Spoiler: DDR is so relatable and passes on information so eloquently and easily that I can not even imagine going to the trouble of finding a "live" Tai Chi teacher. Why? When I can beam DDR and his expertise and kind gentle teaching style directly into my home?

Oh my goodness - Rose what a sweet and wonderful thing to say! I just got an email from a gentleman who lives in Spain and has no teachers anywhere near - but found this channel and has now fallen in love with Tai Chi. It's stories like his - and yours! - that inspires me to share as much as I can.

a good live teacher is good for a good reason..he or she can see you,see what your doing-right or wrong.. and advise your personal needs and offer personalized suggestions....cheers.

Hey there. I have fibromyalgia and am a college student. I love doing these in between class, to get going in the morning and before bed. I was a nurse working 2 jobs for 15 years and really abused my body. Chronic pain and fatigue have made it really hard to move. Thank you so much for these. I'm starting to fall in love with my body and the positive energy within.

If only KZbin were as easy to use as it is to follow David-Dorian Ross' instruction. Having to stay at home to assist with someone else, David is a blessing. Being new to Tai Chi David's layered instructions are spot on, starting with the essential minimum you need to know, then providing more information on each repetition. Its a great way to learn if you don't have time to find a live teacher. I believe he does one on one sessions with video feed back, so maybe he can do it live too. The 100 days of Tai Chi is particularly fun for a newbee.

I was trying to find my previous message to you where I said this routine was helping my spinal stenosis. That was at least 18 months ago I think. Still doing this at least every other day and I am pain free for the most part. So grateful to you for sharing, David-Dorian. :)

I suffer with fibromyalgia and have had back pain almost my entire life so I have tried a LOT of different exercises!! I had a live tai chi lesson and although I liked Tai Chi and took to it straight away I wasn't comfortable in the class being the only girl!! I have been following your 100 days videos, which I absolutely love, but when I am having a bad day I find it very difficult. This video was amazing!!! It really loosened up my back and made me feel more invigorated (this is the first time I have done it). I absolutely love your teaching style, you clearly explain the steps and you are so kind and inspiring. Thank you David

I am new to Tai Chi but loving your videos. I have started with the sitting and the back pain as I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis. I find just concentrating on upper body makes it easier to find the feeling of movement. I will move on to your full lessons in a week or two. Soooo relaxing and calming.thank you. Cornwall UK

Thanks David. I've had back pain for only a week which has disrupted my daily Qigong practice. Your class came up and I thought, "That's a great alternative." I found that seated tai chi (and later on today, I'll try s modified Qigong set) enables me to work WITH my body, not trying to 'make' my body do what I want. It seems to be the lesson for these times of great change. Work with nature, nature knows what it's doing, you don't have to impose yourself upon nature to make something happen. Thank you.

I have had chronic back and neck pain for decades. After only 3 sessions with this video I am experiencing significant relief. I cannot do standing Tai Chi and am heartened to know about seated Tai Chi as an option. I tried learning chair tai chi from a book but the directions were not clear enough. DDR has solved that problem with his clear guidance (and closed captions -- thank you). This is really working for me and I am deeply, deeply grateful.

After some years off, I'm returning to Tai Chi. I just tried out "Over 60 - Healthy Joints" and got about 2/3 thru, ran into problems due to limited range of motion from broken ankles and titanium. Since I have sciatica, I found this video on back pain and it was wonderful. Sitting right now is easier, but I can feel that it helped move some of the lower back muscles. So happy to get a gentle workout. Thank you.

Thank you so much David-Dorian. Can we talk about how to release the muscles and fascia of the neck without triggering them to tighten and go into protection mode...low back, hips-waist-pelvis as well. The more I play with flexibility and core strength the more these areas start talking to me. I appreciate the gift of time and love you share with us each week. A test drive with David-Dorian has opened the door to many beautiful opportunities to love and grow- you are surrounded in safety patience, compassion and encouragement. Together we are crossing over each threshold. Many possibilities are waiting for me to cross over.

