In this video I'm going to share 10 tiny habits to lose 10 pounds. Anyone who has ever lost weight knows that it's not always easy. In fact it's rarely easy. But you can do hard things.
I've had two kids in my life and in my experience, the last 10 pounds were the hardest. Currently I'm working on some body recomposition goals including losing some body fat.
So I've had to revisit some of the lessons I learned after both of my pregnancies.
These are great reminders for anyone trying to lose weight whether it's your first 10 pounds or those last 10 stubborn pounds you’ve been trying to lose for months.
These tiny habits are in no particular order of importance. I would encourage you to listen to all of them and then pick only one to start incorporating into your lifestyle at a time.
Once you’ve made that one a habit, revisit this video and pick another. And not all of these may be appropriate for you.
So focus on the ones that are and go from there. Be sure to watch till the end because I have a bonus tip for you.

[1:20] Stop finishing your kids’ (or partner’s, or grandkids’) food.
[2:16] Track your food. Go to www.zivli.com/macros for free set-up videos.
[3:24] Measure out portion sizes. It’s easy to undereat protein and fiber, and overeat fats, starches, and sugars.
[4:20] Go for a short walk after dinner for blood sugar regulation.
[5:48] Drink decaf tea in the evening to reduce/prevent emotional eating.
[6:26] Significantly reduce or eliminate alcohol.
[8:45] Only eat sitting down.
[9:22] Fill your plate with healthy, nutrient-dense foods and stop at one plate. Try to avoid 2nds.
[10:00] Keep simple, healthy meals and foods on hand.
[10:39] Drink a lot of water. When you’re dehydrated, your body won’t want to burn body fat.
[11:39] Bonus tip - Drink raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar before a high carb meal.

A couple of tips that work for me : Don’t have junk food in the house. If you bring home chips or cookies or snacks you will eat them. Most of us won’t walk a mile or two to the store to buy a snack. Drink a large glass of water when you feel hungry and wait. Often you are more thirsty than hungry. Stay busy . Turn off the tv. Read a book or do a puzzle to relax. Get yourself a small plate and bowl that you really like. This goes along with portion control and measuring. If you put a small portion on a large dinner plate your mind feels deprived.

I like your tips. The first one though, is not possible when you live with a family. In my case my family are all skinny. They are healthy but they eat snacks. I don’t eat their snacks because I’m also gluten free, but just seeing their snack makes me feel hungry. So I had to learn how to just not let them bother me. I no longer serve them their snacks which is very helpful. But it’s still tough. Thanks for your tips👍

The tip for me is to not eat too much good nutritious food. Every day I eat a multi-ingredient nutrient dense salad, a big salad bowl full. Sometimes lately I look at the last third and realise I've had enough, but don't put the rest in a container for later because the dressing is already on it. From now on I'm going to put the extra in a container to have with dinner.

I've been doing the vinegar hack for a couple of weeks and I can definitely control my cravings better. Any vinegar will work. I prefer white wine vinegar.

great tips! herbal teas without caffeine can be a good option, if you are not sure if the decaffeinated tea was decaffeinated in a healthy fashion!

Tracking and measuring are not tiny habits. These can be such a burden for the average person that it makes someone give up completely. I've bought the food scale and measured many times when trying to lose weight. It is really difficult and unrealistic to put all the ingredients into a recipe on myfitnesspal, and then measure out your food before the meal, while you have a baby tugging on your pants and toddler whining, "I'm Hungryyyyyyy!!" I realize it's.importany to understand nutrition labels and portion sizes, but I just disagree that these are "tiny" habits. These are time.consuming habits if you want to be reasonably accurate and do it right.

You're right, it's not practical for most of us to measure everything all the time. Every so often though, it's a good idea to measure the things we assume are okay to see if we're doing it right, and adjust accordingly.
