I do have a question. Why are some protestants actually offended if they are referred to as "protestant"? I have encountered this most often among those of Baptists in faith.

Great video. I would add: -Catholics live by a liturgical calendar with periods/seasons of feasting and fasting -Catholics believe in 2 categories of sin: mortal and venial whereas Protestants don’t make a distinction between sins. -Attending Mass is obligatory for Catholics and Sundays and HDOs. Protestants believe attending church service is optional but encouraged. -Catholics believe in cooperating with God’s grace and mercy. Protestants tend to see it as more passive. -Catholics believe that we have a responsibility to pray for the souls who have died.

I converted to Catholicism from Pentecostalism in 2013 and it was the best decision I ever made. One of the big things that led to my conversion was reading the early church fathers, people like Saint Ignatius of Antioch, Clement of Rome and Polycarp. They were only one generation after the Apostles and they were 100% Catholic! After re-reading the New Testament in light of their worldview, Conversion was a logical necessity.

I LOVE St. Ignatius. A lot of folks, (including Catholics!) out there are not aware that He is the one who called the Church 'Catholic' for the first time around the year 110 AD just before his Martyrdom. And that was in Antioch, the very same place where the followers of Christ were called 'Christians' for the first time as well. Coincidence? I don't think so! And that was 180 years before Emperor Constantine was even born! So it is laughable whenever I hear a protestant say that Constantine "founded" the Catholic Church. Either that's false or he got into a time machine, went back 200+ years and came back! I take the first!

@@archangelliii2536 Yes! And he also writes about the Holy Eucharist in a way that shows he believed it is the true Body and Blood of Christ. This is important because he was a disciple of Saint John who wrote the Eucharistic discourse in John 6. How on earth did you miss this vital information? How is there any right way to present anything outside of the Bible? Please check it out! Let it be known to all: Through the Holy Spirit, God has put it on me to preach to those lost in the devil's deceit! Hear me when I say, ye that are Catholic have been deceived and know not God. Ye worship Mary, praying to her; when God tells his to worship none other than him. It is idolatry. Catholicism has its own Bible and teachings, which are blasphemous to the word of God: the Holy Bible. As ye follow the teachings of man and not God; ye hear the pope, but not Jesus, yet ye claim to be his disciples! These are but a few things I named ye dwell within; there are many more. I tell you now to repent of your sins, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and you'll receive the gift of the Holy Spirit upon asking the Father! There are *NO* sub-divisions of Christianity. You're either a disciple of Christ or not. A Christian is someone who follows God's word, not a religion. Who obey the Father and follow his will; not man's nor their own heart's. Unless you keep Jesus' commandments, think not the Holy Spirit will dwell within you! They who heed this message and did what was stated with an open heart to God... Read the Holy Bible (KJV) daily and every time before you read, pray to the Father and ask: "Lord I ask that you give me understanding of your word, that I interpret it the way you want me to, and none of my own. I ask you in Jesus' name, amen." Revelation 22:8-9 KJV 8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. 9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. Acts 2:38 KJV 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Luke 11:13 KJV 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? John 14:21-24 KJV 21 *He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.* 22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, *If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.* 24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and *the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.* 3 John 1:11 KJV 11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. *He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.* 1 John 3:6-10 KJV 6 *Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.* 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: *he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.* 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 *Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.* 10 *In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,* neither he that loveth not his brother.

By their fruit, you shall know them! The Apostolic Church had dispersed authority. James governed the Church, Peter provided leadership, while Paul wrote most of its dogma (James administered, Peter led, Paul taught). In today's apostate RCC, every authority is subsumed in an infallible Pope, with disastrous consequences. Let me start with consequences for society. Both the Orthodox and the Romanists believe in the Supremacy of Tradition. Consequently, they both rejected the Reformation, by which the true Church returned to the Supremacy of Scripture which Jesus and the Apostles believed. The direct result of their heresy was that all the monsters of power in Europe (Adolf Hitler, Frances Franco, Benito Mussolini, Tito, Lenin, Stalin, the Napoleons, King Leopold, all the Communist dictators, and even today's Vladimir Putin) have been produced EXCLUSIVELY by those two denominations. The nations and sub-nationalities that accepted the Reformation were totally spared of these monsters. No nation of the Reformation became a victim of any of those radically evil -isms (Communism, Leninism, Fascism, Authoritarianism, Totalitarianism). Nazism was the brain child of a would-be RC priest. No nation of the Reformation has had a Head of State or Head of Government judicially executed or toppled by force of arms or via an insurrection since 1800. What is the essential difference between Haiti (a basket case) and Jamaica (a thriving country). One is Romanist, the other mainly Anglican. What is the essential difference between South America (with so many "issues") and North America (with long-sustained stability and democracy). One is Romanist, the other largely anti-Romanist. Why was colonialism in Nigeria or Ghana so benign while in Congo or Namibia it was rapacious. The colonizers in Congo, etc. were Romanists, and the ones in Nigeria, etc. were Reformed (in fact, it was mainly because of relentless pressure from Britain that the Belgians were forced to reform their reign of terror in Congo). Why was there a movement for the abolition of slavery in the UK, but not in Italy. The populace of one nation has (or rather, used to have) a Bible-based conscience; the other has ritualist Christians. Same reason you have an intractable mafia problem in most RC- majority countries (including Italy) but not in the nations of the Reformation. The ill effects of Romanism are so profound that TODAY while all the nations of the Reformation retain the Cross of Christ on their flags, not a single RC-majority nation does so. Have you heard the common joke in Italy that only Italians could have taken Christianity and turned it into the Roman Catholic Church? Even the Italians have enough self-awareness to understand the distance between Apostolic Christianity and Romanism. The license to (mis)interpret Scripture and the wild liturgical innovations of Rome were by-products of the Italian character (i.e., highly romantic, imaginative, and licentious). Good for art and architecture, but disastrous for a historical faith like Christianity which is founded on truth.

