I started watching your channel because I'm fascinated by low technology methods of doing things. I never expected you to get into fiber crafts, which is a special interest of mine. I'm so excited by your loom and the cloth you've made with it! Your skills and persistence amaze me, especially that you seem to have done it all from memory, even the building of the loom. You are a very impressive man. I hope your parents have come to appreciate that. I know your beautiful and equally talented wife does. 😊
@_Wai_Wai_
@_Wai_Wai_ Жыл бұрын
Can you explain what is going on in the loom? All I see is a string out of a shuttle that gets snaked thru between two layers of fibers, back and forth. Don't see how that creates a weave.
@dingus42
@dingus42 Жыл бұрын
@@_Wai_Wai_The two layers are set up such that the lines on top are all alternating with the ones below. So each time he pulls the shuttle through the gap, it effectively instantly weaves that thread up and down through every line in one go. Then he uses the other frame to compact the weave down.

Duong, that is AMAZING. I agree with the other comments, I can't even find words to describe how impressed I am. By the way, I noticed you are trying to use your legs instead of your back to lift ;) Hope your back feels better~ --- You can try making a pillow! Use chicken feathers for pillow stuffing~ You might need to forge scissors, cutting fabric with a knife is very hard! Use some of the cloth as kitchen towels! Dry your hands, or wash dishes with them! If you have enough fabric, you could even make window curtains with them! You should really try making soap out of wood ash, you will need soap to keep your new clothes fresh and clean! You can also make table cloth~ Just drape it over your kitchen table and make it look more upgraded, nicer looking, fancy, clean. You could make a bench and put some pillows on it for comfort. You can also drape the bench in fabric to make it look extra nice and comfortable. You could upgrade your bedroom and add bed sheets! You could also make a blanket to keep you warm at night :) You could also make a cloth lamp for your electric light.

I love watching these videos! It looks like you could use a wood working adze and a hewing axe that would make your wood carving easier and less labor intensive. As a blacksmith I love seeing that you have progressed into the Iron Age. You could probably even manage a water powered saw mill with the technology you have upgraded to. Forge on my friend!!!

I love how this series has almost become like a peek into what early Southeast Asian civilizations would have looked like. 1000x better than any textbook, even if certain aspects (especially crops from the Americas and perhaps iron working, depending on time and place) aren't exactly 100% accurate.

Chayote?! Cool!! Give them a big trellis and keep them healthy and happy. They will produce a lot!! : ) I don’t know if they will grow well this late in the season, but hey, you might as well try it and find out! Make sure to sprout more early next spring for a summer crop! : ) I found a Chayote fruit one time in the grocery store I shop at that had sprouted! That was really cool! Lol

I am so impressed with your loom and weaving. I saw it done before on another channel. Once the finished with the weaving, they took the fabric to a stream and beat it in the water to tighten the weave, then the hung to dry with stretcher weights on it. This gave the fabric the tight weave of store bought fabrics

I know you need to feed the fish,( you rarely harvest) i know you need to feed the chickens ( you rarely harvest) i know you need to feed the pigs (you haven't harvested). Thats nice and all. I care a bit more about Major change's to development . For example... i do care about your farming. I care about your wood work. I do care about you process in general. That's why I watch. I was wondering if you know how to read a weaving pattern? I have a tweed pattern that would look nice in the cloth. All that you would need is to set the heedle in a different pattern.

OH! Thank you very much. These seedlings need to grow on their own. Maybe I shouldn't interfere with them. The wild boars will not destroy these seedlings. Wishing you good health.

Interesting show, but why do you and your wife live a part and where are the kids? This makes no sense to me. Who is raising your children? This doesn't look like a family, perhaps I simply do not understand your culture. Living alone in the forest is dangerous and anything can happen.

ROTFL!! I LOVE IT!!! I have watched your channel from the very beginning...through to the slow destruction of your shirt. This brings your channel full circle - I am truly amazed and feel gratified by all I have seen - and learned - from you....thank you for all your hard work. I pray for blessings on you, your wife and children, and all you do. ;)
