4:28 Learn more about the gallbladder!
Coffee is one thing that you don’t need to avoid if you’re trying to support your health. Let’s talk about the benefits of coffee, especially for fatty liver or gallstones.
Potential health benefits of coffee:
• It may help decrease the risk of metabolic syndrome
• It provides nueroprotection
• It provides cardiovascular protection
• It may be anticarcinogenic
• It’s an appetite suppressant
• It has anti-inflammatory effects
• It’s rich in magnesium, vitamin B2, and vitamin B3
To take advantage of the health benefits of coffee, you have to consume a small to moderate amount-not large amounts. I suggest only having one small cup of coffee in the morning.
Potential benefits of coffee for the liver and gallbladder:
1. Coffee may help produce and thin bile, decreasing the risk of gallstones.
2. Coffee contains phytonutrients that can help protect the liver.
3. Coffee can help increase fatty acid oxidation, meaning it can help break down fat from the liver.
4. Coffee stimulates a hormone that helps contract the gallbladder, which will help you extract fat-soluble nutrients from your food.

Just a heads up there are a few studies saying that coffee in the morning is not the correct time to drink it. Adenosine levels gradually raise as you wake and thats what caffeine binds to. So by using coffee in the morning as you wake up is less effective than maybe a hour or two after you are up. To get more benefit from the caffeine at least drink it after you are up a bit.

It's probably in the way that you consume it. For example I enjoy coffee after already being awake for a few hours and get the body moving. It makes me tired and anxious if I drink it when I wake up. Also, he doesn't mention that you should be drinking water preferably lemon water, 30 minutes before coffee, and don't drink it on an empty stomach. Literally just dehydrates you and then you get tired. If anything, you should be drinking tea in the morning, and then coffee around noon time for example. People take coffee for granted and think the substance itself will do wonders. Not how it works.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I love how informative they are. You explain things so well and break it down where it’s easy to understand! I recently purchased your Liver Cleanse and signed up for subscription. I was diagnosed with fatty liver in May due to my sedentary lifestyle, ( started walking to help that). Not a drinker, maybe 1 x a year on special occasions. Changed my diet over a year ago, dark greens for salad w/grilled chicken breast 1 meal a day ( intermittent fasting ) and for the first time in my life my cholesterol and triglycerides were not high in May @ yearly check up. Was so surprised when I was told I had fatty liver when the bad stuff was finally in check. This is why I contribute my diagnosis to me being pretty sedentary. Hopefully with staying on my OMD and combining it with activity and your liver cleanse, my liver will improve. Thank you again Dr Berg for caring enough to share your knowledge.

Coffee is beneficial for your health if it’s not decaffeinated, if it’s good quality and if it’s filtered. And of course you should take care of not drinking too much of it. Talk about this with any good dietician and they will tell you the same. If you crave for coffee but have acidity problems, you shouldn’t add milk or sugar (ok for plant milk) and you can add a bit of ghee butter - it reduces acidity.

@@jakobepopo my husband recently saw at Costco! Know a local Seattle chain also sells . We used to buy in Houston in Arabic stores. Saudis make a "white coffee" using beans that are roasted, cardamom and a tiny tiny cup of milk added to entire pot. It's much like regular Arabic/Turkish coffee in that it has the grounds in bottom of cup. First time son had the Arabic coffee he said looked like motor oil sludge in bottom of his cup when done but liked the taste so much he started making it himself. 😉 The Saudi white coffee is not lighter and very heavy with amount of ground cardamom added (shells and all rough chopped). Can add tiny bit of Saffron and the taste is even smoother.

I’ve been addicted to black coffee since I was in my early twenties when I first tried coffee at work. I was not a fan of dairy or sweet coffee so I’ve been drinking it that way for forty years. I do drink two cups in the morning. When I see so many people drinking fun looking sweet coffee drinks they look so good, but I’m so thankful I have no desire for those coffees. I love your videos, Dr. Berg! Thank you!

I have 2 cups of coffee in the morning and that’s the only time I drink it. I recently started buying high quality coffee and I grind the beans just before brewing it. I use only filtered water and I clean my coffee maker religiously. I drink my coffee black ( with a packet of equal occasionally. I know equal is probably not great for me ) but there is nothing like high quality coffee fresh ground brewed in a clean machine

Hi Dr.Berg I watch lots of your videos, I learn something from them all. I have Endocrine Insufficiency and Exocrine Insufficiency & Chronic Pancreatitis, about three years ago i was woken up in agony so much i was rolling round the bed and then the floor trying anything too try and get rid of the pain, I don't know why I was doing this I knew nothing would help. It was obviously a flare up of my Pancreatitis so my wife got me the breakthrough pain, strong pain relief, and got me in the car straight to Hospital as usual when this happens. I don't know if you know what this pain is like it's off the 1-10 scale by miles.Anyways I got seen by a Doctor immediately I got more pain relief & taken for a scan an ultrasound was all that was available straight away. So a Doctor was scanning me, all of a sudden oh my word she said which really frightened me after all we knew what it was, what it always is the Pancreatitis. You've got a Gallbladder full too bursting with stones & it's also completely infected. Three weeks later i left hospital with No Gallbladder. Do you think i should be on Bile Salts what with Pancreatitis and the Insufficiencys.? Thank You Dr.Berg.