I am a cradle Catholic, and I really started to understand and follow the Chruch( founded by Christ ) seriously. Everything the church is not always easy, but it correct. It becomes very easy after I decided God was everything. The Catholic Church stands up for life, but I also understand ( through the lives of Saints)that hardship is a pathway to peace. Mary was the tabernacle of our lord , so yes, she was sinless. Why would God have Christ born in a corrupt vessel. The time is approaching that we will be persecuted for what we believe. I believe there is much more to being a Christian than trying to literally believe in all the contradictions in the Holy Bible. I believe in Jesus! I believe what He taught, not what some preacher may have said what He taught. There is a "Tradition" Jesus passed that tradition on to St. Peter and not to Martin Luther or other near do wells.

I’m an old Protestant with many Catholic friends. In fact, a close friend who has died was a Monsignor Priest of the Holy Roman church. My father was an ex-communicated Catholic who married Protestant and raised his children Protestant. While I’ve gained a general understanding of the distinctions between the two religious practices, yours was the most concise explanation that organised my thoughts on the subject. I’m thankful I watched it, and thank you for making it.

@@patwhite7970 “Excommunication” was the term I heard my parents use. Just as that term has been redefined recently as “withdrawal of membership”, I suspect that in 1940, the lay expression of excommunication might have meant more of a “shunning” by parishioners than a specific application of canon law by the Church hierarchy.

@K-C McCann I was born and raised in a strict catholic family and what I remember about the concept (and the menace) of excommumication is more or less what you say. In some notorious cases such as kings, heressy, dissolute artists, etc. excommunication could be the result of a process involving the church hierarchy, such as what happenned to, in example, Henry VIII, Martin Luther or Paganini, but in most cases it was just the shunning of local priests and community, for things like practicing witchery, getting divorced or marrying a non-catholic person (quite random, as you can see). Anyway, it depended on the historical moment, country and other circumstances. Nowadays I think this procedure is not used any more, at least in ordinary life.

@@antoniong1449 Pax Christi! It is still used. A year ago or so I read the proclamation of the excomunication of a priest affixed to a wall in a parish. Formal excomunication is the ultimate measure the Church will take, and usually it does not do it, but use lesser forms of punishment, such as silence vows, etc. On the other hand, automatic excomunication (latae sententiae) is very common. It is basically an act done by the person who openly, or continuously denies an article of faith after having been clarified of it, like not wanting to repent from a mortal sin, defending atheist ideologies, adhering to anti-catholic groups (such as masons), accepting another religion, etc. And, no, a man who marries a person outside the faith is not excomunicated because of that. There are rules for marrying outside the faith.

I was raised a Catholic and spent twelve years attending Catholic school. I went to a Baptist college which accepted all denominations and encouraged everyone to attend Sunday worship of their faith and choice . With that said, I believe in the ten Catholic principles presented by Dr. Taylor in this podcast. I respect and accept all Protestant believers and their own princilals, but as for me, my personal choice is that of my Catholic faith. My dad was Protestant, and my mom was a practicing Catholic. I would be in total loss if I were to give up my Catholic heritage and would constantly be searching for more if I had been raised in a faith other than one instituted by Jesus. I feel Protestant faiths are a cop out for an easier life. Catholicism is beautiful and I am so proud of my faith!

Protestants aren't perfect either and many believe in themselves to believe or accept God or whatever. But sadly for both sides, Jesus always takes a back seat. He came, he taught, he died on the cross, now He is in heaven and his job is done. So much people ignore, "where 2 or 3 are gathered I am there with you". We, being humans base our beliefs on ourselves and our works cause we can't see God, so how do we fully trust God? Abraham did when he trusted God with offering his son as an offering. But God stopped him and gave him a ram, caught by the horns. Here we squabble over the differences between the denominations. Even Paul said something against it. But we have denominations because traditional tear the church apart. As long as we know and believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, was raised from the dead on the 3rd day, to defeat sin, death and the devil. We will be saved. And when he returns for his church, both Protestant and Catholics will be raised and reunited with their bodies and taken to heaven. This will be the glorious day for all believers!

I was raised a Protestant and became a Catholic when we were married. But my Catholic husband and I attended Protestant churches for many years so that our children could attend Sunday school, youth groups, etc-all those things that were not part of the Catholic Church in those days. I had reservations about the authority of the Pope, confession to a priest, prayers to Saints, etc. My husband went to Mass one time back in about 1986, and told me how much it had changed. We went to Catholic Mass for 10 years, but I was so busy raising children and teaching high school, that I did not really get to know the faith, se we then attended services at a Methodist Church. Then for some reason, I missed Communion and wanted it very much. Basically, God led me back to the Catholic Church. I studied Catholicism in earnest and realized that truths of the faith and my misconceptions about the faith. I would never go back to a Protestant Church, but we do remain thankful for our experiences with both adult and child Sunday school teachings. I am so happy to really know the Virgin Mary and all the wonderful traditions of the Church. I thank God that my husband and I are finally where we should be.

