My husband,got upset every time he sees me drinking salt warm water.And he never allow me to put salt in his food. 2017 first time i came here in the US i never use in cooking,i observe my health is declining and got thyroid. After covid -19 i came back to my regular usual cooking routine in Philippines. And thats the time he saw me drinking warm water with salt. I still doing it now. Cause i feel so good and helps regulate my monthly period lessen the cramps and headaches. My parents they do it all the time,warm water with salt and sometimes warm lemos with salt instead of sugar.,we grew up on this method thats the reason i keep doing it especially when i feel sick and have sorethroat. SALT I REALLY VALUABLE IN OUR HEALTH. Thank you Dr,Berg for clarifying about salt do to our body. I also accidentally put salt in the coffee way back 1998! My sister and brother in-law laughed at me after my brother in-law sipped and tasted the salt in his coffee. I mistakenly put salt in our coffee! Just that a funny story of my life! As far as losing salt due to coffee consumption, I learned a great tip a while ago. If you add a 1-2 grinds of either sea salt or Pink Himalayan sea salt in your coffee, it takes away the bitterness and enhances the flavor. Plus, you retain some of the salt you may lose. This tip actually helped to wean me off of adding sweet creamers and sugar to my coffee, which I was addicted to. Now I take my coffee black with a twist of sea salt.

@@katherinebrady6296 it may take a while in the beginning to adjust the amount of grinds it takes. I find that the Pink Himalayan has a tinge of natural sweetness to it. For years I suffered from chronic Exertion Headaches especially after any kind of excercises. Headaches lasted 24-48 hrs. To the point where I had to give up any form of intensive sports...even golf. Cut a long story short...adding Himalayan salt to smoothies, vegetable broths etc was the cure! Gone are the headaches and now I enjoy exercising again. This is vital information that you will never find in medical journals etc.

Pure salt is Sodium Chloride. Himalayan salt is a mixture of Sodium, Potassium, Calcium etc Chlorides. So the effect of HS is not the same as pure salt. Really there is no need to go for such an expensive salt. Each individual can use pure salt based on his doctor's advice.
@flickaJay Жыл бұрын
@@saratkumar2484 Why trust the doctor who know less about me than I do? Himalayan salt retains the minerals that were with it in nature, that's 80% more minerals than table salt. For minerals to work properly they cannot be isolated. Table salts processing takes those minerals out and adds aluminum. It's down-right dangerous. The 2% minerals that it does retain after the rest are bleached out are so harsh that they kill the taste buds. If we took only the amount of table salt that a single person uses for just one meal and and injected it into our blood stream it would kill us. On the other hand, sea salt has been used during wartime as a replacement for blood in transfusions because it is the closest thing to human blood. Should we ask a doctor how much poison is okay to take?

I was looking for the department that would give me the highest nurse-patient-doctor satisfactory relationship. Unfortunately, it didn't happen very often 😔. Not long ago, I reported someone who was giving inaccurate medical information on the internet. I had to, no remorse. For you, all I know is that you're a nurse, I'd recommend taking it slowly and do your own research before becoming alarmed. I know we have little time to none to keep up with continued education. But one patient at a time and one circumstance at a time can be managed, I guess. Good luck 👍 God bless 🙏🕊...

You are spot on about salt. I am a person who sweats a lot, and I live in the sub-tropics. Back to my childhood, my father also took salt tablets because he had an outdoor occupation exposed to heat. Adding salt to food became second nature. Recently, my doctor prescribed blood pressure medication. I suffered severe muscle cramps, dizziness and my asthma worsened. I stopped taking them. Then she prescribed a lower dose of a different drug. Same symptoms, so I stopped. She still expresses “great concern” of my elevated BP, I take it with “a grain of salt”. Interestingly enough, the only deficiency she found was iron. Everything else was perfect. I have been taking iodised salt and potassium salt regularly to replace the BP drugs, as they were putting my health at serious risk, to the point of almost ending up in hospital being unable to breathe. I will continue to eat natural fats and salt in my diet. I get less problems overall by doing so.

