About Drunk History:
Based on the popular web series, Drunk History is the liquored-up narration of our nation's history. Host Derek Waters, along with an ever-changing cast of actors and comedians, travels across the country to present the rich tales that every city in this land has to offer. Booze helps bring out the truth. It's just that sometimes the truth is a little incoherent.

Right? I don't understand why you'd even want to drink if whenever you drank you got all angry and ornery and shit! And the funny part is, the people like that are usually the ones that have drinking problems, Haha! Like wtf! I get super giggly and happy when I drink...I mean emotional, yes, but if anything I get positive emotions more intensely but negative ones...if I felt my negative emotions more intensely when I drank I wouldn't wanna drink I just don't get it!

Except it's not true. It's false. People don't of Bass Reeves as the insiration for the Lone Ranger because the people who created the Lone Ranger (for children's radio in 1933) wouldn't have had any way to know about Reeves. The Lone Ranger was made by combining elements of heroes from early motion pictures of the 20s and 30s. The correct question to ask is, ''Why was Bass Reeves virtually unknown before the 2000s when figures like Bat Masterson and Wyatt Earp were made into popular entertainment back in the 1950s?'' Then the answer would be, ''Because he's black.'' That's enough of a story. It shouldn't need to be embellished with made up claims about the origin of the Lone Ranger character.

Despite accounting for only about 12% of the population of the US, black Americans accounted for up to 25% of cowboys! The cattlemen, outlaws, settlers, and ranchers of the US has always been the tradition of minorities in America. It was a tradition started by Hispanics and spread to the white and black alike

This guy was seriously amazing. I remember reading a book about him in middle school. Apparently, one night after he had captured some men and put them in a jail cart (a wagon with bars, basically) he went to sleep. In the night a skunk walked by and the bad guys threw rocks at it to get it to spray Reeves. Instead, Reeves woke up and pet the skunk. Not kidding. This was in library book. This man was legendary.

The job Reeves took on was dangerous. The US Marshall Service states "Line of Duty Deaths Prevalent in Old West" "Dangerous duty" One example is "1885, Deputy Marshal Jim Guy, along with possemen Bill Kirksey, Andy Roff and James Roff, were killed in Delaware Bend. Indian Territory, in a shoot-out with the Pink-Lee Gang;" (Bass Reeves worked in Indian Territory where the worst outlaws tried to escape to)

Paige Washington - They were the Spanish, not Chinese. Large areas of the US belonged to Mexico/the Spanish long ago. Almost all of what we consider the wild west, in fact, was under Mexico rule. New Mexico wasn't named New Mexico just for fun. ;P Then settlers wanted farm steads and the South wanted to expand slavery, and so we pushed west and fought several wars to gain that area (smaller, lesser known wars like the Mexican-American war of 1846 that was fought over Texas -- current residents wanted slavery in Texas but Mexico had outlawed it decades before and the South wanted anything that would expand slavery so yeah. Remember the Alamo truly wasn't all that heroic when you understand the context of it.) A lot of the original European settlers didn't leave when the land was given to the US.

@@SKaR64 You are technically right, though I haven't heard of a single one of them. However, a film so small that it doesn't even have it's own wikipedia page doesn't seem like a fitting tribute. I'm looking forward the the show HBO has in development though.

@@TheRepty818 Sadly, western films are no longer popular. It's really hard to get the money to make them, which effects all aspects of the productions. Even when they make a good big budget movie, they usually bomb or barely break even. The recent film Hell on the Border was the best Reeves biopic and had some great actors, but it suffered from a poor script, bad sets and awful production.

@@SKaR64 Maybe we can get Quentin Tarantino to direct. He just did two big westerns. Also, Bone Tomahawk was a great movie on a small budget. Though I figure if we want to go through Reeves whole life it would need to be bigger than that.

@@TheRepty818 Well, those movies certainly weren't your traditional westerns. They seemed to be long on gore and horror. The recent Kurt Russell films didn't cost much to make, but they didn't make a lot of money either at the box office. Westerns are a big gamble these days.

I can be that kind of drunk just depends on the situation. Especially around old friends and people I have lots of respect & admiration for. I just can't help it. I had to quit drinking in my late 20s for awhile because I had been in and out of a lot of relationships in my early 20s as I explored the dating game. I got married the year I turned 26 and would revert in my mind to single mode when I drank! Gah! So I took a break from it until I knew I could control that part of myself. Though drinking always turns me into a flirt. I can also be kinda scary if I get drunk on Whiskey, it makes me a mean drunk!