@annemariekoutsky5054 Fair enough. I stand corrected. Your correcting me affords me the opportunity to better clarify my post and get to the heart of the issue which is: The woman posted that when she “met her husband, she knew she would be a Catholic.” Really? That’s it? That’s all it took. Her comment is not uncommon. True Christians choose the Christian faith because they have met Jesus Christ, not another sinful human being. Countless men and women are choosing faiths of all kinds simply because their significant other is of that faith and they do it for various reasons including keeping the peace, expediency, theological laziness, indifference, harmony, love, lust, etc. That is no way to choose one’s faith (or marriage. catholic divorce rate is 43% Pew Research ) Rarely does one do it because they have looked to Jesus Christ in His word to determine how they can obey him and not be married to the wrong person for the wrong reasons. My father-in-law converted from being a Baptist to being a Catholic so he could marry his catholic fiancé. Really?? That’s why?? Yep! That is common. If fact, doesn’t Catholicism insist one convert in order to marry in the catholic church? So, the general gist of the thread of the posts was attempting to validate Catholicism as being a legitimate faith and her post in no way does that.

The true church are the believers and they come from All denominations , including Hindus Muslims Buddhist atheist , all who believe in Jesus and are born again , he gives us the mark of the Holy Spirit as his guarantee that we belong to him Take a good look at the statues are they man made ? You can’t ask a man made stature to pray they have sealed lips , Jesus send the Holy Spirit to be with believers to show us he is with us 24/7 . He said, will never leave you or forsake you . Those statues dint know you but Jesus does .8 Jesus the Great High Priest 14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,[a] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet he did not sin. ##16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.# stop praying to the dead , pray only to Jesus read the Bible to know the truth. Experience the Holy Spirit opens your eyes to the truth, you are responsible for your own salvation . No one else , joining a religion won’t change your salvation, it Jesus you need, and it’s he who gives us faith , we can’t have faith till we experience his love .. gives meaning the truth sets you free.

I'm a convert/revert. When I was learning about Catholicism in the 1950's the Catechism defined "limbo" as a state of natural happiness. I left the Church in 1972 and became "spiritual but not religious", so I missed everything that was happening until I returned in 2007. Three years ago I joined an FSSP parish and am grateful to finally be back where I started, yet it's sad to see how much the Church had become protestantized during my years of "wandering in the desert." I enjoy your topics!

Wow...35 years in the desert! I was about 15 years there. Yeah...I hear you. What I do is follow JESUS and not this Pope and his modernist friends. I read the Catechism (I try to stay out of the recent versions) and the Scriptures of course. It's still frustrating but whenever I feel like quitting, I always turn to HIM. Of course He sends good faithful Catholics like Doc here or true pastors like Archbishop Vigano and Schneider so I also listen to them. The waters are stirred up indeed BUT, He is still in charge! All we have to do is focus on Him and whenever we feel like sinking, grab His hands!!!!

They with ears to hear, let them hear: Through the Holy Spirit, God has put it on me to preach to those lost in the devil's deceit!

@@Call_Upon_YAH I grew up hearing this kind of talk from my family and the various churches where I went to Sunday school, so I know where your misunderstandings are coming from. There's a lot I can say but to be brief, two important points are: 1. Catholics do not "worship" the mother of Jesus, we honor her as Jesus did. 2. It's a historical fact that the Bible as you have it today was compiled by the Catholic Church, not by Protestants, and it was never intended for private interpretations (2 Peter 1:20). Non-catholic Christians can quote chapters and verses, but often miss their contexts. The same can said for Catholics who haven't learned the correct way to read the Bible. Finally, I believe that Jesus told us to "Judge not, lest ye be judged." Therefore, you take care of your own soul and I will, by the grace of God, take care of mine. God bless.

Are Catholic beliefs and practices biblical? The question that concerns every church and its practices should be, "Is this biblical?" If a teaching is biblical (taken in context), it should be accepted. If it is not, it should be rejected. God is more interested in whether a church does His will and obeys His Word than whether it can trace its lineage back to Jesus' apostles. Jesus was very concerned about the Word of God being rejected to follow traditions of men (Mark 7:7). Traditions are not inherently wrong...there are some good and valuable traditions. To reiterate, the concern should be whether a doctrine, practice or tradition is biblical. How then does the Catholic Church compare to the Word of God? Salvation: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that salvation is regenerated through baptism and maintained through the Catholic sacraments, except through a willful act of sin that destroys the sanctified state of grace. The Bible teaches that we are saved by grace, which we receive through simple faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), and that good works are the result of a changed heart worked out in salvation (Ephesians 2:10; I Corinthians 5:17) and through the fruit of new life in Christ (John 15). Assurance of salvation: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that Assurance of salvation: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that salvation is not guaranteed or certain. 1 John 5:13 says that the reason for writing 1 John was so that believers could be ASSURED of their salvation. Good works: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that Christians are saved by meritorious works (beginning with baptism), and that salvation is maintained by good works (receiving the sacraments, confessing sins to a priest, etc.). The Bible teaches that Christians are saved by grace through faith, completely apart from works (Titus 3:5; Ephesians 2:8-9, Galatians 3:10-11; Romans 3:19-24). Baptism: In the New Testament, baptism ALWAYS comes AFTER saving faith in Christ. Baptism is not the reason for salvation; it is faith in the gospel that saves (1 Corinthians 1:14-18; Romans 10:13-17). The Roman Catholic Church teaches the regeneration of infants through baptism, a practice never found in Scripture. The only possible reference to the baptism of infants that the Roman Catholic Church can point to is that the entire household of the jailer in Philippi was baptized, as recorded in Acts 16:33. However, the context never mentions infants. Acts 16:31 explains that salvation comes by faith. Paul addressed the whole household in verse 31, and the whole household believed (verse 34). This passage only supports the baptism of those who have already believed, not that of infants. Prayer: The Roman Catholic Church teaches Catholics not only to pray to God, but also to petition Mary and the saints for their prayers. Contrary to this, Scripture teaches us to pray to God alone (Matthew 6:9; Luke 18:1-7). Priesthood: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that there is a difference between priests and "commoners," where the New Testament teaches that all believers hold the priesthood (1 Peter 2:9). Sacraments: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that a believer is filled with grace by receiving the sacraments. This teaching is nowhere to be found in Scripture. Confession: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that, unless the believer is incapacitated, the only way to be forgiven of sins is through confession to a priest. In contrast, Scripture teaches that confession of sins is made to God alone (1 John 1:9). Mary: The Roman Catholic Church teaches, among other things, that Mary is the Queen of Heaven, everlasting Virgin and with redeemer who ascended to heaven. In the Holy Scriptures she is portrayed as an obedient, faithful servant of God who became the mother of Jesus. None of the other attributes mentioned by the Roman Catholic Church have their basis in the Bible. The view that Mary was the co-redemptrix and is another mediator between God and man is not only extra-biblical (found only outside of Scripture), but is also unbiblical (contrary to Scripture). Acts 4:12 declares that Jesus is the only Savior. 1 Timothy 2:5 proclaims that Jesus is the only mediator between God and man. Many other examples could be listed here. These points alone clearly identify the Catholic Church as unbiblical. Every Christian denomination has traditions and practices that are not explicitly based on the Bible. This is the reason why Scripture must be the standard for Christian belief and practice. The Word of God is always true and trustworthy. The same cannot be said about church traditions. Our guideline should be: "What does the Bible say?" (Romans 4:3; Galatians 4:30; Acts 17:10). 2 Timothy 3:16-17 proclaims, "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly prepared for every good work.

