The idea that a female audience would rather watch 2 hours of a beefy Natalie Portman than 2 hours of Chris Hemsworth being heroic is crazy.

It’s so inspiring to see a strong woman not work her way to greatness and take something a man has worked for decades to build up. Imagine how many young persons that self identify as girls who will say to themselves “Wow, one day I could not be able to be strong like that. If I don’t work super hard, maybe someone could give me all that.”

Absolutely. I'm a girl, and Chris H's Thor is my favorite MCU character. I have no plans to see Natalie as the Mighty Thor, even though I like her in general. I think that's one of the main problems with Hollywood right now, not knowing what movies appeal to which audience. Like when they make all female action movies and then make comments showing they think men won't like it.

At 5:12, Paul's answer to "Why is everything so shit now?" is absolutely perfect. "It's always been shit." I gave up watching TV about 20 years ago. I haven't had any type of TV service since then. Every once in a while when I hear about a good TV show I just "get it" online. No monthly fees for streaming services, no monthly satellite or cable bill, no commercials. Best of all I save a lot of time NOT flipping through channels.

The problem with their stereotypes is that defines their character. If a character is gay, everything in their lives revolves around them being gay. They aren’t complex interesting characters who happen to be gay. They are gay characters. A character of color is that. A person of color. Their skin color defines everything about them. A Muslim character is simply that. A Muslim. Everything has to pass through the prism of their religion. That’s what is insulting. Female characters now can’t struggle. They can’t grow. They are perfect with every skill they ever need already available to them. This new phase of Hollywood entertainment is insulting.

Plus of course the usual recommendations: Batman The Animated Series, Swat Kats, TMNT 2016, Exosquad, Babylon 5, Star Trek (TOS up to Enterprise), Star Wars (yes even the prequels and the EU). Nuanced characters give way to philosophical questions about morality. Without things being black and white it’s hard to demonize people that disagree with your “moral” cause. The same people who denigrate anyone they believe to be right winged, or in opposition even as a liberal, would be the same people who would fall under Hitler’s sway during the rise of the Nazis. Unfortunately this ideology is so far up its own ass under the cloak of being “compassionate” the followers don’t realize they’re puritanical fascists.

Great chat guys! FYI - look up ESG in the banking system. I think it at least partly explains why all of these big corporations adopt woke values. ESG is an unregulated scoring system that tells banks how green or woke your company is which effects whether you can get loans. It also lets investors know whether you are a guilt-free investment. It basically is a mechanism for politics and social activism to hijack large corporations ability to secure and make money. Keep fighting the good fight!

There was no home economics, no one ever taught us how to sort out our bills and budget and fix things around the house. I've had to teach myself that stuff and I suspect if I ever have kids I'll need to teach them as well. Though if things carry on the way they are I'll be homeschooling my kids and making sure they're socialised through other means.

1:03:40 I for one am not fatigued on Superhero movies. I am however fatigued on MCU movies. We need to remember that things like Logan, Infinity War, The Batman, The Suicide Squad are still superhero movies and damn good ones at that. And a lot of what makes them good is how unique, fresh and self contained they are. So if the industry were giving me movies like that, I'd never get bored of them. But the problem with MCU movies is that, at their worst, they are formulaic. Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Ant Man and the Wasp, Black Widow and more feel so familiar. So lacking in uniqueness and so utterly inconsequential. A less than good MCU movie feels like a waste of time and there are too many of those. Hence why people get fatigued on them.

