My personal stem cell experience... I am 70 years old and 10 years ago I had an MRI that found two torn miniscus and a bone spur in my left knee and med to advanced arthritis in both knees. I was in a lot of pain! I had stem cells from a delivered placenta (so no moral problem) and my own spun blood plasma injected into both knees, praying it would help. My knees were noticeably better the next day, but completely like new within about 3 weeks! I have no more arthritis and it's been 10 years! And the bone spur and two torn miniscus are healed. 70 years old now and knees like new. I tell everybody, but the sad thing is that insurance co's don't pay for it, so it doesn't get much awareness! A few issues NOT covered in this otherwise informative discussion of chocolate: First off, the lower the cacao percentage the HIGHER the amount of sugar or other sweetener. Sugar is to be avoided. WHO advise people to eat 25 grams or less per day. So, if you are going to eat chocolate with a lower cacao percentage, realize the the balance is going to be a sweetener of some sort. Personally, I look for chocolate that is either 85% cacao or, if lower, then sweetened with stevia or some other natural sweetener. The second issue Dr. Li left out (forgot?) is to mention is what is the maximum amount of chocolate or cocoa to be consumed per day. One square per bar or ??? I would recommend that before you regularly consume a cacao product, you ensure that the company has a third party test all finished products for heavy metals to ensure low levels. The Consumer Reports article is entitled "A Third of Chocolate Products Are High in Heavy Metals, CR's Tests Find". Thanks again, Dr. Li, for another great video.

Invaluable information! TY Yes, Consumer Reports tested 28 Dark chocolate bars for lead and cadmium. Europe has clear policies and limits on the presence of heavy metals in food, but the US does not 😮. The FDA has yet to establish specific limits on heavy metals contamination in finished food products. Limits only exist in bottled water, which I've recently read has microplastics!! Fiji on the safe list, was recently recalled.🙄 Top picks for least heavy metals in Chocolate: 1. Mast Organic Dark Chocolate 80% Cocoa 2. Taza Organic Chocolate 70% Cocoa 3. Ghirardelli Intense Dark Chocolate Twilight Delight 86%/72% Cocoa 4. Valrhona Abinao Dark Chocolate 5. Villakuyaya Organic Dark Chocolate Single Origin 100% Cocoa Worst: 1. Theo Organic Pure Dark 70%, 80% 2. Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Lovers 85% 3. Lily's Extremely Dark 85% Cocoa 4. Green & Blacks Organic Dark Chocolate 70% Cocoa. I've consumed 3 of the bad brands, 2 of the good brands.

While mentioning the sugar issue, there is one more factor that should be mentioned. In general higher cacao percentage is better because it means less sugar, but higher does not always mean better in another respect. When you go over 80-85%, you need to check to see if the particular bar has been "treated with alkali" or "dutched". To remove the bitterness in very high cacao chocolates, they often treat the cacao with alkali, which removes the flavanoids. Yes, it is less bitter, and yes, it has less sugar, but it also has less of the good things that gives the cacao its flavor and makes it good for you.

Doctor Li, Would ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid (EDTA) oral supplementation remove the lead & cadmium from your body? If yes....maybe a video on best practices of oral EDTA therapy.

So I guess Sam's Club brand 85% and 90% is no good, then ??😮😢 I go through one bar a week by nibbling. Intense flavor allows just a little bit at a time.

Hi Doc, I don’t actually eat chocolate per se because of its sugar content but I do nibble roasted cacao(atleast 10 roasted cacao) with my early cup of black sugar-free coffee. I’ve been doing this for almost a year now and I just feel the health benefits its giving to my body. Now, my question is if it’s ok to consume just roasted cacao seeds in the long run. Thanks for answering☺️

Any chocolatier would advise not to eat chocolate ( especially good) with coffee. But, as it's your national day, so ,' you do you'.