I am turning 30 and was raised Catholic on my father's side. I completed confirmation in an accelarated way when I was 17, mostly due to my grandmother having taught me much about Catholicism outside of church. My parents wanted to shelter me and my siblings from religion until we were old enough to really understand what we were getting into, so to say, or simply until we were able to make up our own minds ( I believe around that time there were a lot of sexual assault allegations with the church). I had been to Catholic mass a decent amount of times, was baptised at birth, and had already taken 1st communion prior. My grandparents on my father's side are devout Catholics, and on my mother's side, they are devout protestants. I've never been to a protestant church. This video gave me huge insights into the struggles I faced growing up, and still today, not really understanding the differences between the two and why my parents ultimately got divorced when I was 12. I have to say I got emotional watching it and am grateful for it. I am getting married this year, and my grandmother on my father's side has questioned why the wedding won't be in a church. My fiance grew up Catholic and went to Catholic school , but she had issues in school re: treatment from the nuns, and she is now put off from Catholicism. I would like to get a priest's blessing and will discuss it again with her. I have tried to live by the golden rule and live a virtuous life but feel I fell short in a lot of areas due to shying away from my faith. I don't know if anyone else feels like me, but it takes a lot of courage to be authentic nowadays due to what might happen if you say the "wrong thing" or go against the grain. They say don't talk about religion , sports, or politics. I have struggled with this my whole life, and it seems the stakes are getting higher these days, which is sad. Even putting this general info on a platform like KZbin could be used maliciously by someone, and so it's hard to trust. I'm ok with God watching , it is harder to trust people. Maybe I just need to pray more. I am grateful for the video, and hopefully, things change. God bless us all.

🌿🌻 Hi Nicholas, religion is man made and so is Catholicism like all the other religions of the world eg Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, etc. And now Chrislam introduced by the present pope of Rome. Don't be deceived. 🌿🌻 Jesus said to Nicodemus that he must be born again to enter into the kingdom of God. Infant baptism practiced by the catholic church is wrong. The right way to show the powers and principalities of this world that you belong to Jesus is baptism by immersion in water, whereby you take Jesus to be your personal Lord and Savior. 🌿🌻 Look out for a Bible based born again church. Start reading the Acts of the Apostles and then go to the Gospel of John and the truth therein will set you free. 🌿🌻 Jesus is coming soon to take those who belong to Him home in the Rapture. We must be holy and obedient to the Word of God. 👍👍👍 🌿🌻 Wishing you all the best in your quest for the truth of God's Word and please pray to the Holy Spirit to guide you.

Protestants (Evangelical church of Germany), considering becoming a catholic in my mid-30s. I was baptized as a child, learned about the Bible, but due to the rather „open-minded“ church in Germany, lost touch with my religion at an early age, except for going to church on Christmas (which is more of a tradition). In northern Germany, it is much more common to be Protestant. I then moved to Munich and connected with many Catholics and started re-discovering Christianity. Now living in Zurich, Switzerland for 8 years, which is again more Protestant and doesn’t feel religious at all, I’m feeling an urge to build a connection to my religion again, and I’m finding more alignment with my personal beliefs in the Catholic Church, than I can with the Protestants, especially locally. Hoping I’m on the right path, and will find my way into Catholicism🙏🏼

Now that you know the difference will you consider joining Jesus's Catholic church. Prior to Martin Luther, everyone was a Catholic and God performed many miracles for people. However, after Martin Luther and the King of England changed the meaning of the church; but now we have 3,800 Protestant churches and still one Roman Catholic and Apostolic church, maybe you can try HIS church and really see the difference. Anita they basically believe they are going to get to escape the end times by the "rapture", we don't believe that to be the case at all. Thus as a future Catholic you will have to ensure you maintain your state of grace (frequent confessions or at the very least confession when you are in mortal sin), frequent reception of the Holy Eucharist, have with you Holy objects that will help during the end times (Holy: candles, water, salts, oils etc.). Plainly stated if you are still alive when the end times happen you won't get to "skip" it and just be taken up, this is something you will have to endure and thus it is your job to remain ready to go at anytime.

