I am an avid cyclist doing about 50 miles twice a week, additionally I do rowing machine and stationary bike on the days I am not cycling outside. My weight dropped unintentionally from 162 lbs to 150, I am still cycling with the same routine. Here’s the thing, during the days I go cycling without stopping for lunch I don’t feel hungry, instead I feel a continuous supply of energy from within. Once I was fat adapted, I didn’t see the need to continue but it was really my body that was telling me. I didn’t know it’s a tool or a hack like to you said. It’s so interesting to learn how MCT works!! Thank you Dr. Ekberg for another fantastic video!

After my first 3-weeks keto, my blood ketones were only 0.2 - 0.3 (I was prediabetic and insulin resistant). So I supplemented daily with both MCT and BHB for 2-weeks. After than, my morning (unsupplemented) ketone levels rose to 0.8 - 1.0. I've heard that getting the body to make ketones doesn't take too long (days), but getting your body to fully utilize them as fuel takes longer (weeks). Adding the supplements for a brief period getting started is like adding kindling to get a log burning, then once the fire is burning it will sustain itself.

This is super helpful. Very well explained and presented. Thank you! I've been on a high fat (80/20), low-carb (20 grams of carbs or less) carnivore diet for 5 weeks now, but as 52-year-old woman who is menopausal, insulin resistant, pre-diabetic, and 30 pounds overweight, I've had trouble getting into ketosis, and had trouble losing the fat (4 pounds in 5 weeks). I've done diets like these before when I was younger, and the weight just FELL off of me. Put one teaspoon of MCT oil on my steak this morning (which I ate with a good amount of butter). That was just an hour or so ago, and I can already feel the effects of elevated ketones. It's not showing up yet on my urine ketone test (my understanding is that it takes a couple of hours to show up there), but I feel confident that it will. I'll do another teaspoon of MCT oil this afternoon, and another one this evening. Finally I feel confident that I'm going to get this weight off, lower my blood glucose, and improve my insulin sensitivity, as well as reap all of the associated benefits. Hooray!

After losing most of the fat, extended fasts are only occasional and not nearly as long (two-to-three weeks then.)

Recently read “The Dental Diet” by Steven Lin... so interesting... our gut biome starts in our mouth. Our diet ruins our teeth, the toothpaste and mouth wash we use kills our biome. We are ruining our children’s teeth with modern diet...we need fat soluble vitamins A,E,D,K2 without these the minerals can’t be utilised properly.. Please can you do a video on this.. and how to reduce/reverse bone loss..

Weston Price talked about rubbing butter on teeth to remove tooth ache. I do that for my dogs. I have had a low level infection in one tooth a long time that acts up. I don't want to get a root canal because there are complications and I don't want to risk losing this tooth but I have found since I started fasting a few days a week I don't get these issues. Castor oil in the mouth was also helping before this.

Ketones are also healthy for their own sake, and I would imagine that both exogenous ketones and mct oil would have some benefit for people worried about the onset of dementia and other cognitive complaints.

This is a great tip. I have bought one bottle just to get me over the fat adopting bridge and longer fasts. Brill :)

Dear Doc, can you also make a video how to lose belly fat for people with diabetes type 1? Unfortunately I'm one of them and I do want to get rid of a lot of belly fat. I'm really interested in what to do and what not to do. A low bloodsugar for me can be dangerous and needs to be solved eating fast working carbs. I hope you are able to spend some time to inform not only me but also many fellow diabetics. Thank you in advance. Kindest regards from the Netherlands

Thinking about going carnivore. Do you recommend it Doc? 3 months of keto feel good. I've heard a lot about plant toxicity.
@drekberg3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Pacer. I don't think it is optimal year after year, but it can work wonders for people with various digestive issues like bloating, SIBO, leaky gut, etc. Try it for a month. If you feel great go for 3-6 months, but again, I don't believe it is optimal forever.😄

@@3335pooh butter and cream doesn’t break a fast?? That’s news to me.
@texasbear20602 жыл бұрын
@@3335pooh we are? I didn’t see the part about MCT oil and coffee exclusively. I saw the term bulletproof coffee which implies other things such as cream and butter. Who is we?
@e.k.1215 Жыл бұрын
@@texasbear2060 It shouldn't break your fast since it gets converted directly to keytones and no effect on blood sugar

Interested more in MCT for brain and dementia. Keto is not sustainable for most of us. I eat super health and no Keto. Most health guys i talked to stopped Keto.
