Im gonna pick up my A110 GT in march, too. It's my first ever sports car, daily is a Model Y Long Range, though I have a very long history in Renault cars. Last Renault was a Talisman estate with the same engine and gearbox but less power. So: any suggestions for a complete newbie?

I had an idea of how the Alpine would drive when it was revealed, as had previously driven regular Clios, then a Clio RS. With less weight, more power and double wishbones, I could imagine how nimble it would be. An Alpine is the only car I would dream of spending so much on, I didn't think rarity was a significant reason and was just a bonus, but it surely helps to justify it. Not for an air of exclusivity, it's that it's 'once in a generation' level of good, unique in design, with only a few around and won't be available for long. It has such a high probability of being a future classic, but that usually takes a generation in itself.

Max. Absolutely brilliant 'little' sports car! What a machine! And it's all in the weight....or not as the case may be. Fantastic car in the purist driving sense. Better than a Porsche Caymen? Yes! It may be French and an off-shoot of Renault and have the odd rattle but for UK B roads nothing better. As someone barely 5ft 4in might struggle with the bolt way of adjusting the seats but i would use a cushion! Yes other than the far more expensive Audi TT RS, [now gone] the Alpine is simply the best. Thank you, Max.

@@DrivenPlus French cars for some reason got a bad reputation here in the States. Not sure why. If you watch Glee, Sue Sylvester has a Renault 5, I think there was also one in Ferris Beuller's Day Off... 90% of the current and previous generation 911 owners ordered their car with a PDK, the same with the Boxter/Cayman cars of the current generation.
