Btw. I typed “ dump truck to dump trailer “ in the KZbin search bar and yours was the only one to come up

@@wildcatwilly that one guy was talking about trailer brakes. I’m looking into a surge type setup that might work. “ trailer surge brakes “
@wildcatwilly Жыл бұрын
I'm familiar yeah it would work good as long as you have hydraulic brakes
@wildcatwilly Жыл бұрын
I will say I have had this thing overloaded the max and it really hasn't been too bad... My little 45 horsepower tractor handled it heaping with concrete boulders stacked in like cord wood
@terryatpi Жыл бұрын
@@wildcatwilly yup. The truck is a 370 gas with hydraulic brakes. It’s a real dog that don’t want to stop. Doesn’t really belong on the road imo. I through that on for others that may be looking into it. 1986 long 610 4wd 64hp . I’ll take it right down the road like you.

Love the belting cover! I've done a bunch of smaller trailers like that from pickup trucks I parted out. Some states won't permit a differential to be used as a trailer axle but there are ways around that like slicing out the center section then running suitably heavy pipe between original hubs. Those wanting one that big in a legal, safer form (with brakes) form can get used air brake tag axles to mod if they have a big truck or use hydraulic surge brakes. It's worth knowing about that stuff since a lot of those parts can be had serviceable used.

Yeah it works well. Definitely put brakes on it if you think you need it. Out here in the boondocks I can get away with it.

Idea for battery.....rig up an alternator that spins off of the rear end center diff where the drive shaft would go!! Belt and pulley....
@wildcatwilly Жыл бұрын
Way too much work! I would just wire the seven pole trailer plug and charge the battery that way while driving.

A very cost effective way to have dump trailer. It is a problem to license I would think that our local DOT a would have a payday here with this in KY. That being a c60 the weight rating is around 17500 lbs. I know that can never be pulled at that load rating but the FOT would look at your tire rating with a single axle.

That I don't know about I always heard a rumor that if you convert it to a tractor pain if it becomes a farm implement... Pure speculation... And then I just mounted slow moving vehicle sign and make sure I use my hazard lights at all times and I just use it locally never on the interstate I haven't had any issues yet...

Making one in the spring from my 1987 f700. Will be using truck and tractor like you. Just one line to the tractor I take it ? Pretty cool. Thanks for the info
@wildcatwilly2 жыл бұрын
Yes one line... (single acting cylinder) if you replace the cylinder pay the extra for a double acting cylinder and pump. Mine can get stuck at the top end...
@terryatpi2 жыл бұрын
So one line to the tractor ? Your using the hydraulic oil from the tractor then ? How does the tractor accept the oil back ? Thanks. I’m a little confused as you can tell. Anything you can tell me is much appreciated. Thanks again. Subscribed, Terry
@wildcatwilly Жыл бұрын
Spend the extra money if you have to replace the cylinder with a hydraulic cylinder with two lines coming out of it. I have to shut the tractor off to let it receive the oil back. I have my rig set up where I can use a 12 volt battery with a pickup truck pulling the dump truck or I can switch to a tractor and use the tractors hydraulics as well. Sorry if I wasn't clear before. Amazon... I would highly recommend going with a double acting cylinder if your budget will allow

Wasn’t sure if the 12 volt system would work with the original cylinder. Thanks for the video. I saw on and the guy used a gas motor to run the original hydraulic system.

How bad does it weigh your truck down? Can you pull 5 to 6 ton easily? I'm thinking about building one. Those pump reservoir combos are only 300 to $400.
@wildcatwilly Жыл бұрын
Honestly mine is perfectly balanced. It gives me just enough tongue weight.
