It's hilarious to me because I never watch any of the gameplay videos and I've never played the games but I always knew it was sarcasm. Dude I relate to you a lot. I worked as an editor for a volunteer indie game-it was just a group of non-paid volunteers. Our first time for most of us ever working on a video game. Anyways, we were getting close to completing the game and they were putting the art assets together. I found out that for a single 2D character there were over 300 handmade images. And this was only one character. And they would need the programmers to manually code over 300 separate images into the game. I wrote to the group literally saying, “Hey, I wonder if in the next game if it would help to make 3D models of the characters.” And man, you wouldn’t believe the instant over reaction. I literally said that I was just wondering if it would help-not anything more. But ppl reacted like I said that all the art was crap-which I do NOT think at all. It’s beautiful, truly. That wasn’t at all my intention to offend anyone. But it would literally have been better if I had posted I dunno….a loud fart or something. Lol. Even when I tried to explain that I didn’t mean anything negative at all about the art-I literally was truly just innocently thinking of how to make processes more efficient-basically it was game over for me. The entire team just from that one post instantly hated me. So yeah, that has been my first direct experience in game development and well-the people there in my opinion are a bit psycho. I thought that game developers, especially in indie, would be essentially free-spirited, excited about trying new things-but nope. At least my first foray was the exact opposite. 😂 It was definitely more like, you stick your toe slightly over the line and we’re gonna beat the crap out of you. I’m not even kidding. Though I do like making funny imagery of it. I really understand a bit what you’re going through. I was beat down like a piñata set up for kids who hadn’t had candy for a month or something.
