Outside of the obvious regarding these pieces of trash… when the cop radios it in, he said “side swiped”, which is a completely different thing than being t-boned! As an ex-Paramedic I can tell you that could make a very consequential difference in the response. “Side swipe” is a very minor accident! “T-bone” at 83 miles an hour is usually fatal.

I wouldn’t confidently say a side-swipe is a “minor” accident. By large when we think of one, sure (as we usually think a slight swipe, taking a mirror off, etc), but definitely not all. Depending on how fast two vehicles are traveling, a side-swipe can turn just as damaging at those speeds and cause major injuries and even fatalities.

Usually they triage and have backup to quickly decide who is more injured. They get the first ambulance no matter who it is. You’ll see this in any casualty incident. However this guy didn’t have backup, and the driver already fled once, and his vehicle may not have been incapacitated so he may wanted to prevent them fleeing again with his presence.

Mistakes were made: calling in a side swipe when it was clearly a T-bone, driving past innocent driver without checking on him/her, not cuffing the driver before walking away from the driver and left the door open, calling in tow truck before ever mentioning EMS, asking all info on passenger without even confirming all occupants had no life threatening injuries. What struck me odd was he asked for her phone number like maybe he had a chance at dating her later? Then walking around not knowing what to do next. The runner could be armed, the pickup driver could be dying, yet the first focus is to get her phone number is completely out of place.

Not only was the Sedan the Suspect's Vehicle, But it also was T-Boned in the Intersection, meaning the Truck's Engine Block made Contact with the Passenger Door of the Sedan. I'm not a expert on automobiles, but I think the Engine is alot more suited to take a impact then a car door. Meaning the Sedan is more likely to have severe injuries inside of the Vehicle. Also another unit showed up in 4 Minutes to help the Truck Driver, meanwhile the Officer that was first on-scene secured the fleeing vehicle and it's occupants.

Way to long to notify dispatch of the chase, didn't check on the victims, barely checked on the suspects passengers(to the point he didn't even know there was a 3rd passenger for 15 minutes), solely focused on ID, license plates etc instead of safety of anyone, didn't call for ambulance, - I could go on. This is an example of a cop that didn't call in a pursuit as soon as it began, so he is covering his own tracks and putting injured people's lives in jeopardy. If you listen his first transmission to dispatch he is already trying to minimize the wreck, also he states he clocked the vehicle on one road, but doesn't tell the dispatcher that the vehicle then fled from him to the current location where a very serious mva has occurred. He already knew it wasn't a side swipe when he saw the wreck, but because he had failed to correctly call in the pursuit, he plays it off like a simple sideswipe accident, not the high speed mva that is life threatening to the occupants of both vehicles. Yes the drunk driver is at fault here and he should pay dearly for his crimes, but this officer took an oath to protect and serve, that means even criminals get the brst medical treatment from him too, not to mention he should have checked on the innocent driver first, just briefly to make sure they did not need immediate attention. Then when the second officer shows up, he is more worried about getting the vehicle infro for his report instead of asking about the health of the occupants, then he tells an outright lie about the pursuit. He knows he has screwed up and he is more worried about how he looks then the health of several people who have just been in a very serious accident. Just disgusting, I am a very staunch supporter of first responders, I was one myself, but I have no patients for this type of bullshit! These people deserve to be treated better, and he knows that. The reason the dispatcher is short with him is because he made this sound like just a minor fender bender. Had he let the dispatcher and those listening know the seriousness of the situation, he wouldn't be stepping on people on the channel because they would have kept the channel clear. This is all on this cop, he totally blew this and should have been disciplined.

More worried about running plates than the victim's health he needs to be retrained right away. This cop needs to Bo back to school….he calls it in as “He failed to stop for the stop sign”, he actually blew a RED LIGHT, continues with “and side-swiped a pickup”, when he was actually T-BONED by the pickup, then he fails to check on the pickup driver at all!!!!!! There's nothing wrong with remaining calm and collected during an emergency. In fact it's often an advantage which most of us don't possess...but this cop was almost too calm. He was literally more interested in the aspects of arranging the tow truck(s) and tow slips. Even the dispatcher was clearly irritated with him as well. Everyone here is lucky to be alive and ambulatory. Hopefully this young man learns from this mistake and turns things around.