The middle management did a real push for high profit courses to pump there numbers for bonuses. (also you need to kick out the bad students) So subjects that dont take room, need equipment or qualified staff where expanded & even better if you can hot desk them. 18:30 Drinker sounds almost exactly like Nicolas Cage in "Con Air." "Put the bunny back in the box." 19:08 Mauler sounds like Gomer Pyle. "Sooprise, sooprise, sooprise!" Mr. H sounds like Bendiflict Lumbersnack and looks like Jack Reacher. 50:28 Mr H talking about being Muslim etc. aren't character traits...I read yesterday (IIRC) where there's a new composer attached to the Obi Wan Kenobi show. She did some music for "Loki," Disney said, and then they mentioned she's the first woman to score a live-action Star Wars show. Never mind she's also done other compositions since 2005. True, most of the shows on her IMDB profile don't have the same draw as Star Wars, but she's also won several awards, and is by many standards accomplished in her field. Nope, the big thing Disney pointed out was "She did some music for Loki and she's got ladyparts!" -_- We don't say of John Williams, "He's done some music for Star Wars and he's got manparts!" Why trivialize a person down to their anatomy, religion, skin color, etc.? How is that not demeaning? I have a disability, but it is not the be all, end all of who and what I am. "He's done stuff and he's got gimpy bits!" are fightin' words, not a compliment. 1:07:46 YoungRippa talked about DC making the mistake of trying to follow the MCU. Drinker said something about DC's standalones doing better than their attempts to build a DCU similar to Marvel, and it brings to mind a book I read by Simon Sinek, talking about how some people succeed because they've got a longterm mindset. Rather than "We have to beat Marvel," DC would do well to say, "We want to make good movies, whether they are standalones or work together in an MCU style." Rather than copying Marvel, DC should try more episodic adventures. I do have superhero fatigue so I won't be watching them (at least for a while), but I think standalones would work better for them. RE: Disney shooting their feet off in Florida, y'all hit the nail on the head. The bill confronts the lack of parental consent some teachers have encouraged in the indoctrination/education system. I've heard some leftists here in the U.S. admit they don't want parents teaching children values, if those values conflict with the leftist ideology, and it seems to be an idea growing in popularity with the left side of the aisle. Five years ago people played it off as a joke. Now, it's actually become a controversial topic. Drinker, I would second the recommendation on "The Chosen." It's made by Christians and does tell stories inspired by the Bible, but it actually portrays the characters as real people instead of overly innocent or evil caricatures. At the same time, it's refreshingly not preachy. I'd say watch two or three episodes of Season 1 and see what you think. I dislike 99.999...% of Christian entertainment and I think "The Chosen" is pretty good. Their advertising skits are crap but the show is leagues better.

"Five years ago people played it off as a joke. Now, it's actually become a controversial topic." A lot of these topics happen to go this way. People warn about it, get called out as crazy and then what has been warned about actually happens regardless. i feel really bad here for Paul, he seems very interesting and knowledgeable but the generation gap here is very obvious. when he mentions great classic films like "My Dinner With Andre" or "In The Heat Of The Night" there is no reaction from the rest of the group at all. im probably 10 or 15 years older than Drinker, but i grew up in the 80s and was full on into pop culture and i get all the stuff they are into, but i also dont only like the big action film blockbuster franchise and superhero kind of things. i love just a genuinely good drama and miss them.

He'd work great with Chris Gore, Nerdrotic, YMS, the Midnight's Edge guys, etc. in terms of film talk. There's both a generation gap and too many guests who don't already know each other, and a panel of 3 Brits and a Texan is less likely to resonate with Deli jokes. Though, to be fair to at least Drinker and Mauler (I don't really know Mr H and Eric always said he wasn't that into film in general), I think they both do love a good drama, but the combination of topics and panel wasn't optimal for that kind of chat with Paul.

Yeah, Ive spent the last several years frequenting many heavily political channels with the high octane live streams and Im just burnt out from it, which is why I find myself on Drinkers channel more often these days. Much more laid back and actually fun whilst still being informative and enlightening.

I'll give Tuesday Night's Main Event something - they get through introductions very quickly. FNT feels less structured than it used to be. There have been a few streams I watched where they never addressed one of the topics in the title. If they knocked 2 hours off, AZ wouldn't have to bail before show's end cause he's falling asleep at the mike.

Litte Miss Sunshine is an adorable movie for me. for anyone that appreciate's that movie I would highly recommend THE WAY WAY BACK ... A film by the same people with a few of the same principle cast members (Steve Carrell and Toni Collete) and a very worthy addition of Sam Rockwell. Both movies are Ace in my opinion.

They mainly use something called Stagecraft to enable in shot composite techniques to shoot Mandolorian and Kenobi .. It's actually quite ground breaking on a technical level, more so than anything used in the recent trilogy of movies. One thing I will give George Lucas credit for is that in the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy they consistently pushed technical boundaries, something that was lacking in episodes 6 to 9. the new Star Wars series may be pretty dull but the Stagecraft tech is awesome. It's more interesting than the scripts at least.