I am a MO Synod Lutheran ( German Lutheran if you will) and Martin Luther did not change the liturgy. His whole issues were around the sale of indulgences Luther Stated in his 95 thesis that we are saved by Faith alone , and this not of ourselves, lest any man should boast, and the infallibility of the pope. Lutherans do not believe in transubstantiation while Catholics do. . (But here again we do not believe it is merely a symbol either.) Lutherans do believe in the keys of the Kingdom and that they may be activated at the time of excommunication.. Lutherans would never throw out the bread or the wine as they have been consecrated. Lutherans do follow sola scriptura ( At a time when the world was going through the Enlightenment). but also believe in the great conclaves of the Christian Church that gave us the Apostles Creed, the Nicean Creed, and even the Anasthasian Creed, argued about the books that made up the Apocrypha so forth and so on. Luther was not the same as other reformers like Calvin, Huss etc. ( otherwise there would be no difference between Lutherans and Baptists and there are significant differences in what Lutherans believe. Lutherans believe in infant baptism and most other Protestant denominations do not. Those are just a few things I wanted to add. Thank you

I was catholic for 50 years, went to primary school taught by nuns, next school also taught by nuns. I believed I was part of a club and had a ticket into heaven. I'd never been introduced to a bible. It was a catholic little book that told us the bare necessities, every prayer was repetitive, all saying the same thing. I also believed all we had to do was have each sacrament had to be followed. Witnessing sick babies and dying adults, panic hitting incase they'd died without the priest giving this last sacrament known as a rite. Also, praying to Mary, and dead people, wither I'd met them or not. I thank our Great Almighty God that He came for me. I dropped everything I was ever taught, I read and read everyday, for twenty years now my Bible, the word of God. Doesn't it make sense to hear what God Himself has to say , especially about my eternity, instead of fearing it from strangers iv never met. I learned first of all, I have a direct line to God myself, I don't need a priest , who by the way, is a sinner himself. God is never to bust nor to far away to hear my cry out to Him, He loves me, He knows my name, He tells me in His word I'm the apple of His Eye. Why would anyone pass up this love letter from God Himself to us? I'm in no group, I don't come under any church name, I stand alone with God , my faith is in Him, true faith is not instant, for me I read and read untill God knew I was truly seeking, we found each other. I fell in love with God, the word is God. The more you seek God the more He opens up to you, you understand certain things when He knows your ready for such things. No one has to pray repetitive words, half the time no one knows what theryr saying, Jesus abhors this . When we pray, we should pray from our hearts in our own words, we can pray like this, anywhere any time, we don't have to be in any buildings. My fav time is when I'm walking. Jesus hears me, direct line. And as for statues, if they fell and broke up would you all still pray to the broken plaster? Pictures, if they smashed , would you pray to broken glass and paper, or throw in bin? And as for people asking me, do you ever feel your ( dead ) mother or father around you? I say no way. Reason, if theyr in heaven, why would I expect to feel them here around me. Heaven and hell are places people go to and stay, no one pops in and out as they please. Is anyone hearing me? I'm the messenger, don't shoot me. Go find a bible and find out yourself, starting with New Testament, as for the last book Revelation, don't read this as you will not understand it, untill God , the Lord Jesus wants you to . It may take years. God bless you all.

I was raised Protestant. In my mid 20's I felt I was in need of something more, I was spiritually undernourished, and was baptized Anglican. My wife is a cradle Catholic. She never pressured me in any way. She let me decide for myself. I followed my pre-marriage agreement and my children were raised Catholic. We would attend my Anglican service one week,, and Mass the next. Over time I came to prefer Mass more, I was being fed spiritually in a way I wasn't in my own church. I was wanting desperately to take part fully in Mass. My wife's priest knew what was on my heart. I signed up for RCIA and when I made my Profession of Faith 30 years ago, I knew I had come home. It was all due to the Blessed Virgin. For background my mom died suddenly when I was a young teen. I never had the chance to say goodbye. I desperately missed her since. One time, while still Anglican, we were at my wife's church picnic, doing a living rosary. I was suddenly enveloped with a Love and acceptance that overwhelmed me. I was afraid to even breathe, that simple act might cause me to collapse into an uncontrollable weeping mess. I firmly believe still Mary came and welcomed me, giving me a warm, motherly embrace. I knew in my heart where I belonged.

@Mitchell Osmer Sure Mitchell. Let me see if I can talk on this subject. In Mathew chapters 16, 18 and 28 Our Lord Jesus tells His Apostles some very important details. He tells them that it is The Father in Heaven that has revealed something very special to Simon, son of Jonah. He then changes Simon's name to Peter, gives him the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven, the power to bind and loose, and the power to forgive or retain sins. And before He ascends into Heaven He tells them to "go into all nations baptizing in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey "all" that I have commanded you." All of which was oral Teachings or Tradition with a capitol T. "And I will be with you till the end of the age." A promise of Divine Assistance. We know that the four Gospels and the epistles were not written for decades after Christ ascended. But His teachings were taught and handed on. We also see in the Gospels that Jesus told them whatsoever you ask The Father in My Name shall be granted. Realizing how powerful it is to pray in the Mighty Name of Jesus, I once counted how many times I say the Holy Name of Jesus in praying a rosary. It is 61 times. That's a very interesting number for me because my mom who passed away in 2011 was 61 years old. I think that is very interesting. The rosary is a collection of prayers recited in a certain order and in these prayers we pray the Holy name of Jesus throughout this time. We also think about or meditate on the birth, life, passion, crucifixion, resurrection and ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ while praying these prayers. The word rosary or the method of praying a rosary is not found in the Old or New Testament. The New Testament is found in the rosary. For example. One of the prayers we pray in the rosary goes like this. (Oh my Jesus, Forgive us our sins and save us from the fires of hell, And lead all souls to Heaven, Especially those who have most need of Your Mercy.) In praying a rosary we pray for all souls, including yours. And we pray in the name of Jesus as we remember His Divine Life and what He has accomplished for us. I and my family and friends find great comfort in praying this beautiful collection of prayers. I have had some very powerful experiences during my prayer time which bring me much comfort and confidence that God is listening to my prayers. I'd be happy to share some of these experiences if you're interested. They have brought me to a deeper appreciation of my prayer life. I now understand things I didn't before about prayer. God bless you brother on your journey with Jesus in this life. Let us all seek a close relationship with God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