I really enjoy your teaching. Thankyou. Wondering about seated Tai Chi for Enlers Danlos Syndromes, hyper mobility not only for myself but I could recommend it to others . There are many types of this genectic disease all effecting the connective tissue ( collagen) in all areas of ones body. Including subluxation of bones , stretching if the major blood vessels surrounding the heart , allowing the brain to slip about in the head. Yet it's important to maintain core strength, Chi, flexibility or in my case not so much flexibility, haha as you have mentioned. I was fortunate to have practiced the " backdoor true yang style years ago ( short form) and truly want to continue with even with EDS and needing a complete knee replacement due to jury , osteoarthritis at the age of 71. Kinda feel use it or lose it , if you know what I mean. Tai Chi has help me so much , and know it will help others also . Again Thankyou for what you do.

Can you tell us how this works to heal the back? In another video you mentioned tai chi for anti-inflammatory benefits along with working systemically. Will this seated also help at all with arthritis in back, or hips, or knees? Perhaps too much for a post question, if so I apologize I liked your flow at the beach front and back video, but not sure how to back off my knees. This seated may be a good alternative for other days.

I just purchased your 24 Forms DVD and I am a bit lost. There's a warm-up session. Then what seems to be a full-on set? Then, a Workout which I think I have done with you on a different DVD before and I wish I understood how that workout relates to the previous set. Or does it? Or is that workout which I have done with you before taken from inside the 24 forms? By the time I had looked at this for a while, I felt too mystified to continue and so I looked around the interwebs and ended up here. What's the scoop? I have only recently discovered your videos and started doing them and they seem to be helping with my nerve pain in my back and my overall sense of wellbeing quite swiftly.

Good evening and thank you for posting a seated Tai Chi ... yes 10 min is an awsome length of time... I am currently recovering from COVID Pneumonia and my heart rate has been elevated since.. they suggested light or slow moving exercises... I know Tao Chi or Yoga would work but I couldn't find seated Yoga or Tai Chi until I stumbled on to your channel... it popped up kind of quick on the search... I saw other videos you posted and thought they looked great so I looked at the videos listed and you have this one...(going to look at other videos as well)....this was great!! It was easy enough and did not push my rate up much ( which is what I wanted) because my goal is to lower the rate... between diet ,soft exercise and hydration I'm hoping to avoid medications for this heart rate issue..... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Could Tai Chi actually heal back pain? I say yes! Obviously my statement does not carry the weight of the Stanford University Medical School but that does not lessen the truth. Many thanks DDR for another great lesson! So excited about the prospect of you putting something together for my company. Be well!

Hey Dan! I debated about using the word "heal" - but on the other hand, I know Tai Chi has powerful healing properties, and it gives people the opportunity to find out how deeply it works for them.

Hey David-Dorian! I think "heal" was a perfect choice. "Cure" carries certain connotations and might cause some folks to argue. What a perfect way to say that it will work as much as people allow.

David, this was nice and comfortable to do. Do you have a Tai Chi exercise for lower back bone spurs, to help minimize them.

The mirroring exercises doesn't hurt but the oppositional arm movements hurt bad. I have issues from the top of the neck to tail bone. Should I push through or just do what doesn't hurt?

Yikes! It always sends shivers down my spine when I hear someone say that a tai chi move has caused pain. Tai chi has a basic approach of “don’t force it.“ One thing that you might try is to make the range of motion in your shoulders of each moving arm, smaller. Tai chi has a kind of built in optical illusion. Lots of times the movements appear to be bigger than they actually need to be. In other words, move your Arms and shoulders less and let your turning torso take you from place to place. Certainly let pain and discomfort be your guide in choosing which movements to do or not to do. Hope this all helps!

I have not been good with exercising. I'm 67 and have arthritis in my knees, back and ankle. I started doing your seated tai chi for back pain a few weeks ago. I am feeling less pain already. I have a question for you. When doing some of the stretches I feel a few pops in my back, neck or shoulders. Is this normal? Is it something I should worry about? I would hate to have to stop now.

DDR thank you so much for this lesson. Do you think that this type of seated routine is good for people that are chained to a desk all day (like me), IN ADDITION to regular tai chi practice? I have to sit at a desk connected to a phone. I do my regular tai chi practice at night at home. What do you think? Thank you.

I think you would want to add some vertical movement into your life if you are seated all day. This would be great to do as a break at work though!
