to persuade anyone who reads and who'll tolerate me for even half a second to give it a shot, doing my best to demistify it and undo some of the reputation it has (admittedly understandalby) gained over the past century. I'll continue to be an unabashed Ulysses/Joyce apologist because I truly believe it is within the reach of most people, especially if they have even the vaguest interest in literature as such, in language and its possibilities, and also in the idea that the mundane and quotidian _can_ be exalted, that it is layered and manifold; and that any person, any act, any moment indeed can and often does involve a myriad of worlds great and small inside of them. Just like there isn't a word that does not implicate the entire universe, just like there isn't a person who isn't at some point every person, just like the absurd coexists with no real contradiction with the most base and austere logic. Don't get me wrong, though: I understand however that no one is expected or indeed obliged to enjoy _everything_ and that sometimes a book or an author or any piece of media or any experience at all doesn't do it for you, and that's just as valid as enjoying this or that. It's just that I can't keep from sharing my enthusiasm with others in the hope that they'll get excited too and get the same (or more!) enjoyment I did. Anyway I'll shut up now

I was thinking the same thing, though there was a distinct lack of dad-kissing in Jacob's song

I love these up for interpretation prompts because I know no matter what, I will be caught off guard with whatever is going on in Julia's head

16:20 Do you think Jacob said "Check this out!" Before he did the thing?

I distinctly remember when they asked chat to do the cat thing, and Karina not using it is about as funny a choice as she could have made.

This was my mistake but I had a mouthful of water when Julia said her first BRRRUP and I snorted so the water went up the back of my nose. I have recovered enough to type that that noise is one of my favorite bits. Especially when paired with Julia's morphing fish form.

Between stuff like 'Ey lade, I'm walking here', 'eef neef' and 'HRRRR' this one had so many funny moments that made it dangerous to drink during. Much needed right now.

I have Willie's quirk of immediately thinking that every censored word is an f bomb, so Jacob promising to [bleep] me and my entire family was...interesting...