But I still love saying the Lord’s Prayer with every prayer & the Hail Mary. I still love the Good Friday services & the stations of the cross. I am a PC (preacher's child),and I can tell you of me experience being a Convert to the Catholic Church. The Baptist and all the others yes encourage you to bring the Bible to their services but their services are not what the Catholic church does. It is Bible studies and their opinion what the Bible means. There is no awe and understanding what the Sabbath means. If you like Bible studies Catholics do them too and I have actually learned more from them then the 22 years in the Baptist church. Look into the history of the Church Fathers. I was amazed to read and learn things Never taught and I went to a Baptist school from PreK through 12th grade. Memorization and perfecting your testimony was all I received out of it and a bunch of rules. Catholics have rules also but not the same kind. Catholic teaching is for your soul and I hate to say this but I was taught if you don't do this or don't do that then you are not a Christian and need to be saved over and over again because they put doubt into your mind. Also my brother was baptized 3 times before he was 21. Each time he rebelled they would say your weren't really saved the 1st time and now you are saved and must be re baptized. Jesus never said be baptized multiple times. Just something to think about. I hope this may help someone and Please keep reading your Bible because the Holy Catholic church in the 300's felt it was a good thing and was the one that put it together in the first place.

I get particularly disgusted when these learned me with a "dr" in front of their name, who should have a higher standard, instead use it as some form of license to throw around their "wisdom " as if it were fact. @@TIJoe-te9quI used to think Luther did a noble deed when I didn’t know everything he claimed and never as a Protestant thought about the obvious fruit of sola scriptura and sola fide on display all around me. Luther rejected church authority to claim his own. He was not a good man and he made many unscriptural claims, creating a following that knows little of his teaching other than the propaganda repeated over and over by Protestants. Scripture states plainly that we are not justified by faith alone, but Protestants hold firmly to it and try to explain away James while adding words to Romans. It’s mind boggling! Luther was a schismatic heretic. If you read his writings it will give you a much different view of the man who is famous to Protestants for his unscriptural claims. The reality is that sola Fide isn’t refuted in scripture and sola scriptura isn’t found anywhere in the pages of scripture, which was given by the Holy Spirit and defined by the one Holy Catholic Apostolic church. God bless you on your journey! I’m forever thankful my journey led me to the church after 30 years of embracing Protestant chaos.

The only thing that I always argue in protestantism is point nine in the video, salvation. I always thought about it as a process and a moment at once, when you are born the process starts and never ends until your death, but when you find Christ it is a moment. Although you can loose connection with him, because we know that life is unpredictible, but you always have the oppurtunity to get back to your Pastor. Long live our Lord!

@P!nned By Dr Taylor Marshall... the catholic church is a false and pagan church it was never started by Jesus if the same Roman catholic church were the ones who killed Jesus. Catholics are not Christians nor they'll never be or have eternal life. You can't think you're saved if your church are the same ones who killed the one who can save you.

As a Catholic I have heard that non Catholics believe we pray to saints … as we should only pray to God. In a more Old English way of speaking, the word pray was used as way of asking for someone’s attention. As in “Pray John are you going to travel ….” You “ pray” to a saint that way. Asking a saint to PRAY for you just as we ask a friend to PRAY for us. Hope I am showing the difference between a word with what is now 2 meanings.

He is not unbiased as he started by insulting Luther (for some reason) he also said that protestants as a whole believe that communion is only representative when Lutherans Calvinists and many other traditions hold to some form of true presence in the eucharist even though Luther had an infamous debate with Zwingli (another protestant and someone i don't like for his MANY heterodox beliefs) where he defended true presence (as many Lutherans would say "IS MEANS IS"). Anyone who claims to tell you the differences between 'Catholics' and 'protestants' in general. probably isn't unbiased. (I don't like both anti-protestants and anti-Catholics as they both miss the point.) Also a lot of the differences between protestants (like Lutherans) are because we use different definitions for thing. (but there are still many differences.)

As a converting protestant it cracked me up when I first learned that after the protestants broke away from Rome with the mantra "Scripture Alone" that the first thing they did was remove 7 books out of the scripture. So much for making Scripture the rule of faith. Now they have 66 books which is not a great number as the number 6 signifies something less than complete or perfect. Then they have the audacity to claim that Catholics added in the books to justify some of their doctrine. Luther even removed the Book of James from his German bible, calling it the "Epistle of straw" but his followers made him put it back in.

No he didn't. All of the 73 books are in the German translation Luther made, and even the King James bible had all of the books. The canon only got shortened when some Baptist printers decided to save some money by leaving out the seven books, and most Protestants go along with it out of convenience. Anglicans and Lutheran do read the Apocrypha even if they do not drive their theology from it.