I have had symptoms such as restless sleep, leg cramps - that I never get (I do take Magnesium though), fatigue, ankle swelling that alarmed me so much my friends made me go to the ER! Dr. said it's MY AGE and elevate them more often. Right. I'm a Flight Attendant but compression socks do help. Time to add Salt and see how things change! Thank you both!!! I used to drink just over a gallon of filtered (removes MOST electrolytes, drugs, and fluoride) tap water each day but did not salt my food that much. Over time I lost weight (muscle) and I felt tired and not wanting to exercise. About 2 months ago I started regularly adding Himalayan pink salt to my water and cutting my water intake down to 2-3 liters per day. I have been able to exercise more and have gain just over 10 lbs in muscle. My blood pressure is around 110/70 during fasting. I just listened to a lady nutritionist who had a health retreat in New Zealand. Her normal channel is here on youtube with Clash of Minds. The one I was listening to this morning is on Rumble because Google bans some things regarding the governments narrative on the "vaccinations". If you just type in the title you can find it and within the first 25 minutes she talks about Celtic sea salt being better at getting the magnesium and other minerals in your body because it's a water hungry source. She explained it better than I could. The title is "Barbara O'Neill - COMPASS - Part 32 - True Remedies: Water [1]". It's a lot of good information. She takes it every day and as well, her children grew up learning to do the same.

All depends on activity levels, ambient conditions and the climate where you live. Eat loads of different cheeses, milk and lashings of salted butter daily. Oily fish, seafood, muscle meat and seaweed are relatively high in natural salt. Will now try to assess how much I consume to see if regular supplementation required, or just after excess to usual strenuous activity. I have no clinical evidence of hyponataemia but may introduce a little more salt as a test for any 'feelings' of health benefits.

Hello Dr Berg. Thanks as always. Simple and delicious recipe. Parboil good quality waxy potatoes cut into chunks or slices until they are soft but still firm. Put them in a large bowl with appropriate amounts of olive oil, apple cider vinegar (according to how many servings you need) and just enough sea salt. Shake them around a little to allow the spuds to absorb the oil, salt and vinegar then bake (180 degrees is ideal) for about 25-35 minutes depending on the quality of your oven. Cook until golden brown* and serve sprinkled with fresh herbs of your choice and freshly ground black pepper (optional). You can add rosemary to the boiling water which gives a wonderful background flavour. It makes a great side dish or a tasty snack, as long as you don't eat too much ! It's vegan too. Best wishes from Slovenia. *playing Dave Brubeck/The Stranglers during the cooking process is optional obviously.

Thank u so much! I’ve been dealing with a fib for at least eight years it happens to me a few times per year. I just recently realized that I’ve been living on probably 500 mg of salt per day for at least the last 14 years. I find that when I have foods high in histamine like seafood and/or very high restaurant sodium foods, I end up with an a fib in the middle of the night. I believe it is because restricting salt has caused me to overproduce histamine and other stress hormones that’s making me sensitive to histamine food in certain situation. Also when having high restaurant sodium I feel like my body is trying to take in all the salt that it can which causes my body to lose potassium and put me in an electrolyte in balance. For the last three months I have been using Seasalt in my water bottles, 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon per bottle and I drink about five bottles per day. I also found a good electrolyte product based on sea salt without additives and I have added that twice per day. I’d love to hear other comments from people who had a fib and had success adding back salt. Incidentally I exercise at least an hour a day every day for the last 40 years. I guess I’ve been losing a lot more salt than I’ve been taking in, incidentally I developed osteoporosis and osteopenia in my early 50s. I now believe I’ve been leaching sodium and possibly magnesium from my bones. I’ve been taking over 1000 mg of potassium for the last five years, I learned about that quickly for afib, but took me awhile to believe in salt since we’ve been indoctrinated to demonize it, and so I did, and I end up with afib as a very very otherwise healthy person.

I have been on keto and intermittant fasting for maybe 1.5 years. Recently I had a lot of bloodwork done. My TSH was super high and my T3 was quite low. So I ordered my iodine to be tested and it was super high. I have been overdosing on iodine. I had been taking potassium iodide. Immediately stopped that but I also had to do a low iodine diet for 3 months. I got Hoshimotos from all this. When I did my research, I found many of the things I was eating(only organic) were also high in iodine. Egg yolks are very high in iodine. So I had to stick to whites and fry them in avodado oil with annatto and tumeric. Tahini and sesame seeds are high in iodine. Fish and cod liver oil is high in iodine. Only protein I can eat is fish, eggs and poultry. That narrows my diet down a bit for 3 months. Increased my avocados. No salted nut butters. No dairy except organic grass fed kefir. Found out that Himalyan salt has a small amount of iodine so had to switch to real salt - which said no iodide. Luckily Organic Valley has no iodine in their salted butter. I don't know how anyone could be iodine dieficient on this diet. Then had to cut cruciferous vegetables way down as they block iodine from going into the thyroid. It has been quite a juggling act to try to figure out.