I would love to talk to my family of the importance of practicing our religion but I cannot as they never let me talk about God, they just say that it’s not the place to talk about God, wherever we are and that they don’t need this talking about God. Jesus Christ was so right when He said that it’s very difficult for a prophet or apostle/deciples to evangelize in their own town of people who know you but it’s better to go to places where people don’t know you and it’s so true. I am guilty of it at times in my life, but have recently been burrowing into Gods word and truly feeding my relationship with him. Cleaning up my language and life. I do believe fully that once we are saved, we cannot lose our salvation, however, I often think of the parable of the sower and the seeds. We must show our faith by our works, and our works by our faith. We have to always be an example of Christ and the be worthy of calling ourselves Christians.

After proclaiming the faith in Jesus, one must do good works to justify his faith. I agree with your stand on the parable of the sower. @@sebinantony6983 💥S A L V A T I O N💥 🕵️In human perspective, good works are necessary as evidence of one's true faith. Humans as we are, we don't have the capacity to know whether a person has true faith or not. Thus, good works, being visible to the eyes, are necessary to serve as evidence of one's true faith. This is the context of James' epistles. IT'S ABOUT HOW A PERSON CAN BE JUSTIFIED BEFORE MEN AND NOT BEFORE GOD. 🕵️ However, in God's perspective, being omniscient, good works are not necessary anymore. This is because everything is visible to him. He doesn't wait for a person to prove his true faith through good works because God knows it already. This is the context of Paul's epistles. IT'S ABOUT HOW A PERSON CAN BE JUSTIFIED BEFORE GOD. 1️⃣ Grace and works can't be fused together. If we mix faith with works, it nullifies the effect of grace: 📖Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it NO MORE OF WORKS: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. 📖Romans 4:5 But to him that WORKETH NOT, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 2️⃣ Salvation is by faith and not by works: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast. 📖Titus 3:5 NOT BY WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 🚨 Practical example: The theft on the cross with Jesus Christ did not have the chance to prove himself through good works, because his hands and feet were both nailed on the cross. He was not baptized. He did not have the chance to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. However, it's his true faith in the Lord Jesus Christ that saved him unto paradise. 💥 B O T T O M L I N E 💥 🧑‍⚖️ Jesus Christ saved us through faith. Good works are the byproducts of faith. As Christians, we do good works not to be saved from hell, but out of responsibility as saved individuals. 🧑‍⚖️ Jesus Christ did not saved us to become futile. He saved us to become productive. 🧑‍⚖️ Therefore, it's GRACE THROUGH FAITH that saved us, and GOOD WORKS are just byproducts of it.

What I care about is living a life and being with other true believers that glorifies God. I don’t think you described what the protestant church believes , its practices,or is the foundation. There are many different churches and there are very many now false churches and false religions that call themselves Christian. We need to be together as all believers, Christians- Catholic or Protestant . Each with different ways of Worshiping. We may not use the word - Sacraments, but those different practices and beliefs are part of our churches too.. Thank you so much for sharing so clearly about Catholicism. @@milesalberto3165 Daniel 7.25; He ( the little horn that arose from pagan Rome, ie the popes) will think to change times and LAWS... They got rid of the 2nd commandment so they could have graven images for the pagan converts to worship, they tried to change the Sabbath to Sunday , then they split the 10th commandment into two forms of coveting, so they would still have 10 commandments after discarding the 2nd one. Therefore, their Sunday "Sabbath" commandment, which does not identify the SEVENTH day, is the third one in the Catholic Bible, instead of the FOURTH commandment in the REAL Bible. What an abominable act by the papal man of sin. He must go to the lake of fire.

I'm glad to hear the way the Catholic think. As a Protestant, I don't think we were representated equally, though it's natural for some bias to creep in. We do not follow Martin Luther or anyone else based on their teachings alone. We just follow Jesus and the Bible. The real, alive Jesus. There is biblical evidence for everything we believe, and NO biblical evidence for the differences presented in Catholicism. (And I'm talking about the books we have in common. Even if you say it's coz we have different Bibles, that shouldn't matter because we have most of the Bible in common, so that wouldn't contradict the missing books.)

@@ripcord8738 your response is why I love the Catholic Church, and will forever remain Catholic. You response in which you reply " with all due respect", is followed by a statement which totally contradicts the meaning of the word "respect". The word respect means "a deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities or achievements.", of which you obviously do not have for me. How can you respect someone whom you pass negative judgement on, and by doing so condemn them in your heart? This oppose the teachings of Christ. For myself, I can't respect you, because I don't respect those who do not love others as Christ has commanded. If you actually respected me, your reply statement would be completely different, and uplifting. I've been an atheist (nearly 35 years now) which is far longer than I ever participated (I don't think I ever really believed tbh). My mother is very religious though and has belonged to Methodist churches, Baptist churches, Protestant churches, plain old Christian churches (I never did quite understand what that meant), and that's just what I remember from my childhood. I think she's actually going to a Unitarian church now. Maybe it's for that reason that I have a tremendous fascination with religions and the people who practice them. Though I have mostly found, in general, atheists are some of the most curious people about religion and the nature of faith. Often more than those who are religious. Since atheists don't care about a religion of their own, it almost seems to open the door to learning about everyone else's. I realized watching this video that every time I've read the Bible cover to cover (three times now, around every ten years) it was a Catholic Bible. I've perused other Bibles, but the text just doesn't sound as pretty, so they were never the ones that I elected to read to completion. It's a little funny though, because my mom went to almost every church except the Catholic Church and by the time I was born, my dad was agnostic and a lapsed Catholic.

Thank you for this explanation. I am now and have always been Catholic. As a young adult I attended a Protestant university because it was across the street from my parents house and the closest Catholic university was far away and I had no way to get there. That was a very interesting time in my life that I will never regret. The main thing I learned and I pray all Christian denominations will understand soon is that we all believe Jesus Christ is our lord and savior and we were created by the same God. We are in a time that the Christian population is dwindling. We need to understand that we can believe what we believe and we can worship the way we choose, but put aside our differences and stand together as brothers and sisters in Christ to uphold our fundamental Christian beliefs❤

Being raised Lutheran in the 1970s was really a hybrid between Catholicism and Protestantism. I was confirmed like a Catholic, recited the creeds, and being saved was a process, similar to Catholic teaching. During the Jesus movement of the 1970s I came to understand the Protestant teaching g of being “Born Again” and in college I attended a Protestant university. Today I attend a Protestant church but feel equality comfortable in a Catholic Church. Whether we are Catholic or Protestant we are all brothers and sisters in Christ and we have much more in common than different. We need to demonstrate unity in the spirit to help teach the lost, and quit worrying about our differences. Can you imagine Jesus being part of this conversation? We sound like the Pharisees sitting around and debating various points of the Old Testament law.

What is a neighbor? If not someone of another house and another father? What then is a brother if not someone of a different household and of another father . If you are not truly born again then you cannot see the kingdom of God , if you are not born of the Word of God and the Spirit of God you cannot enter the kingdom of God . What fellowship then has the temple of idols with the temple of the living God? How can two walk together and agree? Man was created in the image of God but he is born of a corruptible seed of Adam . You MUST therefore be born of that incorruptible seed which is the Word of God. For that image of God by the fall and of sin is so Marred or lost it is unrecognizable . “ Shapen in iniquity “ if a man finds himself in hell it will not be do Much because they have sinned “ for all have sinned” but because they do not carry the image of God in them and God will reject them as His sons .

My dear friend. That's not Catholics who started this schism. That's not Catholics separated themselves from protestantism, that's protestants who separated from Christ's Church founded in 33 AD and founded new disunited "churches" after 1517 AD. If protestants want unity, they should condemn all false teachings introduced by immoral wolves like Luther, Calvin, Henry VIII or Cranmer and return to the Church betrayed by their fathers. This "unity" you promote is like "unity" of northern pagan and apostatic kingdom of Israel with southern monotheistic kingdom of Juda without resolution of religious controversies.

I really appreciate the calm, instructive way you presented this material. It gives me a lesson in explaining to others the differences. Thank you for that. There is a publication which really solidified Mary to me: The Poem of the Man God. It showed me exactly why we venerate Our Blessed Mother. I think Protestants, who so much love their Bible, must have a conflict when in their Bible Mary proclaims: "My soul MAGNIFIES the Lord." My Protestant friends think Mary takes away from our Love of God. And of course none of them can understand Transubstantiation, a mystery few can fathom.

If the Lord is the most powerful, the pure, whole, right, complete, almighty, etc... Then how can you believe that another spirit, the spirit of Mary, is the magnification of the lord, which by definition, would mean "the Lord amplified." Wouldn't that mean that you believe that Mary, rather than the Lord, is the almighty spirit? I am neither Catholic nor Protestant- I'm just trying this understand

I just came across this video so I apologize for commenting on something a year old. I am Episcopal. I was taught some differences between our church and the Catholic church that you didn't mention. 1. The idea/practice of confession. In the Episcopal church, we do not do a confession to a priest. We do a group confession where we confess that we have sinned "by the things that we have done and the things we have left undone." There is no intermediary - only you and God know your sins, know whether you truly repent and know if you have been absolved. 2. The celibacy of priests. The Catholic church believes that for a priest to dedicate himself wholly to the service of God, he must sacrifice the more earthly distractions of sex, marriage, children, etc. The Episcopal church does have monastic brothers and nuns who are celibate but also believes that having priests who are married, in relationships, are parents, they are better able to be a part of the community, counsel on family matters, understand the ups and downs of the full range of human relationships. 3. The ordination of women. Catholics do not have female priests because there were no female disciples of Christ. Episcopals disagree with this, believing that the history of women in the early church has been distorted or left out. Biblical and Appocryphal literature suggests that there were female members among Christ's early followers who did go out to preach and testify to his words. 4. The acceptance of homosexual people and their right to marry in the church. The US Episcopal Church's view on homosexuality is not held by all in the Anglican Communion. However, here, we believe that the physical sexual characteristics of a couple does not and should not preclude their right to love one another, commit to one another, raise a family together and be recognized as a legal and spiritual unit. These differences are not to suggest that I believe that Catholicism is bad or even wrong in its theology. The beliefs of the Episcopal Church are right for ME. They may not be for others.

I'm currently returning to the Catholic faith after a self imposed exile. I wanted to explore the world without a sense of moral obligation and whilst trying to flee guilt by rejecting God, because I wasn't even Christian, I actually incurred a huge debt on my part and had to turn back to God out of the immense guilt that built up inside me. My life wasn't lived in any more grievous manner than you'd expect in these modern times, so certainly nothing criminal, but I still felt like my soul couldn't bear anymore misuse of my Body. So all I want to say is that Christ found me again(but I found him for the first time ever) and he prevented me to go further into my depression and I have never felt so free to Love, and I actually mean Real Love. That's why I turned to the Catholic Church again. I'm 24 and actually very much in Love with the Church+Jesus Christ! God Bless You and Good luck on your Journey!
